Def call ahead for any large orders. My favorite rice cakes are the Songpyeon (filled with some of sweet honey) and Injeolmi (soft rice cake coated with soybean powder). Came on a Saturday evening close to closing and there were still a few options left, the bakery is a to go only spot but has authentic desserts that are a hit! Parking was busy but was able to find street parking a half block away. The man working was very nice and explained to me what some of the desserts were since I was new to these desserts. He also said that the beige logs were made once a week so I had to try them. Paying with cash gets you a small discount. The logs are dense and very limited in flavor, I probably would not get it again but the variety desserts were really good! I enjoyed the red bean and pumpkin mixed with nuts, it has a good chew mixed with a great crunchy texture. The rice cakes in the middle are packed with a paste (my friend said maybe it was a sesame paste) that was good, it had a little bit of juice to it as well but those rice cakes were a big hit! Wanted to get Korean rice cakes as guest favors for our Nov 2025 wedding as a nod to my heritage and saw the cutest heart-design steamed rice cakes on this Yelp page. It's a small mom and pop shop, so calling is a much better way to communicate than email. Phillip noted my order and then asked me to call the week of the wedding to confirm. Pick-up was smooth and he even helped me and my sister load all 108 of them into my car while it was raining. Cash is preferred, but they do take card! Rice cakes were fresh and delicious. They had these mugwort rice cakes, and the mugwort was imported from Jejudo, South Korea. The owner explained to us how the mugwort from Jaejudo was special, as it didn't have as much bitterness and had a rich, nutty aftertaste. He was completely right. We bought four and tried it in the car, and ran in to get more, and someone outright bought them all in that time. It's a small shop and there isn't much merchandise space except a large table in the front and few things on the sides, but what they do make is amazing. I stop by once in a while when I'm craving rice cake. The second time I bought it, I only took one bite, but I kept coming back. Maybe persistence paid off--this time I went early enough to get both the mixed variety and the green one with beans and nuts. I'm not a big fan of the assorted varieties, it's like neither salty or sweet but they look great. So I am not going to hat. That said, the green one with beans and almonds was amazing. That's why I am giving this a 5 stars. I almost finished the whole thing. Now I understand why people love them so much. The owner is always very kind, and I also like their kimbap. TLDR: this place makes tteok really well. They make my favorite baram-tteok (wind rice cake), which are the green and white semi-circle shaped ones with a different color line down the middle. These are filled with smooth, sweet red bean paste (as opposed to the classic white bean paste) and are called baram-tteok because their method of shaping makes them lighter and have a pocket of air inside. I love the consistency of theirs the most out of any place in OC and they are definitely the prettiest I've seen too! I also like their jeolpyeon (the flat white or green parallelograms). It's quite plain as it is literally plain rice cake with no fillings or toppings whatsoever. But I love well-made tteok's texture and the very subtle sweetness of rice, and theirs satisfies both. I miss when they had the yellow-orange ones during holidays. They don't have many varieties of my favorite type of rice cake, which are the sweet rice cakes infused with chestnut, black sesame, raisin, pumpkin, etc. so I go to a different place for that. This place has a terrible business mentality to ripe off Koreans during chuseak! I went early in the morning of chuseak day to buy song-pyoun. Traditional rice cake ball Koreans eat on chuseok day. One package was $8, song-pyouns were literally placed on the styrofoam plate lightly. Couldn't believe the price for what they were offering. Their other rice cakes were decent looking but the owners POORLY made rice cake balls for chuseak because they know Koreans will buy no matter what. Every bite I had with the songpyoun made with sesame was horrible. They were able to make the hundred symbol on the baekseolgi bites in a pretty tan brown color. The staff was really nice and easy to communicate with. Their pricing is also very reasonable, $80 for 25 baekseogi bites and $7 per party favor box that comes with variety of rice cakes. We were a little early to pick up our order from BCD Tofu House and noticed this rice cake bakery. We looked at the Yelp reviews and it seemed like an authentic Korean rice cake bakery making special cakes for 100 day celebrations. It was established in 1983. It did not say that the bakery accepted credit cards, so we started looking for some cash. Unfortunately, I didn't have any, but my daughter had a 5 and a 10 dollar bills. From the outside, it reminded me of the dim sum shops in San Francisco Chinatown which baked their specialties fresh every day. Face masks were required and staff wore face masks. We were only familiar with the kimbap. My daughter asked for a recommendation. The nice lady asked if we liked sweet or salty and pointed out the popular assortment. She also introduced us to the one without beans for children. The 2 items came to $12.50 and my daughter received her change. The rest of the family ate the kimbap as appetizers leaving me only 3 pieces. We had the rice cakes after dinner. The rice cakes are made fresh daily and are to be consumed in one day. The colored assortment "exploded with black sesame filling" according to my daughter when she plopped one into her mouth. My favorite was the glutinous rice with chestnuts which I liked steaming up. My daughter added maple syrup to the pumpkin to make it sweeter because surprisingly this rice cake was more salty. Everything tasted great and we would return to be customers again. read more

I got an assortment of 3 kinds (see photo), with much more total weight that I'm used to getting for $5 elsewhere. More importantly, all 3 types were fresh and really tasty. My favorite were the flavor bombs (that's my name; I don't know what they're actually called). You pop one into your mouth and bite, and liquid goodness floods your taste buds - yum! I also bought two HUGE mochi ($3 for the pair), which were literally the best I've ever had. One had red bean filling, the other mung bean.
