If I am ever to crave something delish with warm coffee, it is the Classic Original Cheesetella. Ironically, I don't like anything too cheesy, nor do I like cheesecake. I recently got to try two of their popular desserts: the Original Cheesetella and the Chocotella. I personally liked the Original Cheesetella best. It was light, fluffy, and airy with a soft melt in your mouth texture. I loved the delicate, spongy texture. The Chocotella had a nice chocolate flavor, but the texture was a bit drier and overall not as good as the Original Cheesetella. I've seen this shop a few times I've been to this plaza and today I've decided to try it. I was expecting something more like Uncle Testsu and was surprised to see that they only have 3 stars. I decided to bite the bullet and try it out. After reading few reviews, I opted for the creamtella and thank god I did. The Castella itself is soft and fluffy since it is a sponge cake but I can imagine by itself would be not enough flavor and maybe a bit dry. The creamtella alleviates this by shoving a cream between a horizontally cut castella. The cream makes it better but overall, the meal is too heavy for me with not enough flavor. If the cream was milkier, it would've been a different story. Also the sizing is huge! It's practically a cake made for 4-6 people which makes sense since it costs $13. I would've preferred a smaller portion size for cheaper but there were no other option. Needless to say, I would save my calories for something else next time. read more

Tried their most famous Cheesetella, for me, it's basically a lightly sweetened sponge cake. Over the years I had bought Uber cheesetella for a friend's birthday, it's definitely more photogenic but taste wise, I wasn't impressed. I usually get the creamtella (vanilla sponge with cream inside) but they tend to run out of that pretty quickly so this time I got their chocolate cake. Aside from some areas with chocolate chips that were decent, most of the cake was fairly dry. I liked the chocolate flavor, but had to use whipped cream to make it more enjoyable. The size was decent and fed 2 people over the course of a few days as dessert. From now on, I will just stick to ordering the creamtella, or making sure that I have whipped cream at home. The last time I came was with my in laws because we wanted to introduce them to something new. After having dinner upstairs we walked here to split a cheesecake. We got their seasonal Ube Cheesecake, which was $15. The cheesecake ended up being very small. We asked for an extra box which they said would cost an additional $1. We also asked for forks and napkins but they they were out of napkins and only would give us 2 forks. The cheesecake ended up tasting dry, old and the ube flavor tasted artifical. There's only one employee working. Such disappointment. It is definitely not worth it to drive all the way to the Source, find parking, and walk to this place. I decided to give them another chance, but this time I got the cheese version of their cake. Big mistake. You can walk up to the counter and make your order, but I had to squat down to somewhat see the person behind the register. We got a strawberry cheesecake since it was the special of the day and it was immediately handed over to us. We walked to another location since it didn't seem like there was any seating, and we took at a bit. The cheesecake was extremely light and fluffy, almost with a milky consistency. Cheestella is one of my favorite dessert cake. Light, fluffy, not too sweet, with a layer of savory American cheese. They increased the price to $11 (used to be $9,then $10), shrunk in size ( cake used to fit the entire box but now there's a whole empty part of the box in the height AND width of the box. Cheese used to be 2 strips of thick chunk of cheese in the cake. Now it's only 1 very thin line. Just compare my pics of the cakes. Why I said that because if it's airy it's when they use many egg whites and not eggs with cream cheese as much.
