Matcha drinks and coco cloud coffee
    Morgan W.

Very kind and welcoming staff, lots of delicious drink and cheesecake options, and cute store! The coco cloud coco was delicious and almost tasted like an almond joy! The matcha wasn't the best quality unfortunately, definitely on the grassier and slightly grainy side, but most of them have a cream top added which helps to elevate the drink. Plus I'm super picky about my matcha and the quality so I'm sure the average person wouldn't mind these haha Overall, I had a nice experience and really enjoyed everything I got

Was walking around the source and noticed this cheesecake place on the first floor. I saw they had the burnt basque cheese cake and wanted to try it out. I was expecting it to be similar in price as the other cheese cakes at 17 but it was $24. But oh wells. I liked that it was soft and fluffly. I didnt even need to chew too much. It also isnt very cheesy which was probably the best part. I saw the other ones had cheese cheese in it and that wouldve sent me to the toilet. I would probably buy it again but not too often since its pretty pricey.

We came on a Saturday and luckily the line wasn't long at all. We ordered right away. You order thru a small window and their area seemed clean and well kept. We received our order right away. We ordered the original ($12) and cheesecake ($16). Both were super moist and soft. The original was a little plain. Reminded me of a soft version of pound cake. The cheesecake, however, was delicious!

I've seen this shop a few times I've been to this plaza and today I've decided to try it. I was expecting something more like Uncle Testsu and was surprised to see that they only have 3 stars. I decided to bite the bullet and try it out. After reading few reviews, I opted for the creamtella and thank god I did. The Castella itself is soft and fluffy since it is a sponge cake but I can imagine by itself would be not enough flavor and maybe a bit dry. The creamtella alleviates this by shoving a cream between a horizontally cut castella. The cream makes it better but overall, the meal is too heavy for me with not enough flavor. If the cream was milkier, it would've been a different story. Also the sizing is huge! It's practically a cake made for 4-6 people which makes sense since it costs $13. I would've preferred a smaller portion size for cheaper but there were no other option. Needless to say, I would save my calories for something else next time.

My friend hyped up this place so we stopped by. It's a small place, grab and go, not really any seating but it's in the Source so it's easy enough to find seating nearby. It was a little pricey, but it's a relatively large loaf so it's understandable. However, it was pretty dry and lacked in flavor. It tasted like it was maybe sitting out for a while. My friend and I were pretty disappointed, she said it was better before. Probably won't come back.

I've eyed this spot for awhile now and finally made it to The Source to try it out. It's a small corner window where you order and pick up right away. I was intrigued by the Castella Cakes, so got one original ($11). The cake itself isn't really big, approximately 8x5inches. It's good for about 2-3 people as a snack. Once I bit into it, I realized how plain the cake was. It's basically a sponge cake --that's it. It was so dry and plain that we immediately went back to get a cup of cream on the side for $2. The cream really helped and it even had a milk flavor to it. Overall, it's pricey for a simple sponge cake. The more popular item is their cheesecake, so that's probably the better choice here. It seems like the same as Uncle Tetsu's, so I didn't bother to try that.

It was well flavored. Strawberry Cheesecake was too moist. Glad I had tried. Service was good. It's a buy and go window. No seating.

Cheesecake $14, the consistency isn't very good, prefer Uncle Tetsu

I know banana isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea because it has such a distinct flavor, but I really love how they construct this drink. You can genuinely taste the banana, and I love that it seems like they use real banana rather than that artificial banana flavor you get at some other cafés. It makes such a difference! I've also tried their coffee, and it's really good! Their coffee has a nice, strong flavor and doesn't taste watered down at all. I feel like they're probably more known for their matcha, but their coffee definitely deserves some love too. I've tried matcha from a lot of different places, including spots in LA, and while everyone has their own preferences, if you're in the Orange County area, I would definitely recommend giving Coffee & a try. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but personally, this is one of my favorite cafés. It has that cute little hole-in-the-wall feeling where you find a place that you just want to keep coming back to. The service is also amazing! Everyone I've interacted with has been super nice and welcoming, which honestly makes the experience even better. As for the pastries, they're really good too! They'll warm them up for you, and they have the cutest cookies that look like little cartoon characters. They sometimes have seasonal cookies as well, which I think is such a cute touch. Overall, I really love how much personality this café has. If you're a matcha lover in OC, I definitely recommend stopping by and trying it for yourself!

We felt uncomfortable with the staring and the overall lack of warmth, and after standing there for a while, we decided to leave. What made it especially disappointing is that we are both minorities and genuinely wanted to support a new minority-owned business in the neighborhood. Instead, we walked away feeling completely unwelcome. Before leaving, I brought the experience up to someone who worked there, and the only response I received was, "I'm so sorry." There was no attempt to understand what happened or make us feel differently about the experience. It's really unfortunate that in 2026, people can still walk into a business and feel unwelcome because of the way they are treated. Customer service and simply acknowledging people who walk through your door should be the bare minimum. I really wanted to support this new neighborhood business, but unfortunately, I'll stick with places like Smoking Tiger where we have always felt welcomed and treated with kindness.

It's simple, but very refreshing and light with a strong strawberry flavor as well as real pieces of strawberry. Would order this again! I also recently had the Banana Matcha Cloud 9 latte. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan. The matcha is pretty light and it tasted almost a bit watered down. The banana also leaned a bit more on the artificial side and overall was quite expensive at almost $9 with tax. Would probably not order again. My only mild complaint is that the timed order- for-later request did not seem to make too big a difference, as my drink was probably ready 25 minutes early. Better early than late, though! Staff were friendly and informative as always. Shop had a few customers seated inside and outside, so there was plenty of room to study or sit a while. Yet recently I've been coming and truly haven't been enjoying it the same. I used to come and study or work as I enjoyed their drinks and baked goods. The environment is usually buzzing with more people working or studying or groups of people talking. Their pastries are always good and yummy which is a BIG hit. Yet I am a big coffee person, the quality of the coffees and drinks have gone down hill a lot. I would always order the Campfire latte or the Smoking Spaniard latte (when it still had cardamom in it) and would LOVE it. But now when I order drinks, most of them aren't very good or are missing flavors. The Smoking Spaniard is still yummy yet it used to be sooo much better back in the day, now it taste more like a regular spanish latte. I always see the new seasonal drinks and menu and get so excited to try them just incase I find a new favorite. Most of them have been a miss sadly :( The fruit lattes and drinks from their seasonal menu usually has actual chunks of fruit in it which makes it hard to drink and you have to chew while drinking a latte ;( not my fave. I went in yesterday to try their summer '26 seasonal drinks which is Yakult! I was sooo excited. A blueberry Yakult matcha latte! yummy! I got there, got a new earl grey lemon loaf from the bakery, got my blueberry Yakult matcha latte and sat down to try. Sadly, it didn't hit... the blueberries are still super chunky so I had to use 2 different straws because my first one got stuck with blueberries in it. The Yakult foam was really good but the blueberries weren't :( I HIGHLY recommend when making fruit syrups for coffee, boil down the fruit and blend it or strain out the big pieces. I sadly have stopped really coming to Smoking Tiger so often because I haven't been impressed and other coffee shops have been popping up that has better quality now :( Smoking Tiger has been focusing more on quantity of stores rather than quality of their food and drinks.
