I've got to give another shout out to Kathy and her quaint little shop! Part casual dining eatery, part take-out food and a small area where Korean and other Asian grocery staples can be purchased. They're a little bit of Seoul in the heart of Lancaster! This isn't a fancy "Korean bbq" with the large booth seating and a grill at every table. All of her foods are prepared fresh to order by Kathy.. after she's taken your order. Bring a little patience, because this lady is a one-woman band and does it all! For takeout foods, if you're seeking a more authentic Korean flavor, let her know your tastebuds are experienced and ask her to season your dishes the way she would for herself. She's had to modify over time to suit the palates of locals who find full flavor Korean dishes to be a bit too much. The place is simple, but clean and orderly. She has a fridge with her homemade kimchi varieties for sale (so tasty!) On Saturday afternoon, a friend called me to ask where to buy natto (Japanese fermented soy beans) in the AV. I laughed and said you'd have to drive to Van Nuys or Northridge.. and then I thought about Kathy. I gave her a call and she said she actually had one small 3-pack on hand, but was planning to go shopping in Los Angeles the next day for supplies (she's closed on Sundays) and if I had a special order, run right over to the store and bring her a picture of what was wanted and she would make the buy and it could be picked up Monday when she was open again. Wow! Now that's incredible customer service that you don't always hear about these days. I couldn't be more impressed! If there's something you want and they don't have it, ask her and maybe she can get it for you if you're not in a huge rush. My respect for this smart and hard working business owner has grown!

Im honestly mad at myself for just now finding this place! The food is sooooo good! Also the portions are fantastic! This place deserves more love! I'm definitely going to come back, food made to order with great service!

Small, modest, family run market and eating place. I ordered the "spicy chicken dinner plate". I was really surprised how good it was, and the portion was generous... plenty for two to share. The chicken was just the right amount of spicy, and delicious! The Korean sides were great. My only feedback would to be have a little more of them, and a little less protein. This isn't fine dining... But is good home-cooked Korean food.

Since we were not offered a menu, we started looking through the pics on the wall. The lady abruptly asked if we were ordering or just looking. I told her we we're trying to figure it out and she just stood by the register (behind her the dirty dishes were taller than me in the sink). We ordered the spicy ramen and bulgogi. She asked us if it was to go and I said no, we want to eat here just to be told by her that there was no dine in today. My total was 35$ for this half assed food and by the time I made it home my noodles were swollen and soggy. The service was rude and theres no way I'd pay 35$ for this mediocre food with small portions

    Nengmyung.

Ok, so this is the only place in Lancaster that has nengmyun, or Korean cold noodles. And it has been HOT in Lancaster, and I've been up there a couple times a week for work. So I was craving nengmyun. And I'll be honest, I didn't have high expectations, but in my head I was like, "ok, it doesn't matter how bad it is, or how off the taste, I'm ok with it, because it's nengmyun". So......generally, you would get the plain noodles in broth, and then add vinegar and mustard to taste. Here, they do it for you. Which was...not so good... at least for me. I don't know how much mustard was put in, but it was more than I usually do, and I'm a wimp. And yes, I mixed it around a LOT to try and diffuse the mustard. To no avail. It stung my eyes and made my nose run. And cough. It tasted like kerosene. I finally caved and asked the owner for a bowl of plain broth, and ended up dipping my noodles in that first before transferring to my mouth. That worked a lot better. After that, the nengmyun was fine. The owner is super nice. But I'm not sure I'd go back for the nengmyun, unless I get to add the mustard myself this time. I'll probably go back to try other things though.

Radish Kimchi.....love the light pickle and the spicy heat!

This place is the Best I've tasted, their kimchi is out of this world! Authentic and so it does take a while to come out, but so worth it.

Ask the Community - Korean BBQ and Market

Do they have raw marinated crab?

I did not see that on the menu. It's best that you call them. I have only been there once. But it was good hoping to back and try their other items

Dear Gonzalez Meat Market Management,…read more I am writing to formally bring to your attention a concerning experience I had at your Lancaster, California location. My intent is to make you aware of several issues related to both food safety practices and customer service, as these are matters that directly impact public health and customer trust. First, I observed what appeared to be serious health code violations. During my visit, a staff member handled raw meat and then proceeded to touch other surfaces without properly washing or sanitizing their hands. Specifically: - Raw meat was transported from a neighboring location and handled in a way that created a risk of cross-contamination. - The individual handling the raw meat also handled the exterior of the bag, which can transfer bacteria. - Afterward, the same staff member touched cash from the register, soda cans, and prepared food items without changing gloves or washing hands. This sequence of actions raises concerns about cross-contamination and food safety, especially since customers directly consume these items. Secondly, I would like to address the customer service experience. At the time of my visit, there appeared to be insufficient staffing, with only one chef and one cashier managing a high volume of customers. As a result: - There were approximately 20 customers waiting, and service was significantly delayed (around 20 minutes or more). - Several customers ahead of me were still waiting when a customer who ordered after me received her food first, despite placing a larger order. - My order was simple (four carne asada tacos and Mexican rice), yet it took longer than expected without clear communication. Additionally, I was informed that the grill was down, which contributed to the delay. While I understand that unexpected issues can occur, this was not communicated proactively, and there was no effort made to accommodate or compensate for the inconvenience. I had requested grilled onions and grilled jalapeños, and given the delay and circumstances, it would have been a considerate gesture to provide these at no additional cost. Instead, I was charged and met with an unprofessional attitude when I raised concerns. Overall, the combination of potential health code violations and poor customer service created an experience that was both disappointing and concerning. I hope you take this feedback seriously and implement corrective measures to ensure proper food handling procedures and improved customer service moving forward. This place has strong potential, but a few operational improvements would really elevate the customer experience. During busy hours, more staffing and a clearer order system would help reduce long waits and ensure customers are served in the correct order. I'd also recommend reinforcing basic food safety practices like preventing cross-contamination between raw meat handling, cash handling, and food prep, as well as keeping the grill consistently running during service hours to avoid delays. Lastly, when delays happen, small gestures like complimentary items or waiving small add-ons can go a long way in maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty. Sincerely, B. Orona Blackshire

As much as I wanna support my local meat market I'm afraid I've had enough. The produce is always…read moreso terrible, moldy and over priced. Every time I order meat they always over shoot the pounds on purpose, I asked for 2 pounds how did I end up with 4? And when I say something they take one piece out. I've also noticed they try to give me the stringy pieces instead of the actual pieces of meat. I also asked for 3 pieces of chicken and I saw the butcher sneak in a 4th piece as he was about to close the bag. I told him I said 3 and he said yes 3 but here I am with 4 pieces of meat. It's usually the older butchers that do this too not so much the younger ones. I order a certain amount for my family so it doesn't go to waste but I always end up with so much extra it's irritating.
