I am particularly reviewing about "TooGoodToGo" app experience associated with this place, not about this Caffe Nero in general. It's low cost surprise bag prepared to go in order to avoid food waste, so you can't choose what you want. Also you'd have to pick up at scheduled time, my case was between 3 and 4pm. I reserved Variety Bag (not as Baked Goods Bag) for $4.99 plus tax = $5.34 a night before with TooGoodToGo app. I was not so excited about food I got in two small paper bags but hey, it's $5.34. Service and food is awful here. Got here around 6:30pm yesterday (5/18), entered the wrong side of the line and the lady behind the counter rudely exclaimed, "if you're looking to order, you're on the wrong side". The cafe wasn't crowded at all to the point she couldn't take our orders on the other side. She also rushed our orders, we asked for a couple of minutes and she rolled her eyes. We also asked for less ice in a drink, she proceeded to fill the cup with mostly ice, when we asked her to take some out, she got mad. The pastries are not made in-house. I think it's a hodgepodge of pastries from Stop & Shop, Costco and BJ's. The iced caramel latte was off-white, aka just milk and syrup. Love the vibes, very cozy as soon as you walk in with plenty of different areas/ types of seating to fit your needs :) person taking orders was very kind and patient, walked me though the different sizes my drink choice could come in. Overall, I'd say the main draw of this Nero is the ambience. It's a great study spot and I've never been more productive than when I come here. However, for the price, I think the food left a little something to be desired. Don't get me wrong, it was still decent. I'd be more than happy to come back and get a quick snack during another study sesh or to grab a bite with friends. It's not wildly overpriced compared to some other cafes in the city, but in terms of quality of food, it wouldn't be my first choice. The matcha, to me, was too milky and lacked a strong matcha flavor. Still, it satisfied my morning caffeine craving. As for the croissant, it was a great start to my morning! Very soft pastry with a good amount of ham. On the other hand, I think it could've used more cheese and it maybe could be something easier to make at home. As for the service, it was very quick and efficient. The workers were happy to assist and get my order working! And, as I said before, very aesthetic ambience and a social yet quiet working environment. Fancy business filled with university students studying. Its a good work environment with plenty of ambiance and near accessible businesses and resturants. However, the drinks specifically the smoothies did not quite meet expectations. I ordered the dragonfruit smoothies for me and my dad. My family came down to Boston on my break before my graduation- theyve only been able to come here a couple of times because they are all the way across the country. The smoothie we ordered was runny and had the consistency of juice. The first smoothie was okay but still juice like. Mine came out the same way but more like juice. I asked for ice to thicken the texture but it was still the same just colder. The cost was about $10 for both which wasn't bad at all. The sizes came in small or medium. Although there were a lot of people in this establishment the line was not packed at all. I would just recommened another establishment if you are looking more for youre dollar and for flavor. But if you are looking for a quick treat maybe a pastry would be a better choice. read more

Great cafe: great ambiance. A great place to work and study for hours (even to just hang out with friends). The food is a bit pricey for the quality of the food but most cafes are like that. The food itself is mid but it's just enough to energize yourself throughout your study session. The main reason that made me want to write this review was the service. I ordered iced strawberry matcha latte but I forgot to replace the milk to nondairy milk (I'm lactose intolerant). I was fully willing to pay for a whole new matcha latte but the worker told me that I didn't have to pay-- so I got a new matcha latte with oat milk for free. It's a simple gesture but greatly appreciated. The atmosphere is great, the food is mid, and the drinks are pretty good. But I think the most important quality of any cafes is the service. How the workers treat their customers is the impression we have on cafes and I'm happy with the service :) Side note: I also love that they leave a syrup out for anyone to use so instead of asking the workers to make a drink sweeter. Another side note: I'm a huge matcha girl so I just wanted to leave my honest review of their matcha drink. The quality of the matcha is 6/10. But their strawberry and vanilla sweetness make their latte boost to 7.5/10. It's good and sweet. I know some matcha enthusiasts like their matcha's sweetness subtle but I like mine sweeet. Their matcha focuses more on the sweetness than the quality of the matcha itself (and that's fair bc it's not that each cafes specialize themselves in matcha). The unique thing about my experience at Nero Coffee was that it was a Pistachio Sunday! I tried the pistachio latte. I tried the pistachio muffin. When I discovered they also had pistachio cheesecake, I tried that as well! I would highly recommend all three, although my least favorite was the muffin. But the latte and the cheesecake - wow the cheesecake was delicious. I didn't know how much I needed pistachio flavored food and drinks in my life, but now I know!! read more

I don't know what elderberry tastes like tbh, it just tasted a little reminiscent of blackberry and blueberry. Price is a little steep ($6.50 ish including tax for a slice) but the slices are pretty big. Would come back for a nice study spot. read more

I had a few 4 star experiences at this Cafe Nero on a recent visit to Boston. I am adding an extra star because of the service of the guy working at 7 everyday here. He is very friendly, nice and efficient. Cafe Nero has all the late, coffee and breakfast pastries and baguettes you would expect. There is plenty of seating at this location. There is nice music playing all the time. It is a very comfy place. This location will have lots of BU students at it.... but not at the holidays when I was in. I am on crutches and I cannot carry multiple items at the same time. When I place orders through Grubhub I request that orders be placed in a bag. Caffe Nero refuses to do this. I have complained to Grubhub and they claimed to have escalated the case to the drivers. This has been going on for a month. When I called Caffe Nero directly they hung up on me. read more

Oh how I love caffe Nero. I love their lattes, their super crunchy baguette sandwiches, their fluffy croissants. Every time I walk into a caffe Nero, it reminds me of all the ones I went to when I was studying abroad in London back in my college days and a wave of nostalgia just slaps me in the face. BUT.... This particular location gets crazy busy, so crowded, to the point where it's easier to find a needle in a haystack than get a seat. There are so many times where I was hovering while chomping on my croissant waiting for someone to get up, and ended up walking around Allston/Brookline instead. Because this caffe Nero is basically on the BU campus, so many students come here and literally camp out and make it their home for the next 8 hours or so. So it's very difficult to come here if you want to chat, or eat your pastries in peace. That being said, it's not the best spot to catch up with a friend as well, just because most of the people are studying furiously and no one else is really talking... Food wise, it's always good. Drinks are very consistent. I love the service here / super kind and patient baristas. I once saw one of the employees here patiently walk a customer through every single one of their drinks in detail because he had no idea what any of the different coffee names meant (I learned a lot about coffee that day ;). Love the location of this cafe, love the employees, and the decor (very European!) but wish there was additional space inside!!! read more

The interior is super nice and spacious. Though it can definitely get crowded, it is not a crammed coffee shop. I only got their house coffee which was nice other than some flakes on top? I'm not quite sure what that was, but it did not look like coffee grounds either. Prices are very fair for Boston. Once I waited my friend for 30 minutes and read a book in a single chair. This, you will find your spot. Parking: Very bad. I've never left a cafe so disappointed. It was obvious the food on display was old. It looked hard and in the case of the roast beef sandwiches, possibly dangerous to eat. I asked what was fresh and was told the breakfast rolls were from this morning but the sandwiches were from yesterday. I got a roasted tomato and egg sandwich because I was hungry and the sign outside and pictures online misled me to thinking this was a cafe I could have lunch at and work. Not so much. I took a bite and the bottom of the roll was hard. Not to mention it was bite sized. They gave me a refund without question. My impression is there is a management problem, so the employees don't seem to care. If they aren't selling the sandwiches they should try making fewer or making them fresh to order. Usually I really enjoy going to caffe Nero but recently there have been a few problems and then today everything seemed to come together into a subpar experience: staff seemed distracted and wandered off as I stood there waiting - eventually asked me if I needed anything else and I answered, yes my food as i had only received my drink - they handed me my food which had been forgotten about and left sitting out there were two hairs in my food - after the first one I was grossed out but accidents happen so I wasn't going to say anything but after two I just threw the whole thing away my smoothie was not blended correctly - I've had the cold drinks in Nero before many times so I know the consistently was totally wrong and so it was almost impossible to drink until it had totally melted overall really not a very good experience and seems unlikely I will be back - seems like a terrible waste of money read more

3 I have been to multiple Cafe Nero locations in Boston. Let's be honest, you don't come here for the good coffee, you come here because its beautifully decorated. It's not a plain Jane Starbucks, it's somewhere that looks and feels nicer than home. Coffee though? It is better than Starbucks because it doesn't have that slight burnt aftertaste afterwards. But they put so little ice it becomes watered down fast too (unlike Starbucks). Also, Cafe Nero doesn't nearly have as many flavors as Starbucks, I think there are three? They also have a list of teas, smoothies or some other strange things I never bother to ask about. A iced Chai Latte? Go to Starbucks if you don't want melted ice and grits at the bottom of your drink. I guess that means it's freshly brewed? No thanks, still not better than Starbucks premix. Honestly, its a franchise (I believe now). If I go here, it's because I want to sit there for a couple hours. I would never actively seek this place out. I drink lattes regularly, it is not a place I go out of my way because I think they have great coffee. They don't. It's average and watered down. They can't make iced drinks properly. I can't attest to their food because I'm not a fan of pastries or sandwiches. They at least look less processed than Starbucks. Anyway, that's my two cents. read more

Decent sandwiches too. Some of their baked goods are inconsistent in that they're under baked. I'm a big fan of caffe nero and have always had a good experience in all there shops. I was in the one On Com Ave Allston this week and was sitting by the fire and could not help noticing mice dropping's all over the floor. It is obviously not cleaned on a daily bases as most of it was ground into the floor. Hopefully the kitchen is cleaned more often. read more
