We ordered three Beef Bulgogi and one Chicken Bulgogi entrée. I appreciated that the server brought out the food and drinks on a cart. It was a nice touch. The service was friendly, and the dining area is clean and uncluttered, with Korean themed artwork/pics on the walls. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that this is a Veteran-owned restaurant and were glad to support it. We'll definitely be back! Since our son will be living here for the next four years, we're happy he has a great spot nearby for his Bulgogi fix. We are used to getting chopsticks and that was not the case here. Nice cozy ambiance. The food is amazing! I started with the kimchi pancake and Korean roll and finished with a sizzling plate of grilled galbi. The galbi flavor penetrated the short ribs and all the sides it was paired with only enhanced the flavor! The pancake was served steaming hot and the roll was a great balance of flavors. The sign was large enuff to spot from a far distance. Me and my bf saw this was kinda close to home so we went to try it out. We both love Korean food and it definitely didn't disappoint. The price was very affordable, the staffs were super friendly. They offer a small buffet from a certain time range. A buttload of side dishes also known as Ban Chan. I ordered the bulgogi kimbap and LA galbi . I love the galbi, there was barely any fats on it, it came out sizzling hot. They were kind enuff to also bring out my ban chan, i had at least 9side dishes that went along with my galbi, if not more. I was very satisfied with everything. The reason why i gave it a 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because the kimchi was kinda salty, some of the ban chan was a bit salty and my bf likes salty but even he thought it was bit salty. There were other items as well to chose from. I had the same meal two days in a row, does that give you any indication of how good the food is? Vegetarian bim bim bop is SOLID. Don't forget to ask for a side of the cucumber Kim chi as well as the Korean "coleslaw" which is literally to die for. The whole dish is incredible because of how well each item blends into the next. I've eaten here 5 or 6 times now and it's better every time I go. They have done a great job of adapting and responding to the customer's wishes to provide more vegetarian options. Their veggie dumpling soup in mushroom broth is really delicious; my husband's favorite. The hot bowls are so yummy and really unique for the midwest! My picky daughter even devours the veggie dumplings, the Korean roll (kind of like sushi), and the veggie curry. Make sure to ask about the specials on the chalkboard because you often find pleasant, unique surprises. Service was excellent and the cook often comes out to make an appearance. Koreana has the best food in Galesburg. Kimchi fries are awesome. The pork bulgogi is spicy and delicious. The condiment selection includes 3 kinds of kimchi--traditional, which is delicious, cucumber and a zucchini (I think) which were also yummy. Koreana is a tasty Korean restaurant with a Korean lunch buffet tucked away in Galesburg. Their budget-friendly buffet consisted of steamed rice, fried rice, thick bean thread noodles, green beans, pork bulgogi, Beef bulgogi, egg rolls, hot wings, 2 desserts, 2 soups, and approximately 8 banchan. Although it was quite small, it's a great deal if you want all-you-care-to-eat bulgogi. My friend opted for the Kalbi and it is one of the best I have ever had. The portion was small but so was the price. The pieces were grilled nicely, not too sweet, and not too fatty. I chose the buffet and would recommend it for anyone craving Korean food but not trying to break the bank. The egg drop soup was below average but their Kim Chi soup was amazing. Nice sour taste filled with delicious cabbage and broth. Their banchan alone almost filled me up and was a nice little Korean salad bar. Some tasted amazing (great kimchis) while others were average, and well everything was salty including the 2 bulgogis. I love salty and I think many restaurants fear of pleasing every customers' palates cause them to under-season. That is not an issue here. The beef bulgogi was better than the pork bulgogi. Neither were that good quality-wise or flavor-wise but they were good enough to be served buffet-style. Bean thread noodles were quite tasty and cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and phenomenal. As regulars flowed in during lunch time, the servers greeted them by their names happily. I would definitely return here for some good Korean food. read more

This was my first visit to this restaurant. It was a nice reataurant, nice environment, clean, and nice decor. I also liked right off the bat how well lit it was, it seems like a good portion of restaurants are dim so your never sure if they are dirty or not, but this restaurant was super nice and clean. Clean bathrooms too, with a changing table in the bathroom which is always a plus for me. We had dumplings and egg rolls for an appetizer and we like both very much. Everything we ordered came out in a timely manner. My entre was delicious, I ordered the Jap chae. My husband ordered the chicken bulgogi, he liked it but said it was a little burnt. Koreana is one of those restaurants that could be described as a "local gem". Obviously the food is downright awesome. The staff is always friendly and they often go above and beyond for their customers. This whole "Covid thing" has changed the way so many places do business. But Koreana has adapted well. No other word to use besides phenomenal. My fiance and I lived in Galesburg for almost 3 years, with Koreana opening up in the last year we were there. I swear to god that summer we went probably once a week to the lunch buffet. We have since moved away from the area for work and still make sure to go to Koreana (even if it's way out of our way) when we are near the area, about 2.5 hours away from our current location. Amber and Kim do an exceptional job at keeping their menu small. I mean that in the best way. It is so refreshing to see a restaurant stick to what they're good at and be completely authentic to themselves. The lunch buffet is not what most people expect when they hear the word 'buffet' but it's so damn good. Beef and pork bulgogi (the best I've ever had), white and friend rice (made perfectly every time), green beans that are to die for, Korean wings, my fiance's favorite egg rolls of all time, soups, and a plethora of kimchi to choose from. Their korean red slaw is what dreams are made of and I wish I could buy a giant jar to take home with me. To top it all off, they make cheesecake eggrolls that are fantastic! We've brought family from Peoria over to eat there and even they can not stop talking about it. Extremely reasonably priced, authentic, home cooked, made-to-order recipes, a great atmosphere and awesome, kind, and fully invested owners-- what more could I ask for? We came to this small town on President's day, but did not expect to see a Korean restaurant here. We called ahead to make sure it was open... and wow, were we impressed! For context, we are Koreans residing in Chicagoland (so are used to good Korean food, both at home and at restaurants), and have been to Seoul and Los Angeles within the last few months - So I would daresay we are quite discerning when it comes to this cuisine. We ordered 3 things: The tofu appetizer was simple and nice. The soy sauce for dipping had sesame seeds in it - a small touch that showed that the cook really knew authenticity. The sizzling dol-sot bibimbap (various vegetables with an egg and small pork pieces, all mixed together with spicy gochujang sauce) and was perfect for a cold rainy evening. For the Kimchi-jjigae, I initially thought the meat was beef, but found out the pork just looked that way as the preparation was special. Now being one of the most common stews in Korea (along with Dwenjang-jjigae) most everyone can cook this, but it is rather difficult to make an exceptional one... amazingly this one made that cut! I ordered an extra bowl of rice to enjoy it to the last drop. I couldn't help but feel envious of the students of Knox College, having such a gem only a few blocks from the campus. There weren't any restaurants of this caliber when I had gone to grad school in St. Louis (hopefully the situation has improved there). Kudos to the owner (and cook) and her staff. Everyone was really nice... it seemed that she knew all the other guests by name (which could be just the small-town thing). On a side note, it was a nice surprise to hear K-pop music throughout our meal - BTS and other current groups. Hmm.. I came back to edit my review, as it says that I am located in San Francisco?
