Food was hot at this location and correct. Service was a tad on the slower side but it seemed they were significantly understaffed as well so I don't know it was neccessarily their fault. The food was cooked perfectly! My husband and I ordered steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly and the garlic butter sauce was tasty. The reason for 3 stars is I ordered online with the "save 20% now by signing up for perks" that didn't happen! Also, I called to make sure the order included the 20% off and utensils, salt, pepper, etc. none of that happened and my husband had to return to the restaurant for utensils because we were visiting and staying in a hotel. Very disappointed with our meal last night. Came in at 6:30pm and ordered breakfast and sandwich food. Took over 30 minutes to get it. The breakfast food was hot. My sandwich was not. The waitress did give me a free refill on hot cocoa while we waited. She was okay. The manager was busy chewing an employee out and just watching others work while not helping out. The blond gal was friendly and kept busy and did a good job. The restrooms were dirty and the entire place needs a good cleaning and maybe a coat of paint. My husband says he'll never go back. Went to Perkins for dinner a couple of nights ago. I had the pancakes (added blueberries), and they came with bacon and 2 eggs. I was seated immediately and the waitress was quick to refill my drink (5×!) It wasn't really busy and I got my food about 15 minutes after I ordered. Delicious! Perkins is a great family restaurant to get eggs, pancakes, breakfast foods. Simple sandwiches and burgers for lunch. Dinners and salads are well made. We are from California and were out here visiting my sister at college. It took the waitress 20 minutes to take our order and we are still sitting here an hour later waiting on our food. Good food and great value. Staff are invested in you enjoying your meal. And they have a sense of humor! We enjoyed the salmon (ask for the sauce on the side) and the wild berry pie never disappoints (heated up just a little makes it perfect with ice cream). This is probably the worst burger I've had in ages. I've never had a chef cut a burger in half to see if it was bleeding. Nor have I ever seen a chef continue to put multitudes of toppings on the burger and not inform the customer. Why would you put a description on the menu indicating that the CHICKEN was supposed to taste like lemon & then make the pasta taste like you dumped lemon juice all over it & the chicken taste like...chicken? If you don't mind lunch taking 1 hour, mediocre food, overpriced everything and filthy conditions this is the place for you! The ceiling tiles are black around the vents, the glass is dirty, my wife's food came with a dead fly. I'm assuming the crowds of elderly people don't see to well and that's how this stuff is overlooked. Maybe the first time I didn't finish a burger in my life. Our family has been a long time customer and we've come to know many of the staff as friends. This makes it difficult to leave a bad review. Sadly the Perkins in Galesburg has seriously gone downhill. Service has become incredibly slow, the facility appears dirty, wall paper is peeing from the walls, restrooms appear filthy, many booth seats are broken, the dairy cases are unkept, and appear wet due to humidity. This has to be a sad management situation, especially for the employees we care about and who depend on the facility for their income. Galesburg has few restaurants and the only reason we ever come here anymore is because of the choices we have. Plan to stay a long time because your meal won't come quick! read more

I read a pretty bad review about how bad the food was at the Perkins in Galesburg, Il. It went on & on about how the food was cold & tasted bad but it also mentioned a server (by name) who was very new to the job of being a waitress. Since her name was mentioned in a bad review she got the blame even though it was not her fault. I don't think it is fair for her to be punished by not letting her be a waitress anymore. She enjoyed it & was still learning. I think that when someone is new at something they should be given some consideration & learn from the mistakes made. People are not born automatically knowing how to do things. They have to be taught & learn from practicing. read more

This perkins us3d to have really good food and used to be clean. We have not set foot in this perkins for over a year kow. The food tasted old and microwaved and the place is dirty. The last we were there it smelled of sewage coming from the bathrooms you could smell it in the dinning area. The bathrooms are filthy. I love perkins but not this one. My husband and I eat at Perkins about 2x a month. We had a late breakfast yesterday. We had to wait for a table even though there were plenty of empty tables - they had not been cleared. Except for a couple of decent waitresses, everyone else seems to move at a snail's pace. My single egg came out like rubber although I asked for it poached (which is inherent to Eggs Benedict). By the time a proper egg was brought to me, everything else was cold. The whole restaurant needs to be scrubbed and refurbished. I don't think anyone has cleaned the framed art in years; there are greasy finger prints on all the glass fronts. The manager on duty was back behind the building for at least 1/2 hour smoking instead of doing his job. We were there over an hour for a mediocre meal and poor service. We are not likely to go back until something changes. The staff all seem stressed as though the know something is wrong but are powerless to make improvements on their own. read more

Mold growing from the ceiling every air vent was filthy covered in dust if I would have noticed this before my meal I would have walked out!!!! This place needs new management and the health department. I'm wondering how clean the kitchen is! I spoke with the general manager about the cleanliness of the vents and the mold growing on the ceiling he said it's not mold it's just know building that needs to be replaced. Where can I start? We went to lunch and waited to be seated. That was fine. We waited 15 minute's to get out drinks, we waited 45 minutes to get our food, and our sandwiches were "meh"...We didn't get any refills until we were nearly done with our food and our waitress wasn't even the one who took our plates or gave us our refills. My husband and I eat here on a weekly basis, mainly because it's the only "family" restaurant in town. I have had to send a few breakfasts back. One time, I had grilled onions in my pancakes. A hair in my eggs or pancakes or etc...I'm thinking the prep cooks and/or the cooks aren't wearing the required hair protectors. Not the cleanest of restaurants, wouldn't hurt if the health department walked in unexpectedly. I've asked a couple of the managers how a certain food is prepared and they can't give me a straight answer. For Perkins to be a 'sister company' of Marie Callenders, it would be REAL nice if they took some classes from their cooks and servers.
