Hands down one of the best burgers I've ever had. It's an amazing blend of the burger you would have as a kid on a summer day, mixed with something of a five guys tenderness in the meat and melted cheese. There are quite a few staples in Charlottesville worth a visit or 2...or 3 and the Korner is definitely 1 of them. I have been twice and had consistently great service and the food is pretty good. Went here with the guys for lunch. Pro tip, get in the door at 11am if you're going for lunch. Even though the Korner has quite a few tables and seats at the kitchen area the place fills up quickly. I had the burger and was thoroughly satisfied. Might be the best non chain burger that I have experienced in Charlottesville since I've been out here. read more

I can't live in Charlottesville and not go here, especially since it's so close to where I live. The Korner is a throwback place to eat. I bet most of the clientele have been going for years, and this shapes the whole place. The Korner Restaurant does NOT accept debit or credit, and the nearest ATM is the sketchy market down the street next to the auto body shop, so be prepared. This is the sort of place that could be good for a hangover since the food is really salty. Prices are damn cheap. Unlike a lot of other places, the Korner is not on board with the local ingredients and fresh bit. I saw one woman mixing a batch of something and pour most of it from a prepackaged bag. On a Saturday our service was ok. Our waitress seemed annoyed I insisted on sitting where I did, as she kept putting anything we asked for in the spot in front of me, instead of the middle of the table. Don't put a chair in a spot if you, as a waitress, feel it hinders your ability to serve items or hand condiments out. I also found it odd she asked if I wanted to order even though my friends had to walk to the ATM so they could pay for their soon-to-be meal. The flies were super annoying, and there were several of them. Other than that, the Korner is what it is, a diner for old guys to sip coffee in and heckle the women who have been serving them for several years. read more

Where do I begin? Well, first of all, why the hell would you put a BBQ Pit Cooker outside when the BBQ is preprocessed and in a bag. Canned and frozen EVERYTHING. You know, I can deal with all of these things, but to top it off the cook doesn't give two hoots about how the food is cooked. EVERYTHING either comes under cooked or over cooked. Straight up diner... too cheap to be acclaimed, and too dull to be hip. If you went to McDonalds in the 1940s, this'd be it. The Korner keeps odd hours (I think they close at 7 or 8?), and serves what seem to be exclusively regulars who go behind the counter to fill their own drinks. What a nice surprise! I have passed this place so many times without even looking up. I wish I could go back in time. Turns out, Korner Restaurant ("A good place to eat, where two streets meet.") is indeed a good place to eat. The cheeseburger could go head-to-head with Riverside any day. The real milkshake was as solid as they come, with a bit of actual ice cream still floating in it for good measure. The quarter pound hot dog - with chili and onions added - was delectable. Sadly, the onion rings were oily and poorly cooked - blaming the cooking this time. I'll try again soon. The ladies who staff the joint are as friendly and welcoming as they come, and it's a pleasure to sit at the counter and munch away. Charlottesville should take more notice of Korner Restaurant.
