My bf ordered the ramen and we paid $15 for it and it was literally instant noodles with two skewers in it. The menu was unorganized and a mess. Some menus were missing pages. The total came out to $50 for the instant noodles and one roll and two small sides. I wish I could get a refund because we also had to spend money on an Uber to get to the restaurant so $70 total to eat there and it was really not worth it. I should have trusted the reviews and just go to a place that is 4 stars and up from now on. If they can make it up to us somehow, I will consider changing the review. read more

Due to the recent reviews, I had really low expectations, but still ended up disappointed! Guess that's what happens when you order sushi at 11pm. I ordered their two item bento, with salmon sashimi and salmon teriyaki. The bento came with rice (with seaweed sprinkled on top), salad, miso, edamame, and 1 orange slice. The rice and salmon teriyaki portions were TINY. Laughable small. I understand getting a small piece of salmon, but why did they cheap out on rice as well? The salmon teriyaki wasn't good. Other than the taste of being 'charred' or grilled, there was no flavor. The salmon was overcooked and not seasoned from what I could taste - not even salt and pepper! The salmon sashimi were also small, but surprisingly buttery and decent. There was a slight fishy taste after you chewed/ate it...but otherwise, it was fine. Salad was good/fresh. Miso lacked flavor and came with no toppings (seaweed, tofu, etc.) so it was just the broth. It also leaked inside my bag but I assume that was the driver's fault. Would be nice if they used plastic wrap + the lid moving forward like some other restaurants. Wish I had more rice, but the rice was good! This was the WORST sushi roll ever and I am utterly disappointed. Me and my husband have been here a couple of times and enjoyed their sashimi course so we were in high hopes when we ordered TnT roll and Dynamite roll only to ruin our dinner completely. The top part of the baked roll (salmon) was completely burnt for both rolls and the rice was falling apart everywhere that it was hard to eat with chopsticks. Very very disappointed. Must-Visit if you love Studio Ghibli!!! Decided on late dinner here on a Saturday night with some homies. Wait: Dropped by almost 10pm and we were surprised there wasn't a wait for a party of 5. Could hardly tell there was any (unagi) "sauce" as described in the menu. Service: Handed our menus and took our drink orders as we sat down. Came back within 5-10 mins to take our orders. Even though only 2 of our party asked for miso soup, our server gave one to each of our party. Food came along around 15-20 minutes later. Took a while for the server to come back and check on us for our bill since they had many to-go people but as soon as we got it we were able to pay and get Togo boxes quickly after. We wanted sushi for our small wedding (50 people) and after visiting Koryo sushi for dinner one night we decided to hire them. The menu for catering was easy to use which was very helpful. Prices are super reasonable. Owner is a friendly direct no nonsense lady. The sushi was ready on time and was gorgeously plated. I was very busy and didn't get a chance to eat much but our guests loved it and all the sushi vanished in no time. I was very grateful to not have to worry about food for the event. A group of friends and I came here on a Saturday night after the bars because it was one of the only restaurants still open in the area, until 2am. So of course they get the late night crew. It seemed a little busy but after getting seated by the bathroom we didn't really like the smell. They gave us a jug to pour our own water into tea cups and my cup had a lipstick stain.. (I didn't wear lipstick that day). We were a little grossed out and asked for new cups, everyone else got regular blue cups and we got another set of tea cups. My friends were grossed out and refused to drink the water. I only wanted miso soup, and we placed our orders. Mid way through some wanted to cancel but it was too late. We got the seaweed/octopus salad and a couple of rolls. The rolls were pretty good and quality of food given the late night. We came in again around 9/10, superrr hard to find parking this time. There is street parking but it's usually always filled. When we came in it was busier than usual but there was still enough space. We ordered 4 rolls and the total was around $20-25 I think. The servers were nice as always and food came out quick. I'm not sure what the exact reason was, but we got matcha ice cream on the house! It was a nice surprise to end our night. If you've eaten a lot of good, fresh sushi, this place should fare better than worse on your list of favorites, but not too close to the top. However, it's definitely a great stop for a belated dinner! This place has been around since before I was in college (many, many moons ago), and they consistently (in my experience) deliver high quality, super tasty sushi & Japanese food at a very reasonable price. We ordered the edamame, which was plump & juicy with just the right amount of salt, the gyoza, which were savory & perfectly crispy, and several special rolls, which were all delicious. During our dine-in visit, staff were all super pleasant & wearing masks / gloves, and all of the tables that were seated were more than 6 feet apart. It's always reassuring to see every member of a restaurant's staff taking every precaution they can till adhere to Covid safety mandates (since the pandemic is not over by any means). But I got 3 small pieces for $10. Delicious but I think too expensive. I got the fried chicken appetizer. Good but again $10 for a small amount. I got the shrimp tempura. Very disappointing. $12 for 4 mushy and icky shrimps. Not enuf tempura dipping sauce. I got the potato croquette. $10 for 2 tiny circles of overly processed potatoes. Definitely from frozen. Shame. 2 tbsp of potato costing $10. I got the tempura roll. I ate one piece and I literally had to spit it out. F**k! So nasty!! My husband ate a sashimi order and said it was ok. Lately we've been ordering delivery from Koryo and yesterday an item that we ordered was out of stock so they canceled our order. We made the same order today and the item was missing again so after informing us of the issue they gave us the option of substituting another roll for the unavailable one. Once the delivery reached our building we were surprised and honored they had included an additional roll for us free of charge. It was so bad I went to my pantry to look for beef broth or something to help this poor prepared dish. In the end I ate the small three pieces of chasu and threw the rest out. Speaking of chasu the slices are small and are mediocre at best. Just a heads up if you order for delivery the ramen ans toppings will arrive in a small plastic carton, so have a medium to large sized bowl ready when you get it. The Golden Gate roll has a very over powering ginger smell and you might find yourself spitting out the skin of the grilled salmon. In all a complete waste of $30 read more

Total hidden gem! New fav sushi place in Oakland as of last year. They actually use the right ratio of vinegar on the rice here. The rolls are varied and unique and my vegetarian friends like it too. Highly recommend the Shrek roll and I think their Tekka Maki is solid-- my go-to roll for testing sushi quality. I've frequented many of the late night spots around for sushi and this place has the best quality and isn't over priced either. Literally the only place with a good hand-roll. They've also done a few small things here and there that really make me feel appreciated as a customer-- they forgot one of my rolls once and I was willing to come back for it so they included an additional roll for free. Another time I made a huge order for a party and they again included a few extra rolls. It's been a long time since any business has given a little something extra for free! This place has fell off!! Skip the Tiger Roll, it's very fishy. I asked for No Masego (Fish eggs) and they put it on there anyway. I am allergic to it. Also, the wasabi was very weak. It didn't give the strong burning sensation like it usually does, they gave 2 packs of soy sauce. This place really should go out of business. It was so good 20 years ago. But it must be under new management because it's horrible. The only redeemable thing is the Yakiniku Stick, that was good but at almost $7 for 2 very small sticks, you would need at least 3-4 orders and a side of rice to get full.
