Koshin Bento is my new go-to spot for delivery or pick-up when I'm craving Japanese comfort food in a bento box. This place delivers fresh, flavorful bento boxes with high quality ingredients and top quality cooking techniques. So far, I've had the wagyu yakiniku bento and wagyu hamburger bento. For my first time, I ordered the wagyu yakiniku bento via delivery and I was already blown away -- perfectly grilled, moist, and seasoned just right. Everything tasted homemade and thoughtfully prepared. The wagyu hamburger steak was also a generous size and juicy and flavorful. I've been to Japan 3x and this was exactly what I look for in a hanbaga steak. So glad this is around now! The portions are generous, and the prices are super reasonable for the quality. Pricing was fair for the quality and portion size. We'd definitely consider using them for catering as well. I was very happy with the quality of food at Koshin Bento. My wife and I picked up two bento boxes (duck confit and wagyu hamburger) along with fried oysters. We were pleasantly surprised that the oysters were still warm and crispy and would recommend ordering this. We were also happy with every element of the bento boxes, from the sides, rice, and proteins. However, there wasn't much food and we were left still feeling hungry. I would recommend raising prices and increasing the amount of protein in the meals. More sides would also be great because they're super tasty. If we order from there again, we'd order three bento boxes between two people. This was overall a great meal and we had a great time having a picnic at nearby Washington Park. Solid food choice. The SO got 6 piece of takoyaki, 3 piece side of fried oyster and the wagyu yakiniku bento. You can add extra rice, protein etc for addition cost. He liked it all and it survived a 30 min drive home. It was gone so quickly the camera did not eat first. In total cost came out to 44.19. I booked Chef Koji for a small dinner party to celebrate a friend's 50th. Despite short notice (1.5 weeks), he secured fresh Sanma from Japan and upgraded our sashimi course. He even created a custom vegan menu for one guest, which was impressive given the seafood focus of Japanese cuisine. Koshin bento is probably my fav lunch in the Bay Area. It's healthy, balanced, and more importantly, very tasty. I got impressed by the taste and started ordering almost every single day. The healthy and refreshing meal has helped improve my focus at work, and improved my health (lost a few pounds). I can see and taste the thoughtfulness behind the meals, so started to be curious about the owner. After reading the chef's story on their website, I understood why the food was so intriguing. The chef's persistence over high quality everyday bento is prescious, and the Japanese/French fusion style made me think of my hometown. Review on our Private Chef experience I contacted Chef Koji via their website and booked him for a small dinner party of 6 adults celebrating a great friend's 50th birthday. We did a special order for Mother's Day. After a couple emails, we finalized the order: a vegetarian bento for myself, and also a 10 inch wagyu cake to celebrate Mother's Day. I loved my bento! The pickled tomato and side salads were very fresh and tasty. The rice was well cooked, and the tempura was very crisp too! They had a very thin coating and kept the freshness and the juice of the veggies inside. The wagyu cake was good too, according to my partner. Koji and his wife were hired for my friend's birthday at my home last week and man did they do a great job!!! Koji cooked up a delicious 8 course meal and he even accommodated my pregnancy and cooked a separate menu for me. Koji surprised us with many extras such as really rare fish from Japan that was out of his price range but got it for us any way and supplying the A5 drunken wagyu was such a highlight. His wife who served us was an angel and had spoken in detail about all the dishes served. The b'day girl's 1 year old son couldnt stop hugging her. She was so sweet. They were both attentive and hospitable and left my kitchen spotless. They even brought their own trash bins! Koji was quick at responding to my emails prior to the event and fulfilled all my requests. Great find, great hire. read more

Koshin Bento is one of those rare finds for me that once I tried it, I just keep going back. The chef's menu and seasonal dishes ensure that one never gets bored and the food is always fresh. Such high quality and genuine Japanese food in the Bay Area usually comes at exorbitant prices. But Koshin is not only reasonably priced for food that I haven't been able to find anywhere else short of hopping on a plane, but it's also made with a healthy diet in mind, which isn't usually the case whenever I choose to done out. Great delivery bento! Daily bento is great, and we appreciate the service and customization (we only get cooked takeout because of COVID and requested no salad). I love the fried oyster! We popped them in the oven so they would be extra crispy and hot! Great variety of flavors and good quality ingredients :) I wish there was more appetizer and less rice (although the rice is nice and fluffy). We ate all the appetizers but still had a lot of rice left. Everything tasted good, but the cheese on the lotus appetizer was a little too sour. I usually love lotus, so I would suggest no cheese next time. :) read more

I highly recommend this place for catering. I had a birthday party today for my daughter. I contacted the owner about two weeks ago to order bento boxes for a group of 24 people. He replied to me right away and accommodated with all my requests and it was 10pm at night! Today, I was very busy with setting up the tables and welcoming all the guests and I couldn't pick up the phone and check mesg. They tried all ways to reach me and brought the bentos to the table very fast. Although they were a few minutes late than the original time, I have no complaints but recommend this place to you if you want Japanese bentos! Oh! Most important thing!
