For decades now, my family and I have been shopping here for their high-quality meats and premium seafood. Located on the Sand Hill Road side of the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, there is ample parking in the lot. Upon entering the small & clean store, customers are greeted by organized displays of spices, sauces, and other high-end grocery products as well as glass cases showcasing expertly and thoughtfully arranged cuts of meat and beautifully presented quality selections of fish and poultry. The veteran butcher is also known for their made-to-order sandwiches, deli fare and their signature feature, "Fred Steak," marinated sirloin highly praised for its bold marinade and striking presentation. Don't let the coal-black appearance scare you away from the famous Fred's Marinated Steak - the flavour profile is a crowd favourite. In college, I met many Koreans and befriended some of them and they introduced me to Korean food and more specifically Korean BBQ. In the late 90's and early 2000's, a night of clubbing and drinking would invariably lead us to Koreatown in Mid-Town Manhattan where many KBBQ restaurants were open late into the wee hours of the night and early morning. There my love for Korean BBQ was born, bred, and grew. We've tried many KBBQ spots across the country since then. Some really fancy, some hole in the walls, and tasty, plentiful, and varied banchan and fresh tasty meats were the essential components of a good KBBQ. At 10 Butchers, the food is right up there with some of the best we've had-ever! The banchan is fresh and diverse and the meats are of excellent quality. But what really sets this place apart is the service and ambiance. First, to get a reservation, you have to request one. 10 Butchers will review your request and get back to you with an answer. This is very different and more onerous than just booking a table on Resy, Tock, or OpenTable. And while it can be a bit challenging, when you finally get a reservation, it feels like an invitation to a special even-which it is! Given your table size, you will also be given a time limit. When you see how packed the place is every day of just bout every hour, you'll know why. Many come here to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or just too have a special night out. They have set-private rooms and large tables for bigger groups, as well as booths and intimate tables for couples. I would suggest not filling up on appetizers, we just typically get the Nakji Pajeon (seafood pancake) so you can focus on the star of the show, the meats. As the name suggests and the window to the kitchen shows, this place has some of the best meat around, beautifully marbled and wonderfully presented. The meats are also expertly cooked by the staff to your liking, and the grill is changed every time a new meat is cooked. We particularly like the Wagyu beef tongue, Wagyu brisket, Wagyu chuck flap, pork jowls, and of course the prime bone-in short rib. We also ask for lettuce and rice (additional charges) to make wraps, and the banchan is constantly being filled. Additionally, one other special thing is that unlike a lot of KBBQ places where a hood vent is above you to capture the smoke, the vents here are under the table so you don't come out of the place smelling like your dinner! The atmosphere and vibe of the place is modern but inviting. For Sunnyvale, it is a hopping restaurant reminiscent of the best spots in NY's Koreatown. Request a reservation and hopefully you'll be invited to one of the best KBBQ experiences you'll ever have!

It's like a cross between a western style bbq joint and a middle eastern twist with its meats and food. Turns out, this place is mainly an Afghan restaurant! It's half eatery half a butcher shop for people to come and purchase fresh meats for some home cooking. In fact, I watched a lot of people coming in and ordering meats to go. I ordered their chili lamb kabob which was tender and juicy. It had lots of flavor from the spices but enough to where it wasn't overwhelming. I ordered it on top of a pillow of rice which was fluffy and buttery textured. It was delicious. There are sauce bottles to pair with the meats which is my favorite part. I really liked their white creamy yogurt sauce mixed with their red house chili sauce. It gave my lamb meat so much flavor and some heat. I loved my order and will definitely order two next time. I also want to try their steaks. They take their time grilling their meats so orders can take a short while. It's worth it for sure. No complaints here but I do wish they played some light music in the background for some ambiance. Things can be real quiet in here so it can be awkward dining in. Other than that, I really like this place and will be back for more.
