I ordered the spinach and mushroom bagel sandwich, and it was so yummy. It came out nice and hot, and you can tell everything was made fresh, adding some hot sauce took it to another level. I also tried the Vietnamese iced coffee, it was good. Gave me a boost of energy for sure. It paired perfectly with my evening breakfast. I was working a mile away and this was my closest hope for a decent morning snack. There's a nice sized parking lot here. You'll find they have a decent sized menu and a few hand written specials. I got the chorizo and egg bagel sandwich. The chorizo wasn't bad and the bagel was pretty fresh. I came in for a bagel dog but they weren't ready or available around 730am. I won't hold it against them but I had my heart set on it lol. The lady that helped me was super nice. Genuine and kind to all of the customers that came in. This isn't gonna be in my top 3 bagel joints of all time but the price is good and the bagels are fresh. Very small mom and pop bagel and sandwich shop. I came by with my old coworker to catch up over lunch on a weekday and the bagel selection was quite slim. There were only a couple of bagels left, which was quite surprising since they don't close until 3pm. My old coworker had a bagel and I had the pesto grilled eggplant sandwich on jalapeno cheese bread. I enjoyed my sandwich and was surprised by how flavorful it was! I'd happily come back just for this sandwich on days I'm not feeling like having meat! Both the sandwich and bagel came with a small cookie, which I thought was a sweet gesture. read more

Love this little spot. Lots of parking and it's never too busy when I visit (I've come during the weekdays around 8-9 and sometimes weekends around 11). I'm always helped by this kind woman who has the warmest smile on her face :) this is my 4th or 5th time here, it's near my work so it's convenient for a quick bite. Food is always made pretty quick, I'm never waiting long. Eggwich deluxe with bacon on a cheese bagel is my go-to. I wish they had more sweet treats like donuts or pastries, but it's probably for the best that they don't, I would've gained a crazy amount of weight by now Pics are from my most recent visit, the woman working gave me a little cookie ! Lovely local place! My wife and I have been in twice and the woman who helped us recognized us on the second trip. She was so sweet and gave us desserts for free both times! I came to Fresh U on a rainy Wednesday morning. There were 2 staff members behind the counter and 1 other customer but the store was extremely quiet. The store has an eclectic set of furniture. The staff were both very smiley and kind. I ordered the Spinach Mushroom Eggwich (~$7.40) on a plain bagel and it was prepped quickly. It was good, but I felt like the bagel-which was missing something. Salsa? Salt? Hot Sauce? The plain bagel itself had a very gummy texture. Similar to a Thomas bagel. It wasn't my favorite. Great local spot for a nova lox bagel. This shop is large, clean, and has the friendliest service! I came in at noon and they were on their last bagels for the day, but I was lucky enough to snag the last everything bagel for my sandwich. The owner also threw in a free cookie for me :) The texture of the bagel had the perfect chew and complimented every other part of the sandwich. The spread was velvety and the salmon was tasty, there was no sign of that slimy consistency that I've come across at other bagel shops before. I'm so glad I found this place, I'll need to try out their other bagels and sandwiches soon. I also saw that they have a bagel box that consists of 12 bagels and 2 schmears, so I'll definitely be stopping by here the next time I'm grabbing bagels for the office! read more

Visited yesterday to quash a bagel craving. Had never been here before but it was nearby. Clean interior and welcoming staff. It was after lunch so it was empty and the selection was relatively small but surprisingly still varied, and they had the sesame bagel I wanted. They use a turbochef for toasting and while I prefer a regular toaster, it is definitely quick! The amount of cream cheese was sufficient (a tiny scrape of cream cheese for $2+ is a pet peeve of mine) and tasty. There's some seating but I got mine to go. There's a pretty large menu of choices, some of which I'd kind oflike to try. There's a breakfast bagel special that looks really good. They don't accept tips and how refreshing is that?!? I don't get over to that area much anymore, but I'll definitely be back when I am. read more

I ordered the Eggwich Deluxe (breakfast all day btw!) and a Vietnamese coffee. The bagel was pretty good and soft; I actually got some spice from the jalapeño cheddar. There's a variety of bagels to choose from. The Vietnamese coffee was just okay; I didn't taste that distinct strong and sweet flavors from the coffee & condensed milk that VN coffee is known for. I chose to visit this place because it was open early and would allow me to start my workday in a focused/quiet environment. I originally planned to order basic morning items to fuel me up (warm beverage and a simple breakfast) but I instantly changed my mind after seeing the interesting options on the hanging menu board. I did not expect to see a New York-themed bagel sandwich on the menu! This pleasant surprise inspired me to order the item, dubbed: "Nova Lox". As I settled my belongings nearby and waited for my order, I was filled with excitement as I was eager to see the final presentation of the "Nova Lox". My order was carefully wrapped and had a considerable weight to it. When I unwrapped my food present and had my first glance at the outside surface of the sandwich, I knew I was in for a treat. I decided to open the sandwich up to inspect its inner contents. I was flushed with happiness as the bagel was filled as much as it could possibly get with the salmon, cream cheese, and a considerable amount of capers. At my first bite, I could not stop eating and barely took any pauses when enjoying my "Nova Lox". The quality and price ratio for my order was also surprising as I thought I'd end up paying a premium. The price point was definitely more than affordable! PESTO EGGPLANT SANDWICH with dutch crunch. AMAZING. I'm not even a vegetarian and i love it!! It's really really good. I had it on a friday and had it again on the following monday xD it has melted cheese, sliced peppers to give a bit of spice (not too spicy) and other veges like tomatoes, lettuce, etc. The workers are super nice, and they have all sorts of drinks, chips, baked good available as well. I did try their soup of the day and it was not very good xD it was kind of creamy but spicy and had an odd herb in it. the vegetables in it didnt seem cooked enough. it was just the weirdest soup ive ever had. lolol read more

There are people who say that I haven't really connected with the Bay Area vibe. I keep my hair short. I shave, almost daily. Nothing is tattooed. Nothing is pierced. Especially that. Nothing I eat is vegan, organic, raw, or particularly dolphin safe. What the hell has a dolphin ever done for me, anyway? Flipper was a crap show. I even drive a (gasp) 6 cylinder car. If it weren't for the fact that I voted for Obama, I'm not even certain that they'd let me own land in this city, or shop during daylight hours. That said, there is one Bay Area value that I hold dear... shopping locally. I mean, I can spend my $10 at Subway and have my money sent nationwide in one-hundredth-of-a-penny increments to stockholders who were marginally charmed by the 90's "Jared" campaign and threw $50 at e-trade, but at the end of the day, what real good comes from that? I'd rather go to a little local shop and support a family that lives down the street from me. So I buy my cars used from local dealers, I get breakfast and my coffee on my way to work at FUO rather than a Starbucks, I buy my ties at a thrift shop, and I keep my money in the community. I'd rather have a dollar of my money go to put braces on a local kid's teeth than a drop in the bucket of a multibillion dollar corporation. Anyway, the sandwiches are really good, they're reasonably priced, the time I hit it in the morning it's quick in and out, and I don't feel like I'm jamming overprocessed meats and cheeses into a flour-and-water white bread roll and eating nothing but carbs and fat. Real food. Real people at the counter. Real fresh-baked bagels. Keeping my money in the local economy, in hopes that the butterfly effect will someday lead to reasonable rent. read more

Their spinach and mushroom eggwich is awesome! Mushrooms, spinach, and melted cheese mixed in a yummy omelette sandwiched between your choice of a bagel-- I prefer the organic spinach asiago bagel. It's a bit pricey at $3.99 but soo worth it when you bite into the warm gooey cheese! They sell out of bagels past noon so I recommend buying some by lunchtime. The only sandwich I've tried is the CA club and it's delicious on jalapeño cheese bread; it's not actually spicy despite the name. Employees are super friendly and the orders are prepared pretty fast. My coworkers and I have recently ordered their $12.99 office package consisting of 12 bagels and your choice of 2 cream cheese tubs. I recommend the blueberry cream cheese-- it's delicious! The only issue is that you have to order your dozen before 9am because most of the bagels sell out quickly, especially the blueberry, cinnamon crunch, and chocolate chip. I had to preorder bagels at 8am the second time we ordered and picked them up at 9am. Despite this issue, I highly recommend this place for a breakfast on the go. read more

With Fresh U next door, I don't see why anyone would ever frequent the neighboring Subway. Well... Unless you really crave a sandwich in late afternoon or cold rock hard subs are your thing. Each sandwich is made to order and always come out hot. Bread is fresh and ingredients are tasty. Their breakfast eggwich (available all day) is my favorite - fluffy egg in between a dense and chewy bagel, perfect meal to start a day. While the sandwiches might not be award winning, Fresh U is still a neighborhood gem. I wish they could expand their veggie selection or offer egg white variety for those with diet restrictions. read more

This place is a like a deranged Specialty's. It's a Vietnamese family owned cafe, that has baked goods, sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, smoothies...it's all over the place. Co-worker and I dropped in for a quick lunch and noticed that they had breakfast sandwiches. So I got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich bolstered with a bagel dog. Co-worker got the turkey club with bacon and sprouts and we were pretty happy. It's quick and cheap and it sure beats going to Subway next door. They brew Peerless Coffee and Tazo teas for those of you who need a caffeine fix. Since they just opened, there will be a number of specials throughout the month and it's hard not to like a mom&pop style place with friendly service. 3.5 stars. read more

This place is bad... Bad for my wallet that is. I think I just found my new favorite place to have lunch at work. I just got a lunch special which was a half turkey avocado sandwich and a lobster bisque and it was $1 off. The sandwich was great! I think the best part was the bread, it just felt so heavy and full of fresh ingredients, it felt real nice in my hand as opposed to other dinky sandwiches I've had recently from chains that will remain unnamed. I can't wait to come back and try everything else! It's pretty affordable too, I want more! NOW! I love that they have a good variety of soups daily too, i need to try all the soups here as well, I need to try it all!! Very friendly people as well :). Parking does kind of suck, and please do a loyalty or stamp card program if you don't already have one, because I'll be here at least once a week! read more

This place is A-OK. I rarely have time to eat breakfast but today I got to work early and was craving cranberry bagels with Roasted tomatoes cream cheese (RANDOM I KNOW!) But They didn't have any cranberry bagels :( they had the dried tomatoes cream cheese though.... But then I saw they all had something called the Spinach and mushroom Eggwhich. I looked on yelp real quick and seems like everyone was raving about it... It's honestly not THAT amazing. I was hungry and it satisfied my stomach but not my tastebuds.
