I've been wanting to try this place mainly because they sell kidney and liver kabob, on the weekend. I went in around 2:30pm on Saturday, and they were all out if kidney/liver. We did end up getting koobideh, heart and veggies. Everything was absolutely delicious for an amazing price. The koobideh was juicy and flavorful, better than most persian restaurants nowadays. The heart was also good, but definitely not something for everyone. I am excited to come back to try the liver/kidney if all of this was so good! You can call beforehand for takeout because it does take around 20-30 minutes for it to be ready. I called multiple times trying to place an order and no one was picking up. When I walked in I saw it was only one guy working and he apologized for not answering as they had a large order. Had a catering lunch from them. We ordered Beef Kebabs, Chicken Kebabs, Falefal, Roasted Veggie, Pita Bread, Couscous, Tomato-Cucumber salad. I'm very happy with their beef kebabs and chicken kebabs, they are not dry at all! In fact, the chicken seemed to be more like cooked in moist instead of grilled as it has some sauce at the bottom. Walked in here by accident and almost missed it!!! This place looks empty and a bit rundown from the outside. Inside, the store was nearly empty and stocked with only very basic Middle Eastern items. I was craving kabobs, but it was hard to find someone to take the order at first. Eventually, I found the guy sitting in the back and placed the order. So I told my friends to come here because I thought this place was Rose market. But apparently, I made a mistake because I didn't know they had burned down and rebuild. Well, regardless I told them to buy steak, koobideh, chicken, veggies, Jalapeño and it did NOT disappoint. Everything was delicious even the lavish piece under the meat was delish. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the canned hummus and babagnoush. Other than that we had a great meal. It did take awhile but totally worth it. Really really solid (halal) chicken kebabs at such nominal prices. I'm rating it 4 for the food and taste but it's absolutely 5 for value for money. Prices have increased slightly from the menu listed last on Yelp (by around 50 cents) but incredible value, no kidding. For the price, you get the kebab and a whole lavash bread with it. Probably not enough for a whole meal but accompanied with some additional carbs, it's a perfect post workout meal at a great price. Marination is good, it's a little mild for me at times from whatever I've tried thus far but that's totally okay. I've tried the chicken kabob, the chicken skewers and the spicy Lahori chicken tikka and I'd rate all of them 4/5. The halal chicken was good, tender enough. Usually the oil falls off on the lavash bread and the bread becomes a little soggy which actually makes it taste good. They sell rice separately but I've never gotten that. Order ahead because they typically take 25 minutes to have it ready and also don't take order 30 minutes before closing, so don't leave it too late. Cash discount so carry cash if possible. Parking available outside. It's inside a supermarket so it's only takeout of course. I've never shopped at the supermarket itself, only been here to pickup the halal food. I think it's family owned. Further research revealed that they cook their food over charcoal, which is rare since most restaurants/establishments use gas grills instead. That's it, I'm sold. I came here on 07/30/2022 at around 4:45 pm. It was a bit hard to find since they occupy a tiny space near the southeast corner of Wolfe and El Camino Real. The owner was taking an order over the phone when I walked in. I took the time to look around and found the interior to the clean. On the left side, there was a fridge storing all kinds of homemade desserts. Several shelves full of Middle Eastern items took up the middle space. In the back, there was a small meat counter selling beef, lamb, and veal. The owner greeted me after hanging up the phone. He was friendly and soft spoken. I later found out he was from Iraq and has been running this market for about two years. After I placed my owner, he and one of his relatives went straight to work. Here's what I got: - Beef and Lamb Kebabs (x4) - Chicken skewers (x4) - Lahori Chicken Tikka (x2) - Barg (x2) - Grilled vegetables (x2) My order came with three servings of lavash and a bag of herb and mixed green salad. The total was a very reasonable $75 (I got an extra bag of lavash too). My order was ready at the time promised. Everything was packaged neatly. The food was absolutely fantastic, even after a 45-minute drive home! All the meats were well flavored, tender, and juicy. The kebabs, made with beef and lamb, were not gamy at all. The chicken skewers and barg (sirloin steak), marinated with saffron and other spices, were very flavorful. The Lahori chicken tikka had a nice hint of spiciness. The portions were very generous. Kabobs come with a layer of bread on the bottom, and the meats covered by aluminum foil. We took them home to eat. 10 minutes later back at home, we immediately eat the meats with cooked basmati rice. The chicken kabob is very dry, as all the juices are soaked into the bread, and bread and kabobs don't go well together. The beef/lamb kabob is juicier, probably 90% beef with little lamb taste. The vegetable kabob with onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes is on the blackened side, with a strong charcoal taste. Overcooked. Meals come with a salad, mostly parsley, with some mixed lettuce. End up tossing half of the salad as inedible, even to the wife who eats all types of greens. Despite the shortcomings, got to give 4 stars for incredible value alone. We called ahead to order and picked it up around 1pm on a Saturday: Kabob - Ground beef and lamb, mixed with onion and spices. Very flavorful, tender, and juicy. This was very similar to koobideh in Persian cuisine. Chicken kabob - Ground chicken version of the kabob above. A very different flavor from the beef kabob, but also very flavorful, tender, and juicy Barg - Pieces of sirloin, marinated in saffron and house spices. They were very juicy and flavorful when eaten immediately, but got a little tough when eaten 30 minutes later when we got home. Spicy Lahori Chicken Tikka - Pieces of skinless, boneless chicken breasts marinated in Lahori sauce. Overcooked and dry, not worth getting again. Tomato skewer - I love grilled tomatoes, but it just didn't taste the same without rice. On our subsequent visits, we ordered just the kabob, chicken kabob, and barg. Oh, and we always ask for no sumac, since it's a flavor we don't care for. The only downside is they serve the kabobs with lavash only, and no rice - so we end up making rice at home, and it definitely hits the spot. We got dinner from Al Forat. I asked my husband to drive from Fremont to Sunnyvale. 30 mins there and 30 mins back but wow, it was worth it. We got 4 beef kababs, 4 chicken kababs, 4 chicken skewers and 1 tandoori chicken (which is 4 pieces of tandoori chicken). I made a fresh salad with the greens. We warmed up the food in the oven when my husband got home and it tasted so good! The lavash bread under the meat was delicious. My husband is on a keto diet and this was perfect for that. I saw several people asking about keto in this group and definitely Al Forat fits the bill. Just skip the lavash bread if you're doing keto. All the food was really good but we all decided that our favourite was the chicken skewer. It's chicken breast charbroiled - which is very easy to dry out if you don't know what you're doing. it's obvious Al Forat knows what they're doing! It was so juicy. second favourite was the tandoori chicken followed by either kababs. But honestly, I could eat any of these options any day. What really makes this place are the owners who literally make this into a 2 person outfit a la mom&pop. Once in a while someone will yell "Iraqi style! The skewers are very large and pretty tasty for the most part. Some of the options can be kind of dry. Also, the meat could have been a little less charred. But overall, I really enjoyed the skewers and the portions are quite generous. Many different varieties to choose from! First time stopping by this place to check out their chicken and beef kabobs. It was recommended by a friend of ours. In addition ordering the chicken and beef kabobs, the lady also recommended ordering "the barq" top sirloin (the most expensive item on their menu $5.99). For the amount of food ordered only cost $25.44 and that's super cheap comparing to other kabobs places in the Bay Area. They also give us a giant sheet size of tortilla with our order. The meat marinating is slightly different than what I am used to - still good thou. However one of beef kabob was completely undercooked , it was raw inside and some bits of the chicken were slightly undercooked as well. Amazing service and great variety of international middle eastern products. I love all of the kabobs especially the perfectly grilled ground chicken and mixed grilled vegetables. There is no dining area but you can call ahead for takeout. I also love their fresh baklavas. read more

Blink and you'll miss this market place in the tiny strip mall parallel to El Camino. Next to a swim supply store and a massage place is this gem of a market. This hidden gem serves the best kebabs ever! They make it upon order and usually the foil containers are still so steamy hot that it may burn your hands. Be warned! We've ordered the kebabs on numerous occasions , from a standard weekday dinner to a family birthday gathering. The kebabs are a hit with my family and extended family. The meat is flavorful and full of amazing seasonings from garlic,onions, and spices. My family really can't get enough of these beef kebabs. The chicken is a close second as it's tender and juicy. I'm not into the spicy heat so I can't speak for their other spicy options. They also have grilled vegetables (tomatoes are my favorite) and pita upon request. The market has a few aisles of essentially and ethnic items. Truthfully, I've only gotten chips or candy aside from the kebabs. Parking can be tough as there are only a few spots in front. Circle around a few times or park in the back if needed. Give them meats and kebabs a try. It's worth it!! read more
