The service was medicore at best our waitress reeked of cigarettes. The restaurant had more staff than people . I ordered the onion petals and what I received was not how it was described in the menu it was like overly fried chunks of onions served on a bed of lettuce carnival style food. When i made my way to the main course the burger was terrible I received Greek style fries and it appeared as if I received an ocean of grease on my plate it soaked into my burger. The burger itself was covered in BBQ and overly done in BBQ they covered the onions and BBQ sauce in cheese so I was unable to remove it without destroying my cheese there was enough BBQ sauce under the cheese for Four burgers. read more

SUMMARY: the food was ok, but then again, we only had three items on their very large menu. I know the locals swear by this place; we were sent in by a friend who says the place is packed every night. It's a casual family-style place, offering Greek-- in the south and in the mountains--so if you don't *expect* authentic Greek or *terrific* food, you'll be satisfied. (And to be fair, I am comparing Kosta's to other LOCAL restaurants.) FIVE STARS FOR SERVICE Very friendly and capable service offered. Our waitress was attentive and took extra care to make sure our meal was prepared properly, keeping in mind that my guy has certain food allergies. Our waitress, Kaylene, was wonderful. And the manager(?) who served the Saganaki and took our payment was super friendly. FOOD TWO STARS Ok, so keeping in mind the location and "local" customer base, I wouldn't say it is the best Greek (or even that it is authentic Greek) I've ever had. My guy had the Blackened Tuna special ($13) (seared rare), and we had to question whether it was even tuna; it was definitely frozen and of mediocre quality. (I moved from an ocean-side town and so had fresh fish daily, plus, we tend to eat fish each time we dine out) The potato seemed like it had been baked the day previous and reheated for our meal; very dry. Butter and sour cream came in little plastic packets. However, the chef did sear the tuna quite close to perfect. We had "Flaming Cheese" ($7) as an app, and it was very good. I question why they don't call it by its Greek name "Saganaki". Again, is this because they think the "local" patrons can't pronounce SAGANAKI? Same with SPANAKOPITA:which was named "Spinach Pie" on their menu. Odd. (Spinach pie doesn't sound nearly as appealing as Spanikopita--note to those that design the next menu!) Anyway, the presentation of the Saganaki/Flaming Cheese was great, served with a loud exclamation of OPA! and flames shooting a foot or more high; that was fun. The "Spinach pie" ($8) was only okay; it made me look around for hot sauce for more flavor... sorry, but that is true. The ketchup on the table was from Sysco Food Service, and it seems like a lot of the food was prepared by Sysco, rather than in the back of their kitchen...prepared in mass quanitites, frozen, and re-heated... My greek salad was good, but how can you mess up olive oil dressing, cheese, and lettuce? The wine is inexpensive and palatable at $5. They do offer two Greek wines,which I will try next time. The ambiance is casual, family style, and comfortable. It's a cute place in a cute town (I love Dillsboro's main street) I plan to return at least once more (my rule is try a place twice to be fair: anyone can have an "off" night) And it's pretty cheap. (2 entrees, 1 wine, & 1 appetizer $35, plus $9 tip for excellent service! =$44) I would love to see Dolmas on the menu, that would get me back faster! read more

The pasta "Alfredo" with chicken is horrible. The sauce was the consistency of paste. It had little to no actual flavor. The chicken with it tasted like it was cooked yesterday and microwaved. The pasta was thick over cooked spaghetti. The Greek chicken was very dry. On par with grocery store rotisserie chicken at twice the price. Honestly growing up around Greek friends and family this is Greek food like taco bell is Mexican. The service is very nice and atmosphere is pleasant. We love Kostas! This is our favorite lunch spot and we find ourselves enjoying a to go order from Kostas too since we never have to worry about the order being wrong! The orders are always warm, full of flavor and enjoyable! Food has always been great here, service is usually pretty good as well. Today Caitlyn was our server, she never told us her name, our waters weren't refilled once during our meal. Upon getting our check, we had a $2 charge for blackened chicken. I wasn't notified of the up charge for chicken, and there was nothing in fine print on the menu, and I told management upon paying. I was from out of town just passing through the area and came across this nice little Greek American restaurant. Had the gyro which was great in flavor, super fast and friendly waitstaff. I live in Dillsboro and love to eat here. Their Lemon Chicken soup is a real comfort food. My granddaughter starts asking Mimi to go to her favorite restaurant (Kostas) the minute she gets here. I had friends up to visit a few weeks ago and they liked it so well we went back 2 nights in a row. The staff is friendly and eager to help. A family atmosphere. I like Kostas, eaten there for years. I feel lately the are slipping. The food used to be great, now not as much and I think they have a hard time keeping help. They kinda get away with the quality of food and help slipping because the train stops in Dillsboro and there is very limited eating options in that town for the train riders. I love love love this place. the chicken CAESAR pita is worth every cent...always fresh...always satisfying and delicious.
