Kotecki's hosted the Giangrosso wedding on 10/19/2024. As the groom, I cannot imagine our wedding any other way. My bride was so unbelievably happy with Kotecki's hospitality and swift action when things were needed urgently. You can tell that CEO Kate Kotecki has been in the wedding business for many years. The way she organized this wedding was unmatched, and more than I ever expected. From ordering flowers last minute (literally on our wedding day) after an issue with our first batch, checking on us regularly on our wedding day... I cannot put it into words how amazing this woman is. It felt like she was part of the family on our wedding day. She is a professional who obviously has mastered every aspect of weddings / wedding planning. She was so warm and welcoming to us, and stayed by our sides until the very end when the lights went on. My wedding reception was held at Kotecki's on Saturday October 30, 2021. The room we had was the Cecilia room, which was more than accommodating for our reception. This is where the positives end. We ran out of hor d'oeuvres fairly quickly into the reception, as the wedding party barely got anything at the head table. At one table, two guests got food poisoning. While this can't specifically be tied to eating at Kotecki's, it happened soon after eating the food prepared at the reception. Another guest at the same table was delayed in getting served dinner, even though a detailed menu was arranged far enough in advance. Once her food was brought to the table, it was not what she had ordered. Her chicken was RAW, but the server at Kotecki's said it was "smoked" Nothing on our dinner menu was smoked. This guest who was served raw chicken developed an upset stomach fairly quickly after eating just one bite of food. While they have an excellent atmosphere and ambiance, the service was horrible for the amount of money that was paid. The in-house DJ barely played any of the songs we requested, even though a detailed list was provided to him well in advance of the event date. He kept pestering us as we talked to guests at each table. This was highly unprofessional and annoying to say the least. As the groom, I wanted to thank and speak with each guest and NOT be rushed through the process. At least we didn't also have the ceremony here. The Yelp reviews of Kotecki's are either really great ("my son married the love of his life and it was amazing!") or really bad ("the food was terrible and they ran out"). This is unfortunate because the truth is somewhere in the middle. I went to a wedding at Kotecki's in July 2019 and had a fine experience with several pros and cons. Here you go, hope it is helpful. Pros: - Space/ambience. Kotecki's has two large, pretty ballrooms with plenty of seating (150-200 people), dance floor, elevated area for the head table. The ambience feels special like a wedding should but not fancy or stuffy. The house DJ was friendly and kept the party going for several hours. - Outdoor availability. Our wedding had a nice cocktail hour in an outdoor courtyard. There was an open bar off to the side and a large tent with tables under it, so you could even have outdoor time if it's raining. I think they also have a gazebo if you want to use it for a ceremony. - Accessibility: Kotecki's is pretty close to Buffalo and many suburbs and there is ample parking on site for a big crew. Con: - Food. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, the food was subpar. The cheese and veggie appetizer tray was fine but the crackers on the side were Ritz crackers and they ran out half way through cocktail hour. The first course was a basket of extremely cheap, soft rolls (hawaiian rolls that you can buy at any grocery store) and a very small salad (like one layer of lettuce). The main course consisted of two large piece of meat (steak and ham-stuffed chicken) which both tasted like they came out of the freezer. We also got a pile of mashed potatoes which were likely from a mix and about 8 green beans (also tasted like the freezer). Dessert was one small scoop of vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. So all in all not a great meal, particularly for a wedding. read more

My husband and I had our wedding on September 20th at Kotecki's. From the very beginning, John and Kate continued to prove to us that we made the right decision booking our reception there. We had 150 guests in the Cecilia room with cocktail hour outside on the beautiful outdoor patio space. Cocktail hour was efficiently run with plenty of food and the bartenders kept the lines short. Our dinner was AMAZING! Filet mignon with chicken marsala, red roasted mashed potatoes and green beans. We had guests telling us how amazing the food was that night and STILL TO THIS DAY! We used Dj Jammin James and that was easily one of the best decisions we made also. He provided us with a list of songs he likes to play and allowed us to add and subtract whatever we wanted. He responded to every email, no matter what time of day. Overall, my husband and I can not say enough good things about Kotecki's!! My son married the love of his life Saturday at Kotecki's it was perfect! The ceremony was in the outside gazebo. Being the time of year the flowers they had were sparse and the gazebo was looking old, could use some updating maybe paint it white. There was a misunderstanding about who decorates it, so the day before we were running around looking for flowers, banners and stuff. It came out beautiful! The center entrance with the " gone with the wind" grand stairway was beautiful and would have been a great fallback if the weather was bad. The reception hall was beautiful, the DJ was good played a good mix and was very receptive to requests. The food was to die for! The filet minion was perfect, melt in your mouth, cut with a fork! The chicken cordon blue was very flavorful and the mashed potatoes were Real and buttery. I cant judge the appetizers because i was too busy to get any but the word was they were good. My husband and I attended a wedding here on July 19,2019. This was the first time we were at this venue. The place is very grand and decor and grounds were very well kept. There was a beautiful cheese platter table and the stuffed mushrooms and Bruschetta hors d'oeuvres were absolutely to die for. The night seemed to be going well.. that is until the food was served. They started off with the basket of rolls which more than half of them were squashed. They looked very cheap and definitely not anything homemade. You could tell they just open bags of rolls and threw them in a basket. My husband and I decided to pass on them. Next came out our chef salad. Our lettuce looked wilted and my husband joked he could count the number of lettuce leaves they put on the plates. It almost looked as if they were purposely place that way to make the salad look big when in fact there was hardly anything on the plate. Knowing the main meal was coming next, we had wishful thinking it would make up for the lousy rolls and salad. Again we were shocked and disappointed by what was brought out. We had 10 adults at the table and food was being served family style. They handed us a plate of asparagus which each adult was only allowed to take two sprigs before running out not making it all the way around the table. Next they brought out chicken. There was a combination of thighs, drums, and wings. The pieces varied in size most of them were very small. And again there was not enough on the platter for everyone at the table to have a piece. We asked for more but server said they were all out. They continued to bring out slices of beef, mashed potatoes and pasta with sauce. All in very small amounts. When all food was brought out everyone looked down at the plates in shock and joked hoping there was a fast food place close by since this clearly was not a meal to fill any of us up. The beef and mashed potatoes were good but the pasta was nothing to rave about. Tasted like over cooked noodles with a cheap jar of store bought sauce the poured on. The chicken was the worse. I took one bit and ask my husband if his tasted OK. I told him mine tasted like old rotten chicken. I thought maybe it was my taste buds and took another bite and said "no I'm not going to eat this I don't want to chance getting sick, something is wrong with this chicken". My husband said his was totally dried out. He took the left over ranch salad dressing and poured it over it to help moisten it but he said his chicken just absorbed it all it was so dry. We were so disappointed and embarrassed for the bride and groom and families knowing a lot of money was paid out and such bad quality of food had been served. I know with any venue you have to confirm counts several weeks before the event so why they ran out of food I don't understand. As the night went on the food became topic of discussion as to how bad the quality and how little there was. Everyone was waiting for cake which no one at our table received. It seemed like everyone we talked to did not receive cake either. We looked for a dessert table and nothing was found. A wedding is one of the most memorable days in your life. A couple takes months going from venue to venue to find the right one. They put trust in that venue that they will deliver on what is being asked of them. I truly hope the family gets money back for the poor quality and lack of food that was served. We NEVER expected to receive the food we did that night from a place like this. It just goes to show you that looks could be deceiving and to make sure your venue / cater gives you an exact plate of food everyone will be receiving before you agree to have your wedding at a place. I have attended several weddings and events at Koteckis. Each time I have been there, the staff has provided nothing less than A+ service. Everything from the beautifully maintained grounds, to the gourmet food, to the incredible party atmosphere their house DJ keeps all night long, Koteckis in my opinion is one of the best wedding venues in the WNY area. We had our wedding at this absolutely stunning venue on Saturday October 30th. John and Kate went above and beyond for us. Kate and John were there for me and my fiancé the whole way. They have great advice and literally can give you help in any area of the wedding planning process. They treated us like family. The venue is gorgeous! The pictures don't do it justice. The staff was on top of everything and very friendly. I definitely recommend the house DJ James! He gets everyone on the dance floor. The food was impeccable! Your guests don't have to choose a meat they get both. I am very picky on how my meat is cooked and it was perfect. My guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about the food, service and venue. John and Kate made our wedding day absolutely amazing! I have the pleasure of photographing weddings from time to time, so I've visited a lot of the local event venues. I'm happy to say that Kotecki's was really a pleasant one to visit and work at. Set far, far back from the busy street, it offers a quiet, country feel that's not too far from the city. From the moment I arrived with the bride, the venue's staff was ready to assist and kept us informed about all the deliveries, setup progress, and other pertinent details. Ample parking and an easy-to-navigate layout made the whole day easy for everyone involved. I was also surprised at how good the food was--and how perfect the service was during dinner. There were options for everyone (from carnivore to vegetarian) and the family-style dishes were all hot and delicious. That's no small feat when serving a crowd of 150 guests! I'm going to try not to drag this review on, but I could say so many positive things about Kotecki's. My husband and I first met with John when we were trying to find a venue. We looked at 4 different venues, and nobody made us feel as welcomed as John. He made us feel comfortable, as soon as we walked to our car, we knew we wanted to get married at Kotecki's. We had both our ceremony and reception there. We knew we picked the right place every time we had to stop in. John and Kate always made us feel like family and we never felt rushed, even though we were usually there for an hour chatting and asking questions when we only stopped to drop off a check. They were so helpful with all of our questions. I always had a ton of questions when I stopped in and emailed John numerous times, and they never made me feel like I was bothering them or wasting their time. Our wedding day was perfect even though everything didn't go as planned. My cheesecake didn't set completely and the middle fell in prior to the reception. Kate made sure it got fixed. Luckily, the owner of the bakery came in to fix it, but Kate said if that wasn't possible, she would have went out and got us a new one. She said she would NOT let us have a cheesecake malfunction for our wedding day! I think that says a lot about the Kotecki family. They aren't just there as a place for you to have your wedding at. They make sure your wedding day is your dream wedding and go above and beyond to make it happen. The reception and ceremony decor were beautiful. They had centerpieces and decor that you could rent, which was huge for us because we didn't want to have to bring all of that stuff to set up and then clean it up after the wedding. My husband and I were doing a "unity drink" and brought 2 small glasses to use for it. John had them re-washed after we brought them because he wanted to make sure they were extra clean in case the photographer took any pictures of them. Now THAT says something about the type of people who work there. The food was fantastic-- we did family style and did not hear one complaint. The crab cakes and steak rouladen were a huge hit. So many of our family and friends raved about the steak rouladen. The bartenders and wait staff were WONDERFUL. We had guests who told us how impressed they were with the service. We attended a wedding this past weekend for a nice young couple along with their proud families. at Kotecki's Grandview Grove. I wasn't going to comment on the terrible service and rudeness by the banquet manager. But after reading all the reviews on social media and reading Kotecki's responses to those reviews--making excuses and refusing to take ownership and living up to their shortcomings-- I decided to give a review. In spite of the way Kotecki's handled everything it was a wonderful day and a beautiful wedding. I am not going to comment on hearsay. I am going to comment on what I saw with my own two eyes. They were NOT ready for this reception. There were NO plates or napkins and few forks at the hors d'oeuvre table until people complained that they had to use their hands. Contrary to what Kotecki's said, there was NOT enough food at my table for everyone sitting there, and we were one person short. When asked for more beef, a small plate with a few pieces arrived some time later, along with 4 spears of asparagus. The banquet manager did more complaining than a little kid who couldn't go to Dairy Queen! Wow! Anyone who had a good experience there count your blessings. After attending multiple weddings throughout the years, the only problem I have is we didn't have our wedding here. Beautiful grounds, clean updated facility and amazing food. My husband on multiple occasions commented on how great the mushrooms were. Staff has always been friendly, upbeat and very professional. Not only do they have a beautiful outdoor ceremony area, but they have a gorgeous indoor area incase of rain. We started planning our wedding almost 2 years ago. From start to finish everything was perfect. John spent two hours with us at our first meeting making sure all of our questions were answered explaining absolutely everything to us! He even made sure he has additional staff on hand if our meeting ran over which it did. But he was prepared. Everything in between our first meeting to our last in which we talked over all the game plan for that day was wonderful. Kate was there to guide me and answer my questions and also calm me down when I was panicking about being a bride! John and Kate were amazing. They communicated effectively and timely throughout the entire process. Day of, everything was BEAUTIFUL and they went above and beyond adding fine little details to make sure our day was magical. The food, wow... it was phenomenal. Our appetizers were great. My favorites were the crab cakes and bacon wrapped scallops. DELISH. We had dual plated chicken and filet, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was mouth watering good and cooked to perfection. Words cannot describe how amazing Koteckis was and I will recommend them over and over again. The first time I came to Kotecki's, it was a couple years ago for my Aunt and Uncle's 25th wedding anniversary. They decided to do an out door style venue, so they had the event underneath the giant tent, with an out door bar. The set up was really nice and elegant. Not to mention that Kotecki's has a TON of land. It was nice, after eating (pretty good lunch food), to walking down the steps and around the grounds and work off some of the food. Another nice thing was the GIANT parking lot that they have there. Now fast forward a couple of years and I just got engaged to a wonderful young woman. We spent a lot of time looking at other venues, from down town to on the water. But nothing had the "wow" factor. Then our friends and family mentioned Kotecki's, which we thought, "why not look right?". So we called them up, and I spoke to John, he was nice, friendly, and was more than accommodating for us to come see the place. As soon as we walked in the front door, my fiancee's jaw dropped. The stair case in the front was really beautiful. We then met Kate Kotecki who runs this establishment, and she was equally as nice and came right out to greet us. They then took us to the room that we wanted to look at and WOW, it was beautiful, the whole room was beautifully remodeled. Not to mention that the dance floor is basically on/ near the dance floor. That will make things much easier. We actually liked it so much we put our deposit down immediately. We have our friends wedding coming up next year, and I am excited.
