    90pcs assorted platter
    Melissa L.

After our pleasant visit last time on the chirashi don, we decided to give their party trays a try, so we ordered the 90pcs assorted try and changed our salmon sashimi to salmon belly for an additional price of $8. When we got home, we found out that the portions were significantly smaller (as seen in the picture) than the sushi trays we ordered from elsewhere in the past. Yes, there weren't many shaved daikon as fillers but the sizes of each roll were bite size with a mediocre combination of ingredients. The rice and ingredients ratio was well balanced but it may be the sizing issue reflecting the stingy look. Sashimi quality was so-so, nothing too significant that needed to be mentioned except it's just regular sashimi quality. Overall I will not be back. Given the price we paid with the additional "upgrade" to salmon belly (total was about $115+), it's not worth the price for the product you received. It wouldn't be so much of an issue if the vendor use the "correct" platter tray to hold the sushi and make it more filling, making it seem like your platter has more... it's all about the visual.

KOU SUSHI . . We came on a Sunday for lunch and dined in. There's only a few tables as they're mostly a takeout restaurant. The tea was self serve and paper plates, wooden chopsticks and soy sauce were provided. . Sashimi Sushi Roll Platter (40pc) 4/5 The sashimi were my favourite. Salmon was super creamy and the other pieces were all fresh as well. Sushi and rolls were yummy too. I quite like their rice here. Would definitely return!

A new sushi spot located in Times Square. I ordered the maki roll tray (48 pieces) through their online site. This process went smoothly as I was able to specify a pickup time a few hours later. When I arrived to the shop, the order was ready to go. I was grabbing the tray for takeout, but there are a few tables available for dine in. I paid for my order in store and was on my way. There seems to be a decent variety of maki rolls, however they are on the small side in terms of both fillings and rice. In addition, the rice was slightly overcooked, resulting in the rolls having a mushy texture. The fish was pretty fresh at the very least. Given the other sushi spot in this plaza that has a similar offering, I think I might have to look elsewhere for the time being. Note: 10% cash discount

Soft opening 20% off cash only. There are a few tables available for dine in but I opted for take out. I brought a 90pcs party tray that came in two trays. One containing sashimi & sushi and the maki on another tray. The quality of the fish are better than most at a similar price point. I love how the slices of octopus were nested between lemon slices. The pieces of maki however were on the smaller side. Unfortunately a major downfall is that they use the wrong soy sauce. It was extremely salty and should be used for cooking instead... My dad said the soy sauce would definitely be the reason why people won't return. Soy sauce paired with sushi is suppose to be light and bring out the fresh taste of the fish.

Over the weekend, I checked out this new sushi place at Times Square in Richmond Hill called Kou Sushi. There are not many dine-in sushi places in this area so it was great to see that they had a small seating area. You can order through their website or at the counter. I ordered the Sushi Sashimi Maki Tray A which contains 40 pieces, Kou Maki, and Black Dragon Maki. The fish was very fresh and the fish slices were cut a decent size. My favourite was the Kou Maki as I loved the torched salmon on top and spicy scallop inside the roll. Being right at Times Square, there is plenty of parking and you can still find parking easily during peak times. Overall, I would definitely come back again to check out the other items such as the Chirashi Don!

Paper cups for tea at a Japanese restaurant... LoL
    B H.

Dine-in Japanese restaurant that serves their tea in paper cups, that should set your expectations. Overall all is a 3 star experience in every way. If you want to mainly provide take out service, maybe try changing the dining tables to bar seats. You still have some dine customers especially for lunch hour.... We ordered a 40pcs platter for just the 2 of us, but it's not enough so we need to order an extra chirashi don. The quality of the food is not that fresh, it's not bad to the point of being not safe for consumption but it feels very low quality. For the price they charge, please give us something better. There are lots of Japanese restaurants nearby, if they want to have a successful business, they need to do better. I personally will not come back again.

Overall an average sushi spot. I wasn't disappointed but not especially impressed either. I did enjoy the maki and found the sashimi cut at a good thickness. I would recommend it for those in the area looking for a quick dine in sushi fix as most sushi restaurants in this area are takenl out only. They also have a unique self serve tea corner, offering different tea bag flavours for you to choose from to make your own cup. We did find it a little strange how everything was served with disposable utensils, bowls/plates, cups, etc considering the price we paid and asking for a dine in experience. In terms of service, other than taking your order, this dine in experience was designed to be a self serve style.

Got some sashimi take out. Salmon and salmon belly was good. Pretty fresh. Tori was great but the only thing was when I brought it home it was still partially frozen. Have to thaw for another 2 hrs and use a paper towel to absorb the excess moisture. Didn't expect I need to do that.

    90pcs $95
    Amanda L.

Tried out this new sushi place at metro square. I was excited to see a new place as I normally get my sushi from Hug. At first glance I could tell the pricing was higher than your average sushi place. We ordered the 90pcs tray for $95 and a few other rolls on the side. When I looked at the product I could tell it wasn't going to be enough food for our party. The rolls were small and very stingy looking. It looked like sushi you get from AYCE places when they are trying to put as less filling and rice as much as possible. The sashimi and rolls were fresh but too small and thinly sliced for it to be 'worth the price'. Most places fill their rolls with salmon or crab, this restaurant fills it with "cheaper fillings". For example the inside of a green dragon roll is just the tempura shrimp. Overall I don't think I will be returning as the value for money for the product you get is underwhelming.

Great portions! The below lasted me 3 meals though I could have stretched it to 4 - by adding vegetables to go with my unagi don lol ! There was definitely plenty of rice to go around. The mango roll was complimentary on uber eats if you ordered $40 in total. Everything tasted pretty fresh to me, give it a try if you're in the mood to try something other than your usual spot!

New sushi spot that just opened up in Richmond Hill, their menu carries quite a large array of different types of sushi and platters. Their fish was very fresh and everything tasted premium, I absolutely loved the different types of rolls that they carried. Will definitely come back again! Highly recco!

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

That's because every other guest was a well-known "regular" -- a very good sign. We were ushered through the tranquil restaurant and seated at the sushi bar, a zen ambience. We chose the $55 sushi+sashimi omakase lunch course, and it didn't disappoint. The eight pieces of nigiri featured a somewhat typical selection of fish (and hotate/scallop), but slightly edgy and unique in the choice of seasoning and flavours, prepared by Chef Takinami with all the pomp and ceremony and you would expect from fine omakase. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed from piece to piece; the wait staff were attentive as would be expected from a high-end Japanese restaurant, on par with omakases that cost three times as much. Overall, incredible value on the meal, for both the food and experience. We couldn't help but look around at what the regulars were enjoying (in addition to their omakase nigiri) -- botan ebi nigiri with deep fried shrimp heads, chawanmushi, cooked dishes featuring monk fish livers, tempura appetizers and more... some great ideas for our next visit!

Ordered tempura vegetables and shrimp with 6 pieces total was only around $9. This tempura tasted truly delicious compared to other pricier restaurants! The whole staff greeted us the moment we came in with smile and felt their kindness/patience while we were looking through the menu. They were very accommodating with changing spicy salmon roll to dynamite roll in the dinner sushi sets for me since I don't eat spicy food. Other restaurants would always charge extra regardless if the price was the same or cheaper. The rice ratio for the rolls was PERFECT! Definitely the best one I've seen by far. I would love to try their signature rolls next time to see if they're the same. I would come here again for lunch and check them out. -1 star because: The sushi to rice ratio is a little too much so I had to take some off unfortunately. Also the salad that comes with the sets was bland, lettuce and 3 strings of beets.

The rolls were not just basic rolls, they were packed with flavour, texture (tempura bits) and had an excellent rice-meat ratio. The salmon terriyaki portion was amazing.
