I needed them to Cerakote the slide, cut a notch in my grip module for the safety fit, add a trigger, and switch the mag release from the left side to the right. The communication was awful--multiple times I was told different pick-up dates, and they kept pushing it back without any clear updates. On top of that, they lied about the status of my firearm. They told me it was basically done, just needed to be put back together. But when I came in, they were still working on cutting the grip--so it actually wasn't close to being done at all. The lack of transparency was really upsetting. However, I will say, the only reason I'm not giving this a one-star review is that the gun actually came out really well--the Cerakote was nice, and the cutting done to my grip was done very well.

However, my most recent visit has been frustrating. I dropped off a handgun at the end of November for three services and was quoted 6-8 weeks max. I had planned to attend a training in late February, so based on that timeline I expected to have my handgun back by the end of January. We are now approaching 15 weeks, and my firearm is still not ready. Can't even reschedule my class as the staff has been unable to give me a date each time I've called. I didn't want to leave a negative review because my previous experiences here have been great, but this delay is honestly unreasonable. If I would have known the turn around time I would have skipped on services. A friend of mine dropped off his handgun at a different shop for the same services and had it back within a month. I am paying full price for 2 of the 3 services so I might as well have just taken it to the other shop.. I would still consider purchasing items from this store, but unfortunately I will most likely not be returning here for gunsmithing services.

So the new thing with firearms is custom finishing. Of course you have steel, stainless, aluminum, all sorts of plastic composites, etc., etc., which means that you're pretty hard pressed to find some way to color all of the firearm components equally and consistently. Enter the amazing Cerakote process. This is an ultra thin but also ultra durable ceramic based finish that is baked on, similar to powder coating. I've had a number of items refinished with this process, and I have to say that it is quite amazing. I certainly won't go for some of the crazy colors that they have available (i.e. pink, purple, Tiffany Blue, etc.), but rest assured that pretty much any color under the sun can be had for your little pets. The Cerakote process isn't limited to firearms either. It's just as well suited for any hardware that sees extreme weather or usage, and finishes well on metals and many plastics and composites. Applications are limited only by your imagination! Bring your parts already disassembled, or have Richard do it for you for a small fee, it's up to you. Of course you have OC Armory next door too, so you have the best of both worlds here! Purchase some eclectic hardware and have it customized, all in one stop! Oh yeah, 2A is also an 07 FFL so they can do any transfers or registrations that you may need as well, including out of state or custom stuff. Hours are by appointment only, enter from the entrance in the back!

Like it was on too thick or something......so I had Richard do it like a Sig Sauer Scorpion. Desert tan and black accents. It turned out GREAT. Looks beautiful.....and the work appears to be perfect.
