It's a small "hole in the wall" place with an "A" health dept rating. It is a locals place and everyone in the area know where it is! I eat here about twice a month if not more. My favorite dishes here are: Hot and sour soup, Sweet Crispy Shrimp , Combination Wonton Soup, Egg Drop Soup, Shrimp Fried Rice, Vegetable Egg Foo Young. Sometimes I'll get Shrimp Chop Suey and Country Fried Tofu; they are good at accomodating no starch or light sauces and omitting meat if you like. They have really good lunch special deals that come with rice (I prefer their steamed rice to their fried rice; but I eat either), and an eggroll until 3 p.m. Sometimes I've gone after and they've allowed me the special or to order a half order of the dinner entree. I usually will get take out, and when I do I have them give me some of their home made hot mustard because the little "ketchup" packet kind isn't any good at all. The food is plenty. If you get a full order dinner entree it is enough for three people or two big eaters. Plenty of food at a very reasonable price. It's sometimes a little messy, or too busy. To avoid a crowd avoid lunch time on weekdays and family time on the weekend. If you want take out make sure you call it in because it's such a small place barely any room to be waiting around. This is a little hole in the wall casual place next to a bar in North Indio. No soda fountain, they'll serve you a can or Soda bottle with a tumbler of ice. Beer available by the bottle with a frosty glass to pour it in. Their ice tea is okay, a bit of honey flavor to it, passable if your thirsty; I like their hot tea. read more

A lot of people told me that this was the best spot in the Coachella Valley. After reading the reviews, basically everyone said the place is filthy, but the food makes it all worth it. I went there for the first time with my sister and it was just as described, FILTHY. It looks like they serve dog there, but still wanting to give it a chance, we sat down and ordered the orange chicken and rice. As soon as the waiter left our table, a cockroach ran across our table. From that point on, seeing that, I lost my appetite and no desire to eat their food. Yet, we stayed anyway and ate away as soon as the food got there. It was disgusting, every time I took a bite, I could not help to think what was in my food after seeing that roach. Our plates looked like they been used for a long time and somewhat dirty. Our waiter was wearing sandals to top it off and working in the kitchen which also grossed me out. I had to go outside because I just felt sick to my stomach about the food. I had seen enough! This place is a dump! Anyone that has ever had to take the test to get a food handlers card would be amazed that this place is allowed to serve food! As you walk the hallway to the bathroom you can see sacks of onions and boxes of veggies laying on the floor against the wall. Keep in mind this hallway is only about 3-4 feet wide so you have to walk sideways to make sure you don't step on the food you are about to eat. The bathrooms is disgusting, dirty, and smelly. Just outside the bathroom door is a metal, security door to the trash bin that is 5-10 feet away, outside. Keep in mind that this metal security door has about a 2 inch gap at the bottom that will accommodate any creature, pest, and vermin looking for food that is a bit more fresh than what is in the trash bin outside, nice! And just off to the side of the bathroom door is another small storage area holding cases of soft drinks, cleaning supplies and more sack of onions, boxes of carrots, peppers, pineapples, etc etc.. Wait, im not done...as you walk back to the dinning room you can freely glance into the kitchen and see bins of pork, chicken, and beef in their respective sauces....sitting directly on the floor waiting for orders to come in (instead of being in a fridge or cooling bin to maintain temperature). If they need the chicken that is on the bottom they simply shuffle the bins around, putting the bin that was sitting on the bare floor now on top, with no lids! The kitchen is absolutely thrashed, with tempura running down the sides of fryers, food bins everywhere, raw and cooked food that falls/spills on the floor. Now the dining room....we noticed more than one roach on the walls, counters, and floor......and what made us finally get up and leave before our order arrived was finding a roach IN OUR ICE TEA!! This place was packed with people, roaches, and more health code violations than you could imagine. Absolutely disgusting!! I know eating out has its risks, I have worked at fast food and fine dining restaurants and I have never seen something as disgusting as Kowloon. Yes, the prices are cheap, the plates are big, but the risk of illness, lack of cleanliness, and complete disregard for handling food was more than enough to make us leave and NEVER go back. read more
