Was recommended the lemonade which was so delicious (pretty sweet) and then had the mamas combo and also the duck pierogies. Incredible meal and quality just like the downtown location. The restaurant had fans on but it was quite hot in there, and there is no outdoor seating. We ate inside and the service was amazing they brought us ice water and cleaned up the dishes after us. Kozak is in langley and it is doing well. Cute little place, the smells and baked goods on display give you that warm feeling, I love the smell of bread! The little tables in front are cute but maybe a little small for their presentation of food when you order their special lunch combo. The food is good, the presentation and plating very pleasing to the eye. There are many customers coming in for their baked goods and ready made menus, it's a bustling place. The prices are good but watch for the recommended tips that starts at 18%. It a little steep for a little Restaurant. Additionally, they own several bakery locations across the Lower Mainland, one of which I'm very familiar with and visit often. Their bakery participated in the Vancouver Croissant Crawl, offering a limited special item. Ube & Passion Fruit Cube Croissant A fusion of Asian and tropical flavours, blending the nutty richness of Ube (Purple Yam) with the vibrant citrusy notes of passionfruit Their cube croissant is very famous, and they offer various flavors. This special item featured ube and passion fruit. The cube croissant is quite large and had plenty of ube cream filling. The croissant dough was crispy on the outside, making it simply delicious when paired with the ube cream filling. It was an absolute treat! I love coming here when I'm in the area, even if it's just for a pastry (the selection is fantastic and fresh) and a loaf of the delicious roasted garlic sourdough bread!!! They have an awesome selection of Ukrainian foods including pirogies and borscht and there are plenty of vegetarian options which is always a bonus. The indoor seating area is small but there are a couple additional tables outside. It always smells delicious inside so I'd opt for that. Such a welcoming place! The staff are so friendly. Baked goods are fresh and tasty. I had the borsch and it was delicious. Sour cream, salt, and garlic are served on the side. They didn't have bread ready but she brought it out fresh when it was done. Both baked goods I tried were good - the cheddar cheese and green onion bun, and the pistachio roll. The real winner is their free Americano with the purchase of a baked good. Such a good deal. Their coffee was not bad either. Cozy inside seating with a handful of seats. There's 1 table outside with 2 seats, but otherwise not a ton of space to eat there. Plenty of parking nearby, either metered on the street or free on the side streets. I only tried their ube passion fruit cube crossaint and it was quite disappointing. I preordered and arrived exactly at pick up time. My croissant came from the fridge which was unusual. From the looks of other people's croissants, the inside is a thick cream with different jam or flavoring. Mine was a runny mess. You cut open the cube and it just all runs out. The most underrated bakery I visited @kozakukrainianfood for the first time over the weekend and was blown away by their pastry selection. Kozak is a well known chain of Ukrainian restaurants and cafes in Vancouver. The owners originally started the business by selling baked goods at farmers markets in 2012, and gradually grew into their first brick and mortar in 2015. Their location in New Westminster is a small, but mighty bakery and cafe. You'll be able to find a wide array of pastries and breads, in addition to a menu full of Kozak's signature Ukrainian dishes, as well as a selection of their pickled veggies and sauerkraut. This location is also offering a FREE AMERICANO with a purchase of any pastry over $3 daily before 11am. I honestly can't believe I hadn't tried out Kozak's pastries sooner, because everything was so dang good. All of their croissants had the perfect lamination, and the breads were also impressive. They have unique pastries like their Ukrainian inspired croissant cube which is filled with a lemon curd and topped with blue cream and blueberries; taking inspiration from the Ukrainian flag. As well as more traditional treats like their amazing Dark Chocolate Babka, and Fresh Fruit Danish. Upon looking up interesting and delicious food in the New Westminster area, Kozak Ukranian Eatery popped up as an interesting option to try! I personally haven't been to a Ukranian bakery/restaurant before, and was interested in trying this cuisine so we decided to swing by on a Sunday around noon and had no wait time to order our food. The eatery itself is more of a bakery style, with loads of delicious pastries laid out for purchase - There were so many scrumptious looking options to try! In addition to all the pastries, there was a menu over the top of the baked goods with popular delicious Ukrainian dishes from latkes to borsch and many more! We ordered a good amount of things to try, which I'll review down below: Holubtsi - Cabbage Rolls ($13): These are some delicious cabbage rolls - both the lettuce wrapping and the meat and mushroom filling was tender and combined with the tomato and sour cream sauce, it does make for a tasty dish. It feels like you do only get 3 cabbage rolls per order, which isn't super filling, but will get your taste buds rolling. Deruny - Latkes ($16): Yum - these are some scrumptious potato pancakes! The crust is crispy, light, and not too oily. These pancakes are topped with choice of bacon or mushrooms, or both and served with a small dish of sour cream on the side. I liked that there is onion scattered throughout the dish, both in the pancakes and as a garnish - this gives this dish a nice fragrant flavor profile. The sour cream also provides a layer of richness that is pleasing. Babka ($5): Oh man, I haven't had a babka before and this is a delicious pastry! There are good amount of layers as you can see in the picture, and every layer is coated with a deep dark chocolate flavor. The pastry itself feels like it is coated in a thin harden glaze, which is absolutely scrumptious - as you start to bite you the pastry starts hard and gets soft, which is a great texture. I would get this pastry again! Overall, I would say that Kozak is a solid place to visit if you in the mood for some delicious pastries and wanted to try or even revisit dishes from Ukraine. There were so many pastry options in the display that I would definitely like to come back and try the many other delicious options that Kozak has to offer! (4.5 stars) read more

I tried the Mama combo, which includes 3 pierogies, cabbage roll, and Kovbasa and the Hungry Tato Combo , which includes Borsch, 2 varenyky, 1 cabbage roll, and 1 nalysnky. Overall these are nice combos to try that comes with bit a of everything. At first I thought the food was a bit bland when you taste each food individually, but once you try out the other dishes one by one it all starts meshing together quite nicely. I didn't expect the Hungry Tato's Lunch Combo to be so filling but I couldn't finish it. Ordered take out and everything was packaged beautifully with paper products and eco friendly containers to prevent as much waste as possible. The lunch combo has 2 cabbage rolls, 2 perogies, meat crepe (veggie option available), bread and meat Borsht soup (non meat available). The soup was my favorite followed by the perogies. Cabbage rolls were definitely up there and then followed by the crepe, which I didn't care for, but that's my own preference. I just wanted to be able to sample as much as I can . The owner seems very pleasant and cares about their business. I hope they stick around as long as possible. read more

Second of all the dumplings are delicious either fried or boiled. Then third of all their pastries look really amazing, we tried the poppyseed bun and were really happy with the choice. Ordered $250 worth of their Perogies. Perogies were good. I little different than expected. Assuming deep fried over boiled and pan fried. .90 a perogie which i thought was a tad pricey but what isnt these days. Word of caution when ordering sides. We were charged $60 .. yes $60 for what amounted to 2 cups of bacon bits. Also, they tacked on a $20 tip for themselves to thank us for our nice order which we picked up. I was in the area and looking for a hearty lunch and found it here! I enjoyed the vegan borscht and they have meat option as well (I passed on the sour cream). The soup comes with a huge chunk of bread (I chose the Ukrainian rye). My lunch was tasty and filling and I even I picked up a 2L bucket of borscht to take home for dinner for tomorrow night. And... I got a free 1/4 bread with my Yelp check in.... awesome! They also have other hot vegetarian and meat lunch options here. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area to try their sourdough, perogies and cabbage rolls. I also bought some Piroshki and cinnamon twists as treats for my office, they were well received. Seating is very limited (5-7 spots) and was full when I visited but I was able to stand at the bar area and eat which worked for me. Last but not least - staff are such a nice group of young ladies; very efficient, helpful, sweet and kind. A bit on the pricier side but really good. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, and they work well with each other too. Great vibe, no toxicity. A very steady flow of customers and small dine-in space so get lucky or do takeouts! They have bread, pastries (sweet or savoury), crepes (sweet or savoury), hot meals, to go meals, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and homemade sauerkraut and other items. Lots of options that's for sure! I'm a huge fan of cabbage rolls and can easily finish 15 by myself but their cabbage rolls don't have that comfort feeling. It tastes good, but that's it. I don't taste the rich flavour and loveliness (if you know, you know). Overall, their other meals are amazing but cabbage rolls fall short. Their sauerkraut is a bit different from German sauerkraut which I prefer. They do have great sauerkraut, just a matter of preference and I prefer mine a tad be more sour and no pepper. The best and MUST TRY is the chicken & mushroom rolled crepes (Baba's Anya's Nalysnyky. Soup was lovely especially with the sour cream, blends so well with the beets in the soup. The radish sauce they give goes perfectly with the housemade dumplings (and I'm not a fan of radishes so that tells you a lot). Definitely recommend and will be going back soon! I've been buying sourdough bread here for quite a few years now... it's the real deal... they naturally ferment the dough with no yeast or sugar! I've been wanting to order from this bakery/deli for sometime now. I had a hankering for a chocolate babka and I think this is the only place in the Lower Mainland that sells it. Kozak has a wonderful website to order all their wonderful prepared foods, baked goods and pantry items. It has plenty of high res pictures and some have descriptions of the ingredients. Of course, I ordered the dark chocolate babka and I also had to order a couple of different types of challah bread (egg bread), all-beef sausage in a blanket, cheese and green onion rolls and, I had to try a slice of the Medovyk Honey Cake (a traditional Ukrainian cake.) The babka was the real deal! It was full of luscious chocolate and the braided bread was sweet, and ever so soft. It was a wonderful treat on a cold Sunday with a cup of black coffee to cut through the richness of the babka. The sausage in a blanket was also a great treat. I should ask them where they got their sausage because it was stellar! The cheese and onion rolls were a good accompaniment to home-made soup or just eaten on its own. I also loved the wonderful Medovyk cake. When I opened the container, I had a whiff of slightly burnt crumbs, not offensive but surprising. It was a multi-layered cake like a millefeuille with a cream filling and the cake crumbs on top. It wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be but it was very rich and satisfying. I was obsessed with that burnt honey and cake smell! I also got a bonus of the wafer tort. It was a crunchy with what seems like a burnt butter and honey cream in between the wafers...yum and thank you! A lovely new place that just opened up. Great for a quick Saturday or Sunday lunch. Very homey feels and the baked goods are such a pleasure to be greeted by when you enter. The cabbage rolls were absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, we ordered the pierogies as well which took about 45 minutes to arrive- I think because they were homemade. Other customers received their order but perhaps because ours was the pork and onion option, it didn't quite arrive. We checked in with the servers quite a bit but it seemed like there was a lot of confusion about whose order belonged to whom. Perhaps a system where customers are given order numbers would be beneficial. It would also be ideal to have a water station where customers can get their own water and not have to ask the staff each time. As for the seating, the place has two long tables and a little section by the window. It might not be ideal for big groups, but for two or a small family, it's pretty cozy. I would come back again but maybe be wary about ordering the pierogies if I'm in a time crunch. read more

Absolutely amazing! Never had Ukrainian food before and my boyfriend and I were eager to try things out. We ordered the "Hungry Tato Lunch Combo" and got everything made vegan - it meant they took out the crepe and gave us extra pierogi and cabbage rolls. The food was phenomenal. The vegan borscht was loaded with veggies and beans, and came with a thick slice of sourdough bread. It was hearty, yet refreshing, and tasted soooo healthy. The bread blew me away. I really like that Kozak is unique and cozy. I am in love with the vegan Brosch and baked goods. All I've tasted were excellent when heated up. I also like that they come in massive pieces. Super good deal. One star less cuz I asked the front lady if their hot chocolate is good, and she said that it's actually very very dark chocolate, which is something I'm not interested in. I'm much more into sweet milk chocolate taste so I'm glad I asked about it before ordering. She said that she likes the Ukrainian latte so I ordered it to try. It's latte with condensed milk and baked milk (cooked milk all day) so I thought that it'd be creamy and sweet with some coffee bitterness but it was just diluted condensed milk with creamy milk and coffee...
