What an amazing discovery for me while biking to ubc... A small indie cafe which offers an array of different standard pastries, but the surprise was...some mexican baked goods too. They also have fresh juices by the cup or liter and other bfast items like yogurt etc. But what immediately caught my eye was a big clam shaped designed bread with a mexican name. I immediately inquired about it and was told ( by a mexican) server, that it was a tyoe of mexican bread with cinnamon and chocolate flavour. I mean, cant go wrong with that, right. The other stuff were crossaints, cookies, scones, which were typical of other bakeries...since this one stood out. I had to try it. Lol. It was very good. Soft and moist, with the outside crust giving you a little bit of crunchy texture. Like a lightly toasted surface. The flavours were all there, not to overpowering, but just right. Service was quick and friendly. I had a few questions about other things, and they gladly obliged. I also ordered the drip coffee too. Very strong and robust. Perfect for me...and the portion size very generous. When I go biking up there again, i will stop by for sure to sample the other offerings. They have outdoor seating which was perfect. Self service condiment and water station was also available. Very popular among the locals as you will see lots of customers lining up and getting their morning pastry fix. Cheers! Happy eating!

Just go! You'll love it ;) I had a London Fog and Muffin it was delightful! I also grabbed a baguette for home.

The apple pie to go.

Cute little bakery/cafe in Wesbrook Village, it would be difficult to stumble upon this place due to location and unless you live nearby or happen to be in the area. I was just leaving the BC liquor store across the street and happened to see this bakery and thought I would go by to check out. Due to covid precautions - there is a limit of 2 patrons in the restaurant so if you come during busier times there will definitely be a line up. When I arrived there were 2 people ordering their coffees so I had to wait for 5-10 minutes before entering as well. The price point is definitely higher than bakeries like Cobbs and Terra Breads but the selection is quite different. They also have a frozen section with pre-made pies and meals that you can heat up at home as well. I left with a small apple pie, and some peanut butter dog biscuits. The total came to $25 (like I said, higher price point for sure!). My dog loved the biscuits, and the apple pie was decent as well. I like that the apple pie is not super sweet like the grocery bakery variety, but with a slight tart note with lots of cinnamon. The pie crust is amazing, however could use a little more gooey goodness with the filling because it was a little dry. All in all, good place to stop by for a treat - the pictures of the sandwiches look amazing so will have to try that next. I love the neighborhood bakery feel of the place, and will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Midnight Express - A dark drinking chocolate infused with Turkish coffee. Accompanied by Origins Espresso Shortbread and whipped cream.

Came here on a whim for the Hot Chocolate Festival, and ended up with a table full of food. Just walking into this place makes your mouth water, and then as you near their display, your salivary glands go into hyperdrive. Sandwiches - gooooooood. Flatbreads - gooooooood. That bacon twist thing? OMG, SO GOOD. And the hot chocolate that we originally came for? Also good - not too sweet, yet still tasting rich and chocolatey. Bonus: they sell (kinda overpriced) jam, frozen meals, and the best damn orange blossom cream cheese spread you will have ever eaten in your life. THIS IS A MUST TRY ITEM - DO IT! YOU WILL THANK ME! Not a lot of seating available here, so it's hard if you're coming in a big group. Couple of tables outside available as well. Free street parking outside - woot!

Florentine Lasagna, Chocolate Raspberry Cake, Horchata

Very charming and cozy little eatery with a family kitchen theme. They serve comfort dishes in addition to cafe fare. The baked goods and desserts all looked very appetizing. I went for the Florentine Lasagna and a chocolate cake that I can't recall the full description of, but it had layers of chocolate and raspberry infused cake and whipped cream frosting, topped with a chocolate ganache. Very visually appealing. Also I grabbed a horchata from the refrigerator, was very excited to see that they had horchata. My lasagna was tasty and the layer of cheese on top gave it a nice crunch, although it definitely had a bit of that sogginess that you get with microwaved food. The lasagna came with a light salad and a slice of bread. The bread had a nice hearty and fresh feel. Horchata was also enjoyable, although I'm pretty easy to please with horchata - the taste of this one was a little different than what I expect, with undertones that reminded me of milk tea, but in this case the different was interesting! The cake was what stole the show for me. The combination of textures was very pleasing, between the moist cake, fluffy whipped layers, and fudgy ganache, it was a very satisfying treat! Compared to, say, a coffee shop, the food here is more expensive, but I do feel like I got what I paid for with basically a full meal, since the lasagna came with a salad and bread, and the cake was very good quality. The interior is decorated in keeping with the family kitchen theme. It's a little on the small side, at least for the business that they get, but very cozy. There's one large table which can seat multiple groups, a counter along the window, and a few single "desks" along the wall. There's also a few tables outside. Again, it does get busy, so it may be difficult to find a seat, especially if you're with a group. I believe laptops are okay at the large table but not at the counter, but I don't really feel that this is the sort of place for working, it's more geared towards catching up or reading, or just grabbing a bite.

this was bangin. salad smacked. nicest staff. really solid turkey pot pie. sandwiches were slaying. dough girls? more like slay girls !

Bread selection...

My favorite "go to" bakery. My personal favorite right now is cranberry orange scone. Sometimes for lunch I would get their kimchi burrito. When fall arrive and thanksgiving is around the corner, check out their pumpkin pie.

Turkey Pot Pie (recommend!)

Turkey pot pie was really good Buttery flaky crust with well seasoned filling (tastes like a creamy chowder with tender turkey pieces)

I'm astonished by the good reviews, because the food is mediocre at best. Maybe slightly better than your average grocery store bakery.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by staff and led to a table. The place smelled incredible and everyone around looked pleased with their dining experience. To begin, we took our servers recommendation and ordered the chickpea fritters. I don't know what I expected, but this surpassed my expectations. The fritters were warm, with a crunchy exterior but soft interior, and packed with flavour. The curry mayo accented their flavour and the plating was the icing on the cake. I absolutely recommend them! For the main, we decided to split an order of the miso roasted carrots, and I ordered the crispy pork belly. The carrots were cooked to perfection and reminded me of home cooked holiday meals. The crispy pork belly was siting in a tomato sauce that had the right mix of zest and warmth. The pork belly was melt in your mouth delicious! The only thing we did not particularly enjoy, was the dessert which was heavy in amaretto flavour. It was still an interesting dessert though and overall we very much enjoyed the meal. I will definitely be bringing other friends to this location and would consider it a must visit restaurant in Vancouver!

The staff are knowledgable and attentive, and the menu is loaded with captivating options. Highly recommend this Michelin bib gourmand restaurant. (Cucumber Melon Salad: A) - Marinated melon is such a smart way for flavor development. The usage of quinoa as a crunch rather than a grain also makes quinoa quite enjoyable in this case! I think the large slices of cucumber become water bombs rather than flavor bombs, which is unideal. (Patatas Bravas: B) - Intriguing dish of triple cooked crisp potatoes thats tender on the inside with a trio of aiolis. The dish would benefit from smaller potato wedges to absorb the flavor better, but otherwise the aiolis really helped give a depth of creamy, herbacious, and spicy flavor combo. (Duck Breast: A) - Tender duck breast paired with a beautiful red fruit jam that helped add an acidic sweetness. This protein was quite nailed, but a crispier skin would take it to the next level. I had the Kadhi Onion Pakora Chawal and it was so good. Nothing too fancy, but just excellent Indian comfort food. I'm not in a place to say whether Indian food is "authentic" or not, but this was not the relatively bland take on Indian food that you might expect from this unassuming brunch place, it was pleasantly rich. And the paratha was so soft and flaky! The portion was also very filling, so good value for your money. I like that the Indian section of the menu has so many (vegetarian) breakfast dishes that most Indian lunch/dinner restaurants don't serve. I'm kind of curious about the Western brunch menu too, but will definitely be back to try more of the Indian food if nothing else. I had a Piña Colada smoothie too. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really do anything for me. They called this a "fruit smoothie" but it was so sweet and tasted closer to a flavoured slush to me. I'd skip the smoothie next time since the main meal was enough. The atmosphere is totally bare-bones, it's not sketchy or anything, there's just absolutely no ambiance to speak of. The staff was nice enough though, especially the person taking orders at the front. It's not a hip brunch place at all, but a great place for some no-fuss good eats. Although I can't speak for the Western brunch stuff, I can definitely recommend you check them out for the Indian dishes if you live around UBC.

This was all $10 and for brunch it is an excellent price. The eggs are really fresh and cooked well (I like mine over easy), the bread is super crisp and buttered where you have the option of adding peanut butter or jam or both as you see fit. The sausages are butterflied such that they can grill the insides, and the hash browns are browned and crisp while soft on the inside. This is my go to hungover meal or meal when I feel like treating myself in the mornings. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for some homemade diner style food!
