One of the last and best Kozo Sushi locations on the island! My friend told me this is a sister store to the Koko Marina location that sadly shut down, and I'm so glad this one is still around. Update from a year ago, this is our place to go when we have a party to attend or large gathering. Their sushi platters are nicely presentable&variety is good on their types of sushi. Nothing fancy,just delicious!! Call in is the way to go, & they have you order ready to go for pickup! We frequent this store a lot and their service is always top notch, small or large orders . No seating is available inside for consuming your purchases just a small area while waiting for the order to be completed. Well made Maki sushi rolls, the bento boxes are great for a quick lunch at a very reasonable price. To Kozo Sushi Management, I'm writing as a long-time customer who has always enjoyed your food, but I had a disappointing experience during my visit today. I ordered the foto maki rolls I could see and was told by the tall local boy cashier it only needed to be cut and would be ready shortly. After paying and tipping, I waited nearly 30 minutes with no update. When I politely suggested providing more accurate wait time to the cashier, the local woman sushi maker spoke loudly and accused me of scolding the cashier, which I did not do. I was simply trying to offer a reasonable suggestion after waiting much longer than expected. I tried to explain but she got louder and said to order on line next time or take my money elsewhere. I understand that being short-staffed can be challenging, and I appreciate the work your team does. However, the way the situation was handled felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. Food quality has gone down over the years. Ambiance is quite literally falling apart. The sushi displays are old and faded. Additionally, the display case and counter area with waving cat decor are covered in heavy dust, debri.. very dirty. Furthermore, the woman that makes the food is quite rude to her staff. While waiting for our order she talked down to him, scolded him in front of a bunch of us crammed in the small area. It was such a turn off. Quality is better than your standard grocery store, and about the same/slightly less in pure fresh quality as a high cost sushi restaurant. Price range is very inexpensive--reasonable given the style of ordering and experience! As in, all orders are TO GO as this is not a restaurant/sit down shop. Not much has changed at Kozo Sushi Kaneohe and that's what I love about it. Been eating here since kid time. My go-to is the spicy ahi. In a hand roll or maki or gunkan or in a bowl. I like to add shrimp tempura or shoyu spam (or both) to my spicy ahi bowl. There's always a kid working their first job on the register so be patient or you'll stress out the old lady making the sushi. Let's go! Tip the kid, thank the lady and go straight across the shopping center (behind Foodland) to Kj's to grab some ono fried or furikaki chicken to enjoy with your spicy ahi. Been a customer there for at least 30 years. The ONE time i forgot to pick up my order i was treated badly. They wouldn't let me pay for it, nor pick it up the next day. I would have been ok with it if they kept it for me (not make a new one). It was a stressful day for me and i forgot to go. Realized it after they closed. Sad to say won't be going there anymore. This location is always consistent. The lady at the cash register is very polite and always makes sure that my order is correct. You can call to order ahead for pickup, but they are fast so you can just go there and order and it will be ready in 5-10min. Their fish is a decent quality for the price. I got the spicy ahi roll and the spicy ahi gunkan. It was my first time trying the roll as I normally just get the gunkan. It was the same thing, but the roll has sprouts inside it. It was okay, but the spiritus gave it a weird flavor that did not pair well with he spicy ahi. Next time I will order the roll without the sprouts inside or just get the spicy ahi gunkan. There are also other sushi sets which are extremely reasonable in price. The store is small and can only hold about 2-3 people at a time so you may have to wait outside for a little bit. They require masks while ordering and picking up in the store (it's their store policy). If you forget, they give you one to use. read more

Close to the Foodland entrance, this small sushi take out packs big taste. Lots of items to choose from and it didn't take that long for them to make a fresh Hibiscus Platter and futomaki roll. Super good poke bowl, still day dreaming about it. I came here with my boyfriend who grew up on this side of the island (I lived in Kapolei and was perfectly fine with my Foodland poke bowls). Surprised to find that I fell in love with the poke bowl here and it's now my new favorite poke spot. Super nice servers. The inside is small, not a spot where you would sit and eat. Would you believe me if I said I fantasize about the sushi here? Fast and tasty! Every time my husband and I are in the area we grab about 8-9 rolls. He gets the Ahi ones, and I always get the vegetable roll, well 3-4 of them. I oink out on them. It's just to easy to smash 4 rolls when they taste so good and the wrap is crunchy and fresh because they'll seal them in plastic with their magical wrapping so you never get soggy rolls. Halloween potluck dinner at mom's house! What shall I bring? I'm too tired to grocery shop and I don't have time to cook... Let's buy something that I wouldn't make... How about a sushi platter? My mom, sister, and niece were so happy and excited with my choice! I have ordered from Kozo Sushi in the Windward City Shopping Center in the past, so I gave them a call and placed an order. From the photo of a menu on Yelp, I guessed that a Hibiscus Platter would do the trick. Wrong. I went to the shop to take a look at the plastic food displayed in the glass case. Oh oh... Hibiscus Platter looks too small for my 2 brother in laws, 2 sisters, 3 nieces, nephew and his girlfriend, mom, and whoever else is invited (my mom's church friend and her family; and my sister's 3 coworkers and their children). I asked if I could change my order... No problem! I ordered a Hibiscus Platter and a combo roll. The food was a hit! Thanks for the free parking, efficient service, and no nonsense take-out business! I don't know what happened at this location.but the sushi is terrible now! They had a local crew making the sushi, and it was delicious! Just like the other location I go to in Moilili. This new crew is quick to fill the orders .. but the Nori is different, has no taste, the sushi rice is bad. Please bring back the other crew! read more

I love Kozo!! Ever since I first tried their spicy ahi bowl several years ago, i can't go more than a week or two without indulging in one (extra sauce please)! The ratio of the rice to fish is a bit lacking, but the flavor is amazing. I also really like that they have salmon skin rolls. Since I developed a taste for salmon skin, I tried many places with no avail. Little did I know my favorite sushi spot had exactly what I was looking for. The crispy, crunchy pieces of salmon skin with sprouts always satisfies my cravings. The workers are always friendly and the orders come out fast. Prices are a bit more expensive than other Kozo's but I firmly believe Kozo Sushi Kaneohe is the best Kozo hands down! They have the most authentic taste and freshest fish. Covid: it's a walk in sushi joint so no changes there. Only two people allowed in the store at a time, and everyone is required to wear a mask. read more

Gosh, this is a difficult one.. Their spicy ahi bowl is my FAVORITE. It's the texture I like. The sauce is everywhere. The rice isn't too soft or too hard, but it has the sushi-rice taste. The bowl is big enough to leave me satisfied, but I don't get overly stuffed (unless I've eaten it too fast.. which.. has happened). It isn't alllll that spicy, but I really do enjoy it. It's tasty. Everything about it is great. This is my go-to. This is one thing I will miss most when I leave. Without a single doubt. Being that the spicy ahi bowl is basically the only thing I've had.. I can't say much about their other items. They don't have an interesting selection, as you would say, a place like Ninja Sushi has. They have the regular stuff. Rolls, and all that. The bowl is their.. Highlight, as I would like to say. I have no problem with that. I've just never been interested in anything besides the bowl. But I guess, that could be good and bad. The downside to this place is its location. Windward City Shopping Center? Why? I mean.. Really. WHY? Also.. No seating? Yeah, okay, that one bench in the store.. But besides that, the best luck you have with finding a place to sit is on the curb or bench outside. Who wants to eat their delicious spicy ahi bowl outside? No one. That's not cute. It's hot. People need tables. However, the workers here are all very friendly. Just doing their job. I've never had a bad experience, in person or over the phone. Oh, also a plus.. I appreciated the friendly and cheap prices...but I prefer my sushi fresh and tasty, even if it costs a bit more. I think being Japanese doesn't help at times!! Surprisingly I enjoyed my Tekka Maki (cucumber rolls) with crunchy and fresh cucumbers! However, not so much of the fish. Therefore, I rate this place 3 stars. As long as you know what you're looking for and getting into, this is a great option for a wallet-friendly lunch in the neighborhood.
