Four of us took a tour of Kozuba and Son's Distillery on a Friday afternoon recently. According to their website, the Only thing that excites them more than their spirits, is the opportunity to share them. "Handcrafted" isn't just a label to them, it's what they do. Devon, our guide, explained that every part of the process is guided by their hands. They begin with hand-selected grain, then hand-mix and hand-mash the grain to get the perfect blend before distillation begins. We were warmly greeted by Devon, and we were each offered a taste of Kozuba Lemon Flavored Vodka which was very fresh tasting. Definitely there was no chemical aftertaste as I often find in the commercially flavored vodkas. We walked into the distillery and learned that this dream started in 2005 in Poland. Zbigniew "Papa" Kozuba, a biochemist and businessman, retired and moved to the countryside. While there, Papa began tinkering with cordials, continuing a tradition of infused spirits that many Polish families honored. His sons joined him and Papa and his sons turned the hobby into a business. After a few years producing a successful line of cordials, they ordered a hybrid copper still and shortly thereafter, they were distilling vodkas. Later on, the first Polish single malt whiskeys and other varieties of the brown spirit evolved. The family decided to move the business to Florida's Grand Central District - an area thirsty for small-batch, local spirits. They have two handmade German hybrid copper stills which they brought to the U.S., one is for vodkas and the other is used for whiskey. I recommend that everyone take a tour to learn for yourself about the processes. We headed back to the tasting room and experienced several delicious types of vodkas, whiskeys, Sunshine State Agave and cordials, etc. The BarBox Negroni and the Cranberry & Juniper Flavored Vodka were my favorite that day. I'm looking forward to the bourbon being ready soon too. We stopped in their on-site store and did not leave empty-handed. read more

We were greeted right away and our host was enthusiastic and friendly. He shared with us the history of the company, we tried some samples and did a brief tour of the distillery. They have a great gift shop as well. The place has a cool vibe in how it's decorated. We had a great time. I think it'd be fun for a group to go together. read more

Nice tour and sample tasting. Enthusiastic guide/host with plenty of details of the companies origins and future. Highly enjoyed leaning about these folks. Potato vodka is a game changer and I enjoyed the Amaro. New products in environmental friendly containers are the best I've tried. Don't skip this place! I made a point to stop before heading to the Rays/Red Sox baseball game- this distillery is right there near the ball field and they weren't open last time we were distillery hopping in St Petersburg. Kazuba & Sons Distillery is recommended by other distillers- John and I are working through the Florida Distillery Trail passport and we have hit up 23 distilleries now across the state and we have heard others brag about this particular distillery. When we arrived the owners were expecting a family, who were literally walking up right behind us. It was a Polish holiday- and this distillery was originally founded in Poland! The owner invited us in to tour with the family they were expecting and would transition between English and Polish for all of us. Then we got to the tasting! We could pick 4. My daughter tried their Tequila (not my spirit) and loved the white tequila over the dark. I tried several liqueurs (always hunting for possible sangria ingredients) and loved the pomegranate liqueur. John tried the whiskeys and bourbons- hmmmm (we really shared samples across all of us) and the Plum Whiskey and Straight Bourbon knocked our socks off! That's when the owner wowed us- that day only, because it was a Polish holiday, all bottles were bogo if you bought 2 of the same. Psh- you don't have to tell me twice! 2 Plum Whiskeys- check, 2 Bourbons- check, 2 Pomegranate Liqueurs- check. They also have boxed cocktails! Check check! lol. Crystin snagged a couple of mini bottles too. We left with 2 boxes of bottles! You could say we loved it. Great additions to our home bar! read more

The star of the distillery tour. This was our first stop on the second leg of the tour. It is filled with a rich family history, tons of photo opps, and great spirits. They have a souvenir ship that is filled with goodies. We found this on Groupon but I would pay double the regular price for this experience. We learned so much. The tour starts with a cocktail. It was about 30 minutes to an hour. we had lots of questions. After the tour you sample. This changed my mind about a lot of things I thought I didn't like. Everything was smooth and refreshing. This is a super chill distillery. The ambiance is just so relaxing. There is an old-timey vibe to the place. The bartender, Austin, is awesome. He gave us the origin of the place. Our first stop when reaching St. Pete. I booked a tour for four people but had to call and change it last minute due to the bridge being closed due to heavy rain and winds. They were very accommodating and understanding. When we got there, we sat at the bar. The bartender made us some cocktails with boxed vodka and lemonade; really tasty. Then we waited for more people to join us on the tour. The tour guide/bartender gave us a view of the distillery and all the equipment that creates these liquors. Most of the canisters were made from copper. After that, we went to taste more drinks. We had probably about 10 mini shots of all the liquors they made. From whiskey, vodka, bourbon, gin, to sweet dessert drinks. Then we went to the gift store after the tour concluded. The building was pretty big and the bartender was super nice and informative. They gave us tips on where to go. We had a really awesome time! You can book events there too! Check them out when you're in the area! read more

The distillery is located at the edge of the trendy Warehouse Arts district. I called to make an appointment a couple of weeks in advance. We were greeted warmly by the tour guide/bartender, Cara. It was just us and another couple. We were offered a welcome cocktail- vodka and blueberry lemonade. The tour guide was very friendly, informative and entertaining. The distillery has a quite interesting history that spans over several generations and two continents. The guide walked us through the facility where the magic happens. She explained the process from start to finished product in great details. After the tour we enjoyed samples of their vodka, whiskey and cordials. Yummy! Highly recommended tour, even if you don't drink vodka. What a wonderful afternoon! read more

What a hidden gem in DTSP! This distillery, founded by a father and sons trio from Poland, is tucked away amidst industrial warehouses, but only about a mile or so from local favorites 3 Daughters and Cage Brewing. I bought a Groupon for a tour for two on a whim but decided it was a cool place to have my birthday celebrations, so we arrived on a Saturday around 5pm to the totally renovated building featuring neat, prohibition inspired murals. It was alarmingly empty, which is shocking because it seems like a great place to hang out and grab a couple drinks! I'm not sure why they haven't opened it as a public bar (perhaps it's a liquor licensing issue?) but they have a great entertaining space. The staff was so lovely as to fit us in but we did wish at least one of the owners/creators (the Kozubas) had been there for us to meet! We were greeted with a delicious Moscow mule in a fancy highball glass and led on tour through the entire facility from start to finish: from the raw wheat to the awesomely copper distilling equipment and finally the storage facility that houses (and ages) all of their delicious spirits! As for the tasting, we got to try everything available: a smooth vodka, barrel aged vodka, white dog (a moonshine-like concoction that didn't settle with me), a delicious whiskey and two cordials in cranberry and quince flavors respectively. The cordials were delicious but the quince tasted less like the fruit and more like the pepper that was added to the recipe. I would definitely like to come back again once (and if?) they start opening as a bar! I could totally picture the place with a live band and a food truck! P.S. We left with a bottle of their super smooth vodka! read more

We attended tour on a Friday at 5 pm. Just west of the Rays stadium, you are close to several dining options before or after your tour. Only $10 a person the tour is well worth your time and $10. You taste test all the products as part of the tour! I was the DDriver for this trip tasting limited samples, but my friends tried every product including the pre mixed cocktails in the Bar Boxes and were amazed at the purity of each sample as the distillery prides itself in using only organic ingredients and boasts about no hangovers the next day. The scheduled 30 minute tour lasted 90 minutes for us with our fantastic tour guide Maddie. She answered all our questions and created such excitement about the products we purchased several items from the gift shop. The history of the Kozuba family coming from Poland in 2013 to start their first distillery in the US and reasons for choosing St. Pete Florida is fascinating. The distillery must be kept at a temperature and humidity level to match conditions in Poland. Several of the aged barrels started in a Poland and had to be shipped by freighter to keep the product pristine. Go local and enjoy this tour! read more

We stopped by the distillery to check out their operations. The distillery equipment is very nice. They brought all of their equipment over from Poland and reassembled it here in the US. We enjoyed tasting their products. They have some boxed products that are not bad. Their bottled spirits were good. We purchased a bottle to take home with us. The tour was not so good. The gentleman giving the tour was new and had almost no knowledge of the equipment or the distilling process. He could not even tell us the difference between the two stills and their equipment. read more

I would have never known about Kozuba & Sons had I not randomly bought a Groupon for it, which fortunately they extended past the worst of the times of COVID. I'm glad I found it though-- it turned out to be a great place. My husband went on the tour on a Friday afternoon and had a good time. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We've been on distillery tours before, in Scotland no less, but still learned something! We liked several of their products, particularly the whiskey and the barbox cocktails (which would be great for an outdoor party). My husband brought the white dog. Kozuba & Sons is a true St. Pete gem! We spent our Saturday afternoon with them with a distillery tour and loved every minute! Our guide, Maddy, was very knowledgeable on not only the products, but the history of the family. The spirits they offer are fantastic and are all made in-house from start to finish. My favorite was their wheat vodka, but I may have become a gin fan in the process. We couldn't leave without stopping by their store inside and stocked up on their "bar box" cocktails! We will definitely be making the drive here than any other liquor store! We're planning on bringing another group with us soon and hope Maddy will be our guide again! read more

My friend had purchased a Groupon for a tour, so we took him up on his offer to check out Kozuba & Sons. To my surprise, it was a great tour with an even better spirit tasting! We were greeted by Julia, who welcomed us with a DELICIOUSLY refreshing cocktail of vodka/local ginger beer, and gave us some background of the history of the Kozuba Family. She then took us on a tour and brought us back for our tasting. Would definitely recommend this as an activity if you are visiting St. Pete! We had a great time at the Hooch and Pooch fundraiser yesterday. Beautiful weather and nice folks. The WASS food trucked rocked as always and hot stand was delicious. It was the first time Ford's u.s. at the distillery but it won't be the last. We started with a vodka and tonic and cranberry vodka respectively. Then the next was their vodka margarita. Tasty! I surprised my boyfriend when we visited St. Petersburg with an order from Kozuba. I ordered Vodka in a box, yes in a box, bloody mary mix, whisky and gummi bears (with alittle "spirit")! The order was packed perfectly and delivered to our car, following covid protocols. I had visited the distillery in advance to make sure that it would be a good idea to bring our wedding party of 10 here for a tour and tasting. When I visited, I spoke with Maddie, who was delightful and welcoming and we thought it would be an excellent activity for the wedding party. However upon arriving we had the Director of Marketing as our tasting and tour guide. She was simply awful. She was cranky, unpleasant and in a huge hurry. She started while some of us still in the restroom even though my guests asked her to wait a second. We had even arrived early specifically so that we could relax for a minute and be at the tasting room on time which we were. She spoke very quickly and, was very very impatient about our choosing a premade cocktail tasting. This continued throughout the tour. She said there was a group coming behind us, but that should not have been our problem. They said the tour and tasting would be about 45 minutes to an hour but she wanted to hurry us through in about 30 minutes. There was a group that came in behind us but there was a second guide for them. When I pulled up a chair to sit at the tasting bar she snarled "don't sit down", we are leaving for the tour right now. She was very rude and ruined the whole experience. At the end, she hustled us into the gift shop, where we all did spend a lot of money, which was the only thing that made her stop frowning. If you come here be sure and ask for Maddie or anyone except the marketing Director as your tour and tasting guide. We paid an extra $10 each for the three premium tastings. Do not do that. They were acidic and not as good as the regular tastings. read more

I like this place very much. It's a nice old warehouse that has been redone. There is a beautiful bar area where you can sample the products. We were lucky enough to have one of the owners, Matthias, do the tasting part of the tour. We learned a tremendous amount about the process and the ingredients required to make them. We bought a bottle of their vodka. Really very pure and without that rubbing alcohol smell. Makes an outstanding martini straight up. I also liked the Quince which is sort of like a bitter apple flavored aperitif. The polish don't make their aperitifs sweet, like other distillers. Overall a great place to get out of the Florida heat for a couple of hours and learn about the distilling process. The people are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Came here for a Wedding :) So this review will mainly focus on the place as an event location. We did get to try their Vodka, and whiskey. Both very good. Inside is a nice full bar with a couple of medium size rooms(our Buffett was set up in one) but the main focus is the huge patio. The crew setup a seating section for the ceremony and in maybe ten minutes after the ceremony was done they took it down and set up the dinning area on the same patio very efficient. My only complaint would be we actually couldn't hear the ceremony, not sure if they didn't provide a mic or the brides didn't want one but because of the traffic noise we couldn't hear the ceremony :( if I go back I may up my review because it's really a wonderful venue read more

Excellent products for an excellent price point. I'm not ususally a vodka drinker, but the potato vodka was delightfully smooth, and the Kozuba Starkus, with the barrel aging, was an intriguing midway point between vodka and whiskey. The quince cordial is a deliciously herbal digestif, and the rye whiskeys hold up well against ryes from the whiskey heartland of the U.S. Overall, Kozuba with its Polish tradition of distilling is a unique addition to St. Petersburg's craft beverage scene, and well worth a visit. If I lived nearby, I would stock up on all of their categories before everyone finds out about this gem and their prices increase. read more

When I travel to locations where distilleries are I try to visit them. I checked the business hours for this distillery in order to visit and hopefully purchase some of their products. They advertised as being open Saturday 12 noon-7pm. We drove a distance to get there (Saturday 2:00pm) just to find them closed. I called all the numbers listed and no one answers. The answering machines don't provide any helpful information... disappointing and a waste of time. I can't vouch for what they produce, but at least from an operations perspective, they rank low in comparison to other distilleries I've visited around the country. We stopped by this Distillery while visiting the area. Since Tours where only offered Thursday-weekend, we didn't get a tour, but we thoroughly enjoyed a tasting in their tasting room and the rep answered many questions (felt like a mini-tour). Their products were very tasty and smooth and they were very welcoming in personality. The 'warehouse' that it's in is really modern, neat, and clean. I look forward to checking out their vodka in Texas, as we were told Total Wine will carry their product, I believe under a different/private label name. Great place and products! read more

Can't say enough about this amazing place. From the start to finish it was wonderful. Julia was an absolute doll to work with and really helpful! I organized a birthday celebration for my husband here and everyone was impressed with the entire experience! I highly recommend stopping by or hosting an event there. The indoor bar and tasting room is a really nice design. Once the weather cools off the huge outside courtyard would make a great party space. We will definitely go back again! There were 4 of us and we made the planned 1 hour trip to Kozuba & Sons Distillery. We were very excited to go but not smart enough to find out what time they closed. We pulled in right at 7:00 which is closing time. Well, out walks an employee and she was done for the day. We asked if she was closed and she said, "yes", but would be happy to let us in for tasting, buying, whatever. She let us taste the different kinds of vodka and cordials they had to offer all which were delicious, I might add. She then went a huge step further and asked if we wanted to see the distillery. Of course we did! This private tour and tasting made us feel very special and we were so grateful since she didn't need to do any of this after hours. We ended up buying several bottles of vodka and a cordial before leaving. This woman's name was Julia. If you happen to make it to the Kozuba & Sons Distillery you will be in for a treat. We popped in during an off time for tours, but Katie and Mosh went out of their way to welcome us. The building that houses the distillery was refurbished to perfection. The owners have brought their polish technique to St Petersburg. The Starkus vodka is an example of this. Polish tradition is to barrel vodka when a child is born. Upon marriage, the barrel is tapped and enjoyed at the wedding. The Starkus here is aged in a whiskey barrel. It's delicious. Worth a visit and a taste. We left with 4 bottles. read more
