Honestly, coming into this book store with my boyfriend healed something in me. It brought back…read moreyears of hunting through dusty shelves with aged pages as a child with my dad looking to find that one perfect read I was allowed for the week of good schoolwork. The Sci-fi section was PACKED with trade papers, which is always a glory to behold as someone who misses the affordability and convenience books used to hold. Slipping a small trade paper of Terry Pratchett or a small copy of Little women used to be so convenient-rather than shelling out 20-30 dollars for a display piece that's bulky to carry around. The owner was also as helpful and sweet as humanly possible. He showed me right where I needed to be, and even helped me dig through the shelves to find if he had that one special edition of the secret garden he remembered having. Alas- it turned out he sold it a little while back. But all the same he was the kindest soul and most importantly had the passion in his eyes and heart for books that I look for walking into any book store, used or new. I need this experience, I needed to know places like this can still be called home. So to the owner of Next Chapter Books I thank you from the bottom of my heart and promise I will be back for more of your trade papers!

I stopped by this CSUN Campus store when I was at CSUN meeting people. This is the first week that…read moreCSUN spring semester began and there was not that many people in the store during the afternoon. The store looks great and how they did the layout works for them. I used to work at this bookstore when I first started college here. They made some changes to how they place the books and have a better help desk now. The checkout line is still the same and their little tech center hasn't changed much. The prices will vary depending on what you're looking for but it's a college so it's expected.

I dropped by to see the old store where I did purchased a sweatshirt in the 90's and it is still extremely overpriced and expensive. I don't know what their pricing justifications but for students who are dependent on their parents, loans and scholarships, how can they even afford such items? How can you expect the university to advertise or even promote the college, if their students can't even afford the school shirts? It's been going on too long and I hope the Board of Trustees look at their pricing schemes and consider reasonably lowering the affordability of their apparels? The only think I appreciate are the staff who have all been nice and friendly, the isles are well kept, clean and very organized, too. In all, the apparels are just beyond the pockets of the majority. Shame! Really!

This bookstore is absolutely adorable! It has a great selection of books across a wide variety of…read moregenres and series. They also have a small section with DVDs and CDs, which was such a fun dose of late-'90s and early-2000s nostalgia. I loved it. One of my favorite features was their "Surprise Reads" section. The books are wrapped so you can't see the cover, and each one has a short description of the story or theme instead. It encourages you to choose a book based on the synopsis rather than the cover, which I think is such a fun idea. I've discovered some fantastic books through "Surprise Reads," so I was excited to see they had a section dedicated to them. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They helped me look for a series (The Telesa or Covenant series) that I am trying to get. Unfortunately they didn't have the series but hopefully in the future. The location is great as it is at a mall close to coffee shops to grab you a book and head on for coffee or tea to read and enjoy.

Great atmosphere, cool staff, and really good book selection! Love their social media book…read morerecommendations as well - that's how they lure me into the store. I love their tote bag discount and stamp cards, and if you love books, you'll end up racking up a lot of stamp cards before being able to use them all They also host a lot of fun events like author signings, book bedazzling, and trivia nights. The store is located in the heart of The Village in Topanga and there's ample parking. If you want to read your haul immediately, you'll find a lot of seats just outside the store. The store is also pet-friendly except on days they have pet guests, and they usually post a sign outside.
