So my daughter's bf knowing my 82 yo momma loves kpop and watching Korean dramas suggested we go together with her. I had never done kpot or kpot bbq, but he and my daughter had. We are lucky they were there to guide us bc this place did not explain very much. We 5 were seated at a six pot booth with the grill in the center. If one person in your party wants to do bbq there is the $5 up charge for everyone so $40pp for food is your starting point. I asked for a margarita and they asked what liquor to put in, I said tequila lol....(it was a drink on the drink menu) they give you an iPad and as soon as you order your soup base the server will turn on the iPad and your 2 hr time limit starts so know what you're going to start with to order bf having her turn on the iPad which is where you will order all food going in your pots or on the grill. There is a spray on the table for the grill (another thing not mentioned) also you can help yourself to the sides bar, and order sides like French fries (which my daughter did) and it's included, there's also hoodsie cups of ice cream past the bar (they also don't mention this) silverware is available near the sides bar (also not mentioned) the seats at our six seater were in really bad shape but the rest of the lighting and bar decor is on the fancier shiny disco like side. Our waitress was very nice and changed the grill out for us. Since my mom doesn't eat much, and my husbands a vegetarian (which they did have tofu options) they really did not eat $40 of food but they enjoyed the experience. I love this place, the drinks are phenomenal you can get both unlimited Korean BBQ and K-pot there's a $10 charge if you want to take the soup home if you don't finish it. There's so many different options and then there's also a little buffet as well. It's so delicious and the service has always been amazing everytime I go. Been to at least 4-5 K-pops around the tristate areas, this is the worst far! A cockroach was found on our dining table. There was a strong sewage-like odor in the restaurant. The overall condition of the restaurant appeared disorganized and poorly maintained. I had concerns regarding the quality and condition of the food being served. When these concerns were brought to management's attention, the response was dismissive rather than addressing the sanitation concerns. This was my first time coming to this establishment as I normally go to the one on Boston post. Although I probably wouldn't come back to this one if I'm not in the area it was still just as good. The portion sizes were much larger compared to those at Boston post which was absolutely phenomenal. They also had thick slices of hanger steak which I have noticed the BP location does not give much of and as of late has stopped serving. The service was even better than the food. I cannot for the life of me remember our waitresses name but she was an absolute saint and made the dining experience a that much better. I would go back a million times if it meant she could be my waitress again. Finally, the restaurant itself was very aesthetically pleasing. They also have a massive screen where they play K-pop videos and music in the background is always a great vibe in my eyes. The only thing I would like to mention is that the floor was very slippery from the moment we walked in to the moment we sat down. I've been to Ktiown in LA a dozen times. Local Korean BbQ just dont scratch the surface. KPot in Hamden killed. When you walk in, the huge TV screen playing dancing Koreans with K-pop music, gas cooktops, overhead exhaust systems, the smells- you can't deny that this location nailed it. The Orange location was like KPot lite but Hamden was really authentic. I got the BbQ, the Bulgogi being my favorite. The food was good but less important, it's the experience. One big problem with the billing was that the Kpot added tip into the bill ( 18% ) and my bad was that I did not review the bill , when I paid the bill, the machine ask for tips again that I did add the tip. I dined here yesterday evening with a friend while in Hamden, CT to celebrate my birthday. It was not an authentic Korean BBQ & Hot Pot experience, like what I get in Flushing or Bayside, Queens. There was no banchan (side dishes) placed on the table like they are in the Korean restaurants in Queens. We had to go to the buffet table to get some, e.g., Kimchi, squid salad, seaweed salad, and few choices seemed appetizing. I did get some Kimchi, and it tasted great grilled. There is no appetizer, entree or dessert menu. Disappointingly, there were no scallion pancakes or dumplings on the menu, and I was looking forward to having some. I understand that this is a franchise, whose menu is the same throughout the U.S. My friend and only had the BBQ experience, not the Hot Pot. Mercy was our server until a young man replaced her when she went off shift. They both showed us how to order meats, seafood and vegetables from the Tablet and how to cook our food. They did a fantastic job. The BBQ was good. I especially liked the garlic shrimp and the sliced beef belly. The drinks were good, too. My friend had some sangria, and I had a mocktail: club soda mixed with lychee juice. Lastly, there were no overhead vents, so we left the restaurant with odor lingering on our clothes. I will not be back because I prefer authentic Korean restaurants, where there are too many banchan, Chefs Specials, entrees and casseroles to choose from, and I don't mind making a culinary journey to Queens for that. read more

Very first Korean BBQ experience. This place was very cool and my son and I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. First off our server was awesome. Even though she has only been working there for less than two weeks, she was very hospitable, walked us through the whole process, and made it a point to keep checking in on how we were doing and if we had any needs. She was very personable. Now the food was super fresh, and very tender and tasty. It took us a little time to get into a rhythm but we figured it all out - hot pot, grilling, vegetables, sauces, and spices. If you like eating CARNIVORE or KETO style, you will have many options in meats and greens - shellfish, chicken, beef, pork, lamb, bok-choy, spinach, endive, lemongrass, mushrooms of many varieties. If you want to indulge on dumplings and udon, go for it. We had the AYCE lunch with hot pot and it was definitely worth the cost because of the quality. I have no other Korean BBQ to compare but we are lovers of authentic Szechuan, Dim Sum, Vietnamese, and Chinese - so even though they promote the experience and atmosphere, it does not disappoint on quality food! She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel cared for throughout the evening. She checked in regularly, swapped out our grill without us even having to ask, and offered helpful tips--like telling us which meats were for the hotpot vs. the grill. She genuinely wants you to enjoy the experience. One of the highlights was when the waitstaff came out to sing happy birthday--it was such a fun and thoughtful touch. I'm a huge fan of Q Pot in California, so I was thrilled to see that a restaurant with a similar concept had opened in Hamden. The Good: - Loved the AYCE concept and the wide variety of items on offer that were easily ordered on the tablet - All of the hot pot and KBBQ ingredienets were fresh and of good quality. For $36 pere person on the weekend, it's a great value. - Our server Gabby was very sweet and helpful, frequently changing out our grills - We liked the seafood and fried app buffet, even if some of the items could have been better quality The Bad: - Several of the hot pot items we ordered never came. The only hot pot meat we got was the sliced pork. Despite ordering sliced ribeye 8 times over our first hour there, it never came to our table. Meanwhile, we saw it arrive at multiple tables around us. When we finally asked a server about it, he told us it was sold out. We wished they could have updated the tablet on the menu or told us it wasn't coming. - Most of the Korean BBQ meats didn't taste authentic. The kalbi was great, but the spicy marinade for the pork belly and pork bulgogi didn't taste Korean at all. - The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a nightclub with neon blue lights and a giant screen playing Kpop videos. They charged me full price for a child under 10 because she was above 5 feet tall. Nowhere on the website does it have a height requirement for children. They also had a special on skewers, however they told me we would be charged two dollars for each skewer not eaten. The lunch menu is limited which they also don't tell you. The server informed me I would have to pay full price if I wanted the "good meat". I am not a fan of everyone having to get hot pot and it not being individualized per person, everyone has to pay if one person wants it. Kpot is a solid place for when the Korean barbecue craving hits. The space is open, large, and very clean. you can't go wrong with the short ribs, beef & pork belly & bulgogi. Our favorite was the short ribs. The marinade is really delicious. It gets questionable with meats such as the steak. It was tough in texture. I agree with the ginger ale tasting quite funny. It tasted like the soda machine was broken and it was just giving an odd tasting seltzer water. Also, there was quite a delay when I placed the order and when the food came. So that was also something we noticed. There are K-pop music videos playing in the large screen in the back but I didn't notice any K-pop music playing. I think it would definitely add to the ambiance and attract more people to the restaurant especially the K-pop fans. Our server was very kind and nice. Really like both kimchis. Came for lunch with a couple friends. One friend had been to KPOT in Orange, but mostly we were novices. We wanted to try everything so we ordered the Hot Pot and BBQ with a lot of vegetables and meats to get the full experience. It was a little disappointing. The restaurant is different inside, like a nightclub, which was fun. The staff is friendly but we had questions that our server couldn't answer because it appeared that no one's Korean there. And if you've never done this before you need servers who can help you. My other issue was you get lots of plates, based on your order, that cover the entire tabletop because there's also a grill & a couple of stoves. We had to find people to take away empty or dirty plates so we could actually move things around on the table. You would think busboys would do that automatically. So now that we have experienced it and learned a lot on our own, would we go back? No. Experienced service matters. And we didn't like the way the meat was prepared & cut. It wasn't easy to BBQ. The photo is our table after we had them buss a lot of plates. You can see how crowded it was still. We went to KPOT Hamden, CT on December 30th after work during the lunch hour. We were told that it was a holiday and we needed to pay the dinner price????!!!! First and foremost let's talk ambiance. The restaurant is brand new and the interior is well decorated and very clean. The staff is friendly, attentive and I believe the manager was making periodic rounds checking on the patrons. I recognize and appreciate the effort they are making into putting their best foot forward. However I have to knock points off for the quality of the steak. Personally I've never had a steak more tough than what I had at kpot. Mind you I wasn't expecting prime steak however when I say it was below choice just know I mean it. Maybe it was a one off thing. I wasn't about to find out. The rest of the meat was great actually but avoid the steak. I also had to take points of for the soda. Or should I say seltzer? Our table had gotten ginger ale and it was very watered down. The waitress kindly explained that the machine was having issues so I'd stick to water next time. $31 All You Can Eat: Here's the deal, this is not a buffet where you choose from the steamer trays. For $31, you choose the bbq, the hot pot or BOTH for an additional $6. More like a fondue then buffet. You order from tablet menu the wait staff brings it to you and then you cook it! There is a small grill built into the table (more like a griddle) and you cook your own food, (BBQ). There is a heating element as well like a glass-top stove where you keep your (HOT-POT) soup warm. Your table is your stove; hot stove. NOT A PLACE FOR YOUNG KIDS! The griddle gets caked up from grilling but they come and change it for you. The decor and staff are outstanding but the $31 price is a deal breaker. If I'm going to spend that amount of money, my food should be cooked for me. As far as the food being good, you're the one cooking it. No salad bar style buffet, just sauces, kimchi,and couple more tid bits. BTW, you can't eat at the bar. Beautiful place, super friendly staff but it's just overpriced and too loud. Sorry but not what I expected for the money. Too much work for me. $31-$37?
