I worked with Chef Cooper last year for our Black Titan Welcome event at Cal State Fullerton. He worked with our budget and our vision by providing quality and satisfying bites, with the limitations of state funding. The food was beautiful and delicious. Small morsels that provided a satisfying experience without making guest confused that they would get a meal from the event; this was important to us because we wanted to encourage folks to explore our downtown community with the excuse of getting dinner after the event. With service, the staff was friendly and hustled. They were easy to work with, and adapted well to having never been at our venue and it being an old 90-something year old house. After I reached out, Chef Cooper gave me a call to discuss what kind of menu I had in mind and I explained that we wanted a little bit of Cuban flair for my husband and his family. We made some changes to the menu leading up to the event as well and he was very flexible. We emailed you several times and you have still not responded. My email addresses are unchanged and my number is still in service as it has been for the past seven years. It's the same number you texted me through. Please show some integrity. You have multiple ways to contact me such as email, phone, text, you know, the same ways you were in touch when you were getting payment. The fact is, I have no record of you attempting to contact me. I do not call plastic wrapped cutlery with a napkin included (KFC-style) "finest quality cutlery," neither do I consider cheap plastic small plates from the 99-cents store "fine quality." You simply did not deliver what you had agreed prior to being paid. Plus, you claimed to have given us a discount. I don't think so. The bottom line is had you been present for my wedding as you had agreed instead of taking on another wedding, perhaps we could have spoken to you at that time. I'm still disappointed and I had tremendous faith in you and your "Black-owned" business. When people use the term "Black-owned" with little to no integrity, it is a disservice to Black-owned businesses that are truly committed to serving their communities and providing quality service. What a blessing that we found Chef Cooper of Krafted Culture when we did. He answered our call at 7 pm and was on top of it. He also remained accessible outside of business hours throughout the time we worked together. On that first call, he asked us all about the wedding we envisioned and was confident he could add to our island theme. Within a few days we had his quote and were planning for a tasting with him. We were very pleased about the tasting because Cooper showed care and thought by setting up a nice atmosphere and allowing time for us to take notes in private. We had had several tastings before the one with him, so we appreciated that it felt perfect. The sauces he makes from scratch are delicious! You could really taste that they are made from scratch and feel Cooper's pride in them. We decided on kalua pork for our menu and multiple guests shared that they went back for seconds and thirds at the wedding buffet. My husband would have kept eating it except that he always got pulled in all the directions. We also appreciated that he had his staff serve us plates while we had a minute to make sure we were fed on our big day. Long story short: Our original wedding venue canceled on us exactly one month out. We decided to plan a micro wedding and were blessed to come across Krafted Culture. Chef Cooper was amazing through every single step of the process, from the beginning (when he scheduled a phone meeting where he got to ask essential questions, such as budgeting, food preferences, allergies, etc) to the middle (hosting a covid-safe food tasting), to the very end... He was professional, personable, and really took our needs, wants, and vision into consideration. STOLE MY MONEY AND RAN. I reserved "Chef" Cooper for a Thanksgiving dinner I was hosting hoping to take the inconvenience factor out of food. I paid a premium price of $2000 in full (which I now realize was a huge mistake). The week of my event the forecast showed rain. I contacted cooper to discuss possible options in the event we had to cancel due to the weather. After realizing there were not any options we decided to move forward with the original plan. I NEVER CANCELLED. The following day cooper emailed me and said he was no longer available for my event. It came as a surprise, and here I am 2 days out of my event, already worried about the rain and now no food! When I asked for a full refund, he said he would not give me one because this is his "terms and conditions". HE cancelled me. When I didn't accept this, he offered $1600 due to the fact he "purchased" food. Why would you purchase food for an event you were no longer available for? It's been 1 month and I now have had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. This has been a terrible experience. I've never been robbed in such a manner. And "chef" cooper you should be ashamed of yourself on how you have treated me. I was never rude or irrational. I just want my money back.
