Seriously, this is the only place you should be getting your coffee. The medium roast smells wonderful and the flavors of the lattes really come out in their drinks. Really cool vibe too I tried a couple other places when I got here, one that had a really good review but it just tasted slightly watered down. Found a yelper than had been to the one that I went to as well as kraken and since her review was spot of for the other, I was excited to try the one that she recommended. She was right, this place just hits the spot and has great options for drinks and food. I've been three days in a row now and I'm trying to figure out how to get this drink at home. This hidden gem serves up some of the best locally roasted coffee beans and specialty drinks on the island- Kraken signature drinks (served hot or cold) include lattes, frappes, cold brews, and smoothies. I stopped by here yesterday for my morning coffee. Whenever I go on vacation I try to hit up a new coffee shop every morning and on this day I headed over to Kraken Coffee in Wailua Gateway. While I have been to a couple of other Kraken locations before, including the day before, this one was different as it was an actual storefront in a strip mall instead of a food truck. They also sell shave ice here. With it being a storefront, they had a decent amount of seating along with a clear ordering area. For my coffee on this morning I went with a large Surf's Up cold brew, which the menu described as coconut mac nut with a sweet foam topper. Since I had run 17 miles earlier in the day, I was also hungry and their jalapeño cheddar bagel caught my eye, so I ordered one of those as well. It did not take long before I had both my drink and food and was headed back to my car. As soon as I got in, I dug in. When I first opened the bagel it looked a little overdone, but there was no bitterness from the darker parts and it actually ended up being cooked perfectly. As for the coffee, I could not get enough of it. The coconut mac nut cold brew was strong with a bit of earthiness from the mac nut and some sweetness from the coconut. The sweet foam was the real standout though as I loved both the texture and the added sweetness. Paired with the bold coffee, it worked really well and I finished it quickly. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my bagel and coffee were good and I would also be interested in trying their shave ice next time. read more

I love that Kraken has a location in Wailea. They have a legit brick and mortar and there isn't a drive through, but you can order ahead and pick it up. I got an iced dirty chai and it was spicy and delicious. They have plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. Great coffee and great vibes. read more

Love this coffee. We had originally tried Kraken Coffee at their food truck location. So glad they opened this location. Ambiance is relaxed, extremely original decorated and gives an elegant vibe. Customer Service is great. You can order at the self order kiosk or at the counter. They have very interesting coffee options, frappes and the classic coffees. We ordered the Dirty Iced Kraken Chai, Oreo Smoothie and a Dirty Iced Matcha. All made to perfection. Prices are very reasonable for the great quality of each drink. A must to try here in Maui. The place is clean and located in a shopping with parking. There are tables to sit in the place. read more

I was so excited to see Kraken had a brick an mortar! This was one of our first stops in town. We absolutely love Kraken coffee and they are our favorite coffee on Maui. The space is bright and light. I loved seeing some of the new options they have with a store front. I always have to get their iced coffee, coffee cubes should be mandatory in all iced coffees and I love that it is the norm with Kraken. We came here multiple times during our most recent visit and every employee was always so kind and helpful. So excited for Kraken, I just wish we were closer so we could visit them more often. read more

My husband and I have been going to the Kraken trucks for several years. We were so excited to see a new brick and mortar store pop up near The Monkeypod Kitchen in Wailea. When we walked in, both the gentleman working there happily greeted us. Matt shared that they've only been there a couple weeks and they haven't had an official grand opening yet. Their current temporary hours are 7am-2pm but you may be able to catch them open later. (We went at 4:30 yesterday and they were still open.) I've tried many of their popular coffees--they're all a hit but I personally love their iced mochas the best. To me, the mochas are a little tangy or something, which I love. My husband loves their cold brew and nitro. If you're in the Wailea area, come here for your coffee needs! read more

Terrible experience. The barista was rude from the get go. No greetings or smiles or even a simple hello, just a curt "do you have something for me to work on" and when I didn't think I heard her right, she said it again. We also asked for soy and she was saying that her boss told her soy and nonfat milk are the same (what????????). she told us twice and that was enough for us to want something else. Then we asked for a cup of ice on the side as we ordered a nitro and she was adamant of not giving us ice. Then after taking our order, she left for a few minutes and came back just to lean her elbows on the counter while scrolling through her phone. Idk that was just a bad experience all around. Never experienced that at any of their trucks and I was excited over them having a storefront. Plus, as a barista, I would never talk to a customer the way she spoke to me.
