The chocolate here is creative, fabulous and delicious. I'm not sure if the products are made on premises, but whoever is making them has been around the block quite a few times before. My favorites are the dark chocolate "jelly ring" (although it's not a ring, but rather a cube), and the milk chocolate covered pretzels. Both items are simply off the charts good. They have plenty of options for children and adults alike. There is one huge problem though......After tasting a confectionery treat from here, you'll never want to go back to the commercialized garbage you find in most stores. Get here. Try some. Enjoy tremendously.

So delicious!! Great customer service. First timer and did not disappoint. I love my chocolate with nuts and it was delicious. The sample box is a good choice. The smallest box fits about 12 pieces in it. There are lots of gift options inside. Prepackaged chocolates and even stuffed animals. Will def be back. Will def make a great gift for the chocolate lover. Lots of variety and all come in milk or dark chocolate

We stopped by here while exploring the town for some chocolate. We ended up getting some blueberry milk chocolate bark that tasted good and was loaded with blueberries. We also got some milk chocolate covered macadamia nuts that also had a good ratio of chocolate to nuts.

As you can see, the box did not even last long enough to take a proper photo!

Krause's is a childhood favorite of mine and a family tradition around the holidays from growing up in the Hudson Valley. This Christmas I decided to send several boxes as gifts to friends and family that I was unable to see because of the pandemic. They did a fantastic job shipping everything in time for christmas despite what I imagine was probably a high volume of orders. As for the chocolates themselves, you need to try it to fully understand how delicious these are! They really are better than any of the "fancy" Belgian or Swiss chocolates I've tried at a much more reasonable price. Thank you Krause's for making this holiday a bit more cheerful!

OH MY GOSH THIS CHOCOLATE IS LIFE-CHANGING. I DONT THINK I WILL EVER GO BACK TO EATING CIVILIAN REGULAR CHOCOLATE. I am not exaggerating. My boyfriend and I came up to Saugerties for a weekend getaway from nyc. One fun game we came up with was "chocolate wars." We tested out a couple of the chocolate shops in the area and this is BY FAR the best in the area AND THE WORLD. I can't even give you a recommendation about which pieces to try because they all blew my mind. There are like 59 options and they ALL have dark and milk chocolate. Try them all. Get a giant sampler and just eat all of them. Trust me on this one.

All their chocolates are amazingly delicious, dark chocolate sugar-free chocolate, milk chocolate, Jellybeans, everything there is just delicious. Even in this time of the pandemic when they are busy they still have time to make everything slow and with 100% great quality

A few things appeared to have been stored away and sorta looks as if it's kinda shoved to the side. For example : soft serve machine. Not sure if some things are placed there because not in season purposes? I wanted candy corn, my husband got a rootbeer. We were both satisfied with what we got. All payments accepted. So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. Don't miss the carrot cake doughnut topped with maple walnuts and stuffed with macerated pineapple. The passion fruit and blackberry parfait or those rainbow cookie tricolor doughnuts. They have a sweet for everyone! Kingston Candy Bar might not be the hippest spot on the block but the love Diane puts into her work is palpable. In fact, it was the very first stop my husband and I made because I couldn't wait to enjoy my favorite chocolates again. Unfortunately, this visit was incredibly disappointing. The first thing I noticed was the new logo and packaging. While I know businesses evolve, the new design loses the classic, elegant feel that made Krause's so special and instead looks much more generic. More importantly, the chocolates themselves are not the same. Many of the pieces are noticeably smaller than they used to be, and the chocolate tastes different. Several pieces even had bloom, which affected both their appearance and texture. I purchased a variety of chocolates, including individual pieces from the display case, chocolate bars, and peppermint patties, and every product seemed to reflect a decline in quality. To make matters worse, many of my longtime favorite pieces were no longer available. I've happily recommended Krause's for years because it consistently offered some of the best homemade chocolates in the Capital Region. This time, however, I left feeling disappointed and honestly saddened. I truly hope the owners will consider returning to the quality, recipes, and traditions that built Krause's outstanding reputation, because many longtime customers remember how exceptional their chocolates used to be.

Yummy and not overwhelmingly sweet which seems to be the trend. But what stood out was their version of a Macchiato I got. It was strong, rich and not milky! It was on the smaller side, but the barista named Lauren, nailed it! She was quite friendly and pleasant as well. The other barista whom I did not catch her name was friendly and very nice. The both of them made for such a nice coffee break as I just had a beer prior. The ambiance was antique and modern with a cool poem stash on the bay window that gave a nice touch of reading pleasure and the seating which was intimate and close. Not a big place but organized well. Lighting was more natural lighting which was really nice. I love great coffee and if you are looking for a nice cup of some and some good cake to go along with it, this is where to go. Thank you for an awesome experience.
