I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this wonderful establishment in the charming town of Rhinebeck. As soon as I stepped inside, the intoxicating and euphoric smell of chocolates hit me in the face in the best way possible. The welcoming staff could not have been any lovelier. Got a tasty assortment of marzipan and lemon cream chocolates which were/are divine. How could you not indulge in chocolates while on vacation? Highly recommend.

And I know French food since I lived nine years in Paris.! If you want a pretty dining room with drinks go but IF you have any issues with Heavy food I don't recommend it!

The "petit" portions and prices here are out of control and should be an embarrassment. As an example: The family next to us was a great example of starving children--first world edition. I was thinking about augmenting my salmon dish with another dish, just in case I got hungry, but when the crêpe arrived to the table next to us, the young boy looked disappointed. It was tiny and apparently they are not made fresh because when I asked they said they only had one more. How does one run out of crepes? Maybe no more bananas or Nutella? After he finished eating it, he was scraping every sign of Nutella drizzle from his plate, and then I heard him say what I think all of us were feeling. "Mom, I'm still hungry" with which his mom asked the server for something else, and meanwhile, my husband and I looked at each other and smirked in accord. Our dishes (shown) were about $18 each and we did leave dissatisfied and still hungry. The quality of the food was very good, but two shrimp tacos with barely anything inside them was literally shameful and shocking, and my husband who had low blood sugar was hoping this would help but it did nothing. The place is undoubtedly charming, the servers wonderful and accommodating, but the food on a Sunday brunch needs to be reviewed, and attention must be paid to the fact that brunches are usually the first meal of the day for many, and with that people expect something substantial to kick off the day until dinner. Add another taco. And don't let us ask for more bread or another meal for another $18. It doesn't fly. If you want a hearty brunch I suggest another restaurant.

We had the squash bread with apple jam and the bone marrow + steak tartare as starters. Both were so good, especially the steak tartare that just tasted so clean and fresh, pairing nicely with the richness of the bone marrow. It came with these little potato slices that were scooped out to provide a perfect vehicle for the marrow/tartare. My partner had the carrot tart tartin, which he loved, and my scallops with morel mushrooms were perfectly cooked, with the hazelnuts providing such a nice texture. He enjoyed his phony negroni (they also had other NA options, including other mocktails, an NA beer, and an NA Riesling) and I really liked my Good Shepherd cocktail, their unique take on a dirty martini. We were too full for dessert, unfortunately. The service was great - attentive and friendly, but it felt like we were able to take our time and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed, even though the place was busy. It is definitely on the pricier side and I would recommend reservations as the place was pretty full, but I would absolutely recommend this spot for a delicious, quality meal in Rhinebeck!

The service was five-star, and the food--though expensive--was delicious and very satisfying. We skipped dessert, but I'm sure it would have been equally on par. All in all, this place was a welcome escape from the chaos, blaring music, and flip-flop, T-shirt crowd across the street at what was once a pretty good establishment 25 years ago.
