Krave Cheesesteaks has had a lot of good buzz from the CT Foodie, Blogger and Instagram Community. I was recently able to visit for lunch. I live in the Hartford area, Krave certainly has one of the better cheesesteaks within a reasonable driving distance. The seating area has two person tables. They were both full most of the time I was there. Luckily, one was opening up as my cheesesteak was done and I was able to eat there. They could fit one more 2 person table there, and that seems like a good idea from what I saw. Service was friendly. I ordered a cheesesteak, which automatically comes with onions, Cherry peppers, whiz and American Cheese. I added sweet peppers, mushrooms, Mamba Sauce (described as a sweet hot sauce) and mayo. The steak was obviously fresh. It was maybe cut a bit thicker and coarser than many places. My preference would be a touch thinner. I also could have used a bit more seasoning on the steak itself. I was looking forward to the cherry pepper flavor, but it didn't stand out. I wonder if they misunderstood and substituted the sweet peppers for the cherry peppers instead of including both. The bread was about average for a cheesesteak. I think there's an opportunity to level up there. The other toppings were generally good. I've heard good things about the "salmon steak" and the "shrimp steak". I'll possibly be back to try the shrimp steak at some point. 4.25 Stars read more

I'm super hesitant when it comes to trying any kind of Philly cheesesteaks but finally decided to give Krave a shot! It officially opened in the Meriden area back in April of 2024. I felt like the service overall was regular, nothing crazy. The ambiance seemed friendly & it's mostly a take out spot, as the seating is minimal. Ordered the regular Philly cheesesteak, came out steaming, & cheesy. Had really good flavor, very nice. The other cheesesteak ordered, was the chicken one. I felt this one was also flavorful & had a slight sweet taste to it. In my opinion, this one could've been slightly hotter. Overall both great choices & the bread was the perfect bed for either one, sturdy. I had some leftover for lunch the next day and it still tasted good. I love me a good cheese fries! My daughter wanted to tryout Krave Cheesesteaks so we decided to try them out while we were out and about. The establishment is small with a few chairs and we were greeted immediately upon entering. We ordered a Steak and Cheese, my son ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak, and we ordered a side of French Fries. The food came out in about fifteen minutes and the food was fresh and piping hot. The Steak and Cheese was very moist, flavorful, and stuffed with Steak. The Chicken Cheesesteak was delicious also. The chicken was cooked just right and they also put sauce on the Chicken Cheesesteak called Mambo Sauce which was out of this world. They really need to bottle that sauce up. The store front stated that they serve Chicken Wings but when I asked, they said they didn't serve Chicken Wings. It would be a good idea to put that Mambo Sauce on Chicken Wings because I believe they would be a best seller. The customer service was great as the staff were really outgoing, helpful, and friendly. I would definitely make another trip to Krave Cheesesteaks. read more

Man this place is the best. Whatever you want however you want it! The kitchen is open so you can see what you get made fresh. I mixed a chicken cheesesteak and added jerk shrimp. The place is small, and there are only two little tables, so if you happen to go when it's busy, you are not going to get one of those. But they do a great takeout business and I love the food! I have tried the Philly cheesesteak, the chicken cheesesteak, the salmon cheesesteak, and the shrimp cheesesteak! I even tried one on loaded fries, and I couldn't even stop myself from eating them, and I am absolutely not a fry girl but these were delicious. We visited one time just to try their wings after they were added to the menu, and they were good, but this is not a wing spot, this is a cheesesteak spot! If you want wings and a cheesesteak, go for it, but if you only want wings, this wouldn't be my first pick. But if you want a cheesesteak with any of those four proteins I mentioned? We stopped by to Krave today after getting a rave recommendation from our fellow foodies and it did not disappoint. The staff was lovely. The cheesesteaks were really good. The cheesesteaks are made with thinly sliced real shaved steak, not processed chopped "steak" they are served with onions and hot peppers, you can customize your sandwich with or without the toppings. The sandwiches are the size of my forearm for $15 packeeed with meat and the seasoning is on POINT!!! My boyfriend said that you can miss this easily if you're driving by but that it is a smaller restaurant. There are 2 tables to sit inside and people mostly order and go. The menu is extremely small but maybe that's why the quality is so good. 4 different options: Philly cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak, shrimp jerk cheesesteak and salmon jerk cheesesteak. Toppings are limited there are onions, hot cherry peppers, American cheese and cheese wiz. I got the Philly with onions and both cheeses. Delicious!! And the roll was nice and soft. It may be better than one from Genos in Philly! The Jerk shrimp and French fries are also AMAZING! I like this place, they are good. I seen some areas that are Oppertunities to improve and I'm sure they will. I asked for American cheese and I'm not sure that's what was on my cheese steak. The steak is good quality and the bread is soft. Person at the counter was nice. One Pet-peeve I have with alllllll food spots is people not changing their gloves. One side fluffed his hair with the gloves on and didn't change them. However he didn't visibly touch any of the food. Well, after seeing so much about this place on social media I had to go see what it is about. Here's my honest opinion. ONE OF THE BEST PHILLIES IVE HAD IN A LOOOOOONG TIME!!! 1.Wait time wasn't long. 2. Meat quality was legit. Definitely can tell its top quality Ribeye. 3. Seasoning was perfect and the peppers give it that extra flare. 4. Bread was good because I picked up my sandwiches and drove all the way back to Newington and it held up during the long drive. 5. The owner has done Philly justice with these delicious, authentic cheesesteaks. Its a small place, so it is mostly takeout. When you come in there is someone there at the register greeting you. Everyone is friendly and has a great attitude. I got the regular cheesesteak and my sister got the salmon cheesesteak. Lady wouldn't take anyones order because apparently the owner changed the password on the computer and she couldn't process payments. During this time you would think that they would ask what you'd like so while we are waiting on the owner to call back with password they could start cooking. Nope. At 12:29 I placed the order and then waited another 15 minutes only to have them screw it up. My suggestion to you is find another place. It reminds me of Philly so much you don't really find too many places that use cheese, whiz and cherry peppers and honestly this might be the best restaurant to open in Meriden all year. The restaurant was absolutely packed with a line out the door. It's opening day which is not something I've seen in Meriden for a long time my only complaint is that they forgot my fries, but that doesn't really matter because they were delicious anyways even though they came out of a bag which usually is a red flag but these fries were good AF and you could tell that this guy uses high-quality steak unlike Charlie's which literally uses a disgusting meat compressed proscessed sheet or D'Angelo's which uses tough rubbery top round. It looks like these guys use real meat that is tender, juicy and good and if I had to guess I would say it was ribeye anyways, this was a good place and I will definitely be coming back and I might bargain to say that this is the best cheesesteak I've had in CT so far read more
