A friend had recommended The Hideaway for wings a while back. Since then, a number of people mentioned them too. I recently visited. The Hideaway is a cool neighborhood bar. Not fancy. Just functional. I was there on an NFL Sunday. There were lots of regulars. There was good interaction with the staff. I didn't catch her name, but the woman who was the only person working the bar and waiting on the tables was amazing. She was super friendly to everyone. She hustled to meet everyone's needs. It wouldn't surprise me if she is an owner too. It's hard to find people, who aren't owners, who are that committed. I asked for a wing flavor recommendation and she said "Montreal Honey" first. I ordered 6. The wings are part-baked and then finished in a fryer. Good inner and outer texture. The Montreal Seasoning was right on. The Honey didn't have much of a presence either visually or flavor-wise. More was needed to balance the salt from the Montreal Seasoning and to justify the Honey in the name. I tried both the Blue Cheese and the Ranch. I'd recommend the Blue Cheese. I'll definitely return to try more wing flavors. I also ordered a crock of chili, which was full of ground beef and topped with melted cheddar and chopped red onions. The chili was solid. Such a fun local dive bar. We went to catch some March Madness games and it was a great place for it. Service was amazing, the workers were so nice. I loved my flatbread, super crispy crust and the toppings were flavorful. Service was quick, once a drink was done we were soon asked if we wanted another. Such a fun local bar that is cozy inviting and welcoming. My fiancé and I are local to Cromwell and always come in when the grandparents take the babe! Clean kitchen, delicious bar bites, and we love that there is touch tunes (jukebox) and pool! Makes for a quick and fun date night. Love the bartenders and they know us by name. read more

3 and 1/2 stars: Bar food. Pretty good and fairly priced. Sports bar with pool table. Drinks are a bit pricey, but they have a very nice selection of beers and hard liquor. More than the usual bar. The Hideaway Pub & Grill has newly opened in the space previously occupied by The Well. The front area has been reconfigured and remodeled, it is now bright with a new bar to the left and seating to the right. It just seems more open, with a better flow. It's still got a casual pub vibe, just a little brighter and more up to date. We went on day 5 of the soft opening and had a great experience. The bartender/servers Katie and Liana were friendly and quick. The owner Bob came out to chat with us and thank us for coming in. The grand opening will be on Saturday 5/25, at which time the full menu should be rolled out. The prices on the soft rollout menu weren't all accurate - many were lower. For example the cider on tap was $6, not $8. I think the rollout of the full menu should fix any discrepancies. We ordered the classic burger from the soft opening menu, and added bacon. They are very accommodating to add anything you'd like even if not shown on the menu, as long as they have the ingredients. It was charred but juicy, plentiful bacon, on a nice brioche bun. Fries were good, but next time I'll try the sweet potato fries as those are my favorite. We also tried one of the specials - for specials, they had quesadillas, pulled pork sliders, Reuben, BLT, turkey club, and Philly cheesesteak. We ordered the cheesesteak with beer battered onion rings. The o rings were perfect. The steak was plentiful, tender and cheesy perfection! In addition to their draft list, they have several IPAs and domestic beers and ciders in cans, as well as wine and a full bar. There is definitely something for everyone. They will be open 7 days a week, so grab some friends and go check them out and enjoy some delicious food and drinks! read more

This little spot has surprisingly good,fresh food. Amazing burgers too. It has a very home town causal vibe. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. The chef takes pride in his dishes. I have had the caprese salad and a side salad, both delicious and quick. They also share their wifi if you need it. read more

Can't say enough positive things about this favorite place- friendly and welcoming smart staff, from the awesome owner Bob to amazing bartenders Sophia, Liahna, and Sean, that do it all!! Don't hesitate to order a fresh scratch martini, and don't expect average bar food. The kitchen serves sought after food from jumbo wings with a multitude of delicious flavors (haven't had a bad one yet), smash burgers, flat breads- but also creative grilled salads, and great affordable specials during the week. Neighborhood local friendly feel with pool table and darts and touch tunes music. It's a fun melting pot of ages from young to silver. Just a good time whether quiet or busy. Popped in on a Saturday afternoon for a snack after hiking nearby - what a difference from the Well !!! We had the fried pickles which were great and the sliders - 4 come in an order, not 3, which is great when you're sharing with someone. Food was great and hot when it came out - a little of a wait but they are a small place and the food was worth the wait. Really liked it here. Looks new inside like they gutted the place. Beautiful bar. Pool and darts in the back. Bartender was on point. Attentive and quick. On to the food. Honestly the best buffalo chicken egg rolls ever. You can tell they did them by hand. All chicken and a skinny crispy wrapper. I don't like ranch but they added hot sauce to ranch for a dip and it rocked. Followed up w a double smashed burger that was excellent. Get the fries. Skinny like McDonald's but way better. Came here and had the slowest bartender ever, it took 30 min for this guy to put any of my orders in. Was given dirty ice and I was told that the bartenders had cleaned the ice bin (come to find out there was mold growing in the ice bin). Bathrooms were full of pee on the floor and they let just about any customer into the kitchen. I don't know if these customers are sick or have diseases that can cross contaminated into food. Went on a Saturday night. I have been in search of a good burger. My favorite bar stopped making fresh burgers and now use a frozen patty. So I found the Hideaway. It is a bar that serves food. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful to move tables together for our party. The other diners were also helpful in moving their tables together fit our table. My son had the black and blue burger. He really liked it. I had the BYOB. It was very good. Juicy and cooked perfectly. My DIL had the BLT. She said there was plenty of bacon. She really liked the sandwich. My other son had the Caesar Chicken wrap. He was not a fan. He said the chicken was cheap. The sweet potato fries are worth the upgrade. The regular fries were just ok. The chef came out to ask how our food was. That was good to see. Our server Sophia was very sweet. We would go back for a burger and BLT. No chicken. read more

The ambience is very much sports bar like. The food was good and you are given a lot for your money. The service was quick and friendly. I would give it a perfect score but the music was louder than we like it. If we were there for just drinks it would be fine but we were there to enjoy dinner as well read more
