My wife and I happened to be in the immediate area where 4 pizzerias are located within a 1 mile radius of each other at lunch time. Two offer wood fired pizza while the third impresses by offering an inexpensive 2 slice combo that includes a soda. The fourth being Illiano's where once again I forgot how relatively expensive their slices were in the past and likely continue to be though admittedly I neglected to inquire or take note of how much I paid. I requested a pair of cheese slices, NY style according to its website, to go and after paying was ignored by one and all for too many minutes. Although they advertise on their website that a snack in the form of a tiny nugget of pizza would be offered, none was offered to me - boohoo. Finally one of the employees broke away from whatever he had been engaged in, took note of my order of which there was no others and placed the slices in the oven. Shortly thereafter the slices were properly reheated, boxed and handed to me with nary an apology or a smile offered. These were consumed in the car where both of us agreed the crust bordered on being tasteless and the toppings only fractionally better. This location, the owners third, has been in operation since 2008 so obviously they are doing something right though you could not prove it by me. read more

This used to be my go to place to get slices of pizza . This was my third try that ended up terrible.. The slices I received were cold, dry, and did not have a good flavor at all. It was very disappointing as I continue to see if they would make it better, but they haven't. I will not be able to return again unfortunately. read more

Illiano's pizza is a taste of nostalgia for me. When I was in high school, Illiano's was one of the only pizzerias around that offered Mac & Cheese Pizza and my cross country team loved stopping at the Middletown location (Main Street) after a meet. Since then, I've introduced Illiano's to friends and family who also now enjoyed the Mac & Cheese pizza and discovering other new favorites. Having a Illiano's near by in Meriden was a huge plus when we moved to town. Since we are local, we receive coupons in the mail often which is a huge help to get more bang for our buck. We order Illiano's for special occasions or if we really want to treat ourselves. They are a bit pricey especially since we like to order the fun topping gourmet pies. The pizzas that are big crowd pleasers are the Mac & Cheese and Baked Potato. We also order classic Cheese and a meat lover type of pizza. My new favorite is the Dill Pickle Pizza. The crust isn't too thick or too thin. The slices from a large pizza are huge. Once slice could fill me up. The Mac & Cheese pizza has a white cheese sauce, topped with noodles and a blend of cheeses. It's a carb overload, but so good. The Baked Potato pizza has thin slices of potatoes, bacon, ranch, cheese and scallions. The staff offered us a sample slice once and have been ordering it ever since. I've fallen victim to the pickle pizza craze and recently found out they had a Dill Pickle Pizza on the menu. It was very good and will do until the next Big E. It's a white pizza, loaded with pickles, drizzled with ranch and topped with dill seasoning. The best part of Illiano's is that they allow half and half gourmet pizza. For example, we ordered half Dill Pickle Pizza and half Baked Potato. I have yet to dine in for dinner at the restaurant since we typically order takeout, but the place is very cozy. They offer pizza by the slice including their gourmet pies (just like the Middletown locations). There is a refrigerator with sodas and desserts too. I know everyone has their own opinion on pizza, but if you are looking for creative pizzas, give Illiano's a go! read more

I ordered the pasta with garlic & oil. The garlic was burnt and really bitter. Not good. I also ordered 3 grandma slices with onion, mushrooms & anchovy. They just piled on raw onion, mushrooms and anchovy in a pile on top of the slices. Also not good. I also ordered a calzone. I wanted sausage, mushroom and onion. The calzone came, no sauce. Really? Onion was still raw. All in all not the best. I will not be ordering from here again. It was just bad. read more

We have ordered the Grandma Pizza from here several times so this time we were really disappointed in what we received. The pizza usually comes in their square crust and is thick. This time for some reason, they made it on a round pie. The crust was thin and all the sauce and cheese was off, it looks like the crust wasn't able to support it. Solid Italian restaurant in the heart of Meriden. Great pizza selection with some unique combinations including the "Big Mac" pizza. Got takeout for me and the Mrs. that included a sampling of Illiano's pizza selection. Tried a slice of the loaded potato and a "snack" size of their Buffalo chicken pizza. The loaded potato was spectacular. The sour cream base really brought the flavors together. Crust was crisp. Very enjoyable. Buffalo chicken was also solid. For dinner tried the gnocchi w/ meat sauce. Not the best gnocchi I have had but still a solid dish. House made bread was very good and their cannoli and huckleberry cheesecake desserts were divine. Service could not have been better. Counter clerks went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. This has been my go-to for years. The Buffalo chicken is my favorite. However, lately the quality control has gone downhill. Missing sauces, missing pizzas, receiving someone else's order. Just last night I placed a delivery order- 3 pizzas. One was somebody else's. I didn't know until it was too late because my father answered the door. I called and the girl said, "Oh okay that's where it went" so the person who ordered that pizza must have called as well. They offered to bring another pizza to correct it- very nice! I live up the road, maybe 3 min away. It took an hour. That new pizza, as our guests were eating, included a piece of plastic likely from a block or bag of cheese. Good thing she saw it! Ive been to Illinoi's a few times. My friend who Autistic likes the Big Mac pie . I was told they had a new guy making it. It had very and i mean very little hamburger meat. Maybe 2 small marble size pieces a slice. Way to many pickles, big cut up hunks and Ton of lettuce. Over kill with sauce and not much cheese! $26 for basically a Pickle, lettuce mess! Went there today for a quick lunch. Which was anything but quick. My wife, daughter and I only ordered slices and 3 garlic knots. Nothing earth shattering 2 cheese slices, 1 Buffalo chicken slice, 1 BBQ chicken slice and a sliced baked potato slice. The slices should have only taken about 7 minutes to heat up and bring them to us. However it took over 20 minutes. Once they brought them to us the crusts on all the slices were extremely crunchy and over cooked. The Knots were also overcooked. Overall a very disappointing visit today. read more

Like most of the recent reviews on Google and Yelp, the quality of the food is continuing to roll downhill. I've been coming to this location for several years now and the food has always been decent. Normally the meatball subs are steaming hot, packed with ingredients and taste. But now the sauce tastes like Prego, the sub is mostly just bread with a small slice of cheese and the meatballs taste like there were in freezer. Not to mention the subs were both lukewarm. Hopefully the owner will address this issue with the quality of food, but until then im going to have to find somewhere else. read more

It's been a few years since I've been to this place but I can honestly say it's hard for me to me to find another place like it. I've been looking. Illiano's understood me whenever I went in there. I could tell by looking at the menu. Sure I like a normal pepperoni or cheese pizza like every other person but I also enjoy the unique combinations. Chicken and waffle pizza, mashed potatoes on pizza, you get the idea and this place had what I was looking for. Now that I no longer live where this restaurant is located I've been trying to find another one like it. The people were nice and I'm glad they survived 2020. I tried Illiano's for the first time this week since moving to the area. They have a lot of speciality pizzas which I prefer over the regular. I tried the baked potato pizza and bbq chicken. Ok so we live in the pizza capital of the world. You need to have some pizza chops to make it in CT. This place has them. We are staying in an Airbnb while we look for a house. As a small business owner myself I seek out small businesses to spend my money at. If we don't they won't be here when this stupid recession ends. Anyway we found this pizza place near us and now I will travel from wherever we buy a house to here for pizza. We got a Sicilian pie with garlic. Crust - amazing and crunchy, Sauce and cheese - just right! Garlic oh yes loads of it my Tongue is on fire (in a good way). Yup, I'll say this is among the top 5 pizzas I have had in my life! Great pizza! Personally I think its one of the best spot in town! Its small, cozy little place, Not too busy. They will give you a small slice of cheese pizza as a little appetizer! And each table has a some puzzles (not sure how to explain them). The pizzas are pretty good! I normally am very basic but this time I decided to try the Big Mac pizza and it was great! Id def recommended if you feel like trying something different. The Big mac is topped off with cheese (lots of it also not sure what type), the big mac sauce, lots of lettuce, and onions. I came here with my family to order some great tasting Italian food, based on some good previous reviews. Now I don't normally post anything bad about a place unless the experience was horrid, and unfortunately this is one of those days. No doubt this place has some great tasting pizza, but my food was not the best tasting food. If your planning to sit down and eat I would suggest to take it home you'll enjoy the experience better. We had a large party but they can only accommodate one large party at a time max of 10 from what we noticed. We were offered to sit at different tables near each other and that was OK. When we were brought to our seats we had no menus. The waitress took care of the larger party to get them out the door but failed to give us menus when we sat down, so that we can view what's on the menu while we waited. After waiting for over 10 minutes and asked about what we wanted to drink, we choose what we wanted based on guesses of what they had since there was no menus in front of us! We then decided to grab our own menus from the other tables. Apparently I must have grabbed a to-go menu since the waitress mentioned that the items on that menu differed from the sit down table menu. Not sure why... As we are placing our orders keep in mind we have a party of 11 with 7 kids under the age of 12, I asked if they have kid size portions for some of the food. The waitress asks if we wanted view the kids menus. At this point I was ready to lose it because don't you think it would be obvious that a party of 11 people with 7 of them being kids under the age of 12 would want to have the kids menus?? Not just for the food but also to keep them occupied with coloring, and we had already figured out what we wanted and now we had to revise the options for the kids since there was different items listed in the kids menu. When we got our food the pizza tasted great! When I got my made to order salad which was nice and big, with 3 large pieces of with grilled chicken, the chicken was very dry like as if it was microwaved definitely not fresh. It was hard to cut into it, and it was very dry inside, which is not how a grilled chicken is suppose to be. I still ate it since I was starving at this point. The sit down experience for me was not a good first impression for me to go back for sit down service. The place was not busy at all we were the only ones in there since the last larger party left, but maybe the waitress was new, so I hoping this would be a good learning experience. Illianos is a place where you can get a NY style pie with everything (the special) or a classic Meriden dish like the Verodolini pizza ... an old school recipe form a classic pizza restaurant. I sometimes will drive 30 Minutes, and three towns over to get a pizza and bring it back to the family. It's that good. Literally the worst steak and cheese grinder I've ever had. The cheese was burnt and black at the same time. The steak was burnt, no flavor, couldn't even taste the peppers and onions. And to top it all off, the sesame seed grinder roll, perhaps 3 days old, was also burnt and so crunchy. Not good at all. Someone once told me you know a great pizza place if they have a good plain pie with grated cheese. Why? BECAUSE OF THE SAUCE! And that's exactly what these pizzas and pastas have: amazing tomato sauce. I literally grabbed a spoon to eat it out of my chicken parm dish! I lived in southington and Meriden for a total of 15 years . The last 2 years my cousin and I frequently ordered take . We love your pizza I am very partial to the spinach artichoke it's one of my favorites. We also are hooked on your Meatballs ricotta and roasted red pepper grinder or pizza . Everyone is super nice friendly the Italian ice and gelato was always a part of our orders .. I also love all your soups. Basically you really can't go wrong they will make whatever you like .. So go enough great take out or a nice eat in meal ... PS I don't remember her name but their is the sweetest girl that bakes some of the desserts in house that are to die for .. I was not feeling great I wanted a pice if this amazing strawberry cake and my sister came out to tell me that they were out . Well she told me she made the cake and had an Oreo cake I might like . So I said I would try it. It was very good a little heavy for me but she is an amazing baker.. All of the desserts are good but find out what she makes that day ..
