    Chili cheese fries

I had to try Saints before voting in best hot dog in CT contest. I went for chili dog and had to sample chili cheese fries. Both were very good with subtle peppery heat in chili. The restaurant had diner feel with counter and booth seating. Televisions on to keep you entertained while you wait. I noted takeout was busy and brisk activity. Service was prompt with my takeout order. They offer breakfast menu as well. I will return for sure. Good luck in contest

    10" Hot Dog

Came here was it was declared a "famous" destination. Was left disappointed. Firstly, they moved everything to QR code menus, meaning you had to ask for a physical one. The famous hotdogs were a letdown --although fairly cheap at ~$5- and small; marketed at 10", see the image below for the actual volume of the hotdogs, which were very skinny. That was the cheapest thing on the menu, with a side of small fries nearly $8 and the smaller counterpart being ~$7. This menu is way overpriced. The service was alright, although we almost got skimped on the fries by the cook staff (saw the waitress ask to fill it up more). The staff were decent, although a bit short. The atmosphere was nice, had bar style dining and booths. Made you feel like an old fashioned diner. However, wasn't worth the price. If you want to come here for the "experience," save your time and money as this will leave you disappointed!

The wife and I stopped here for a quick lunch. We were able to sit at a spacious booth right away. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who brought us menus as she explained that while the menu items are the same the prices have increased slightly. We knew we wanted the famous Saint's Hot Dogs but it was good to go over the rather extensive menu. For a little place, they offer quite a few selections. We both ordered hot dogs with chili and mustard. Mine also had onions. We both order fries. Our dogs were brought over quickly and our fries were combined into one basket. The buns were toasted perfectly, and the dogs were grilled hot and browned. The chili was flavorful, the onions were fresh. The French fries were hot and cooked just the way I like them, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For something as common as the American Hot Dog, these were elevated to a higher level. So far these are my second favorite dogs. It should go without saying that we will be back but I guess I just said it anyway. Can't wait for another day of errands so that we could stop here for lunch.

Saint's is one of those places that every home town should have. One of those restaurants where nothing changes. I've been eating here for almost 30 years and it's still the same. Good quality food, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. The place is always clean. What more can you want in a home town restaurant.

Yelp friend and comrade in chili dogs Kara S. recommended not long ago that I try Saint's in Southington. Today I did. Saint's has long been on my radar since it's across the street from Kettle Bagels. I know it's a Southington, CT institution. In addition to hot dogs, they serve things such as chicken, fried seafood, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, BBQ and fries. Saint's uses Martin Rosol dogs, which is one of my favorites. Saint's version of these hot dogs is long and extends off the bun an inch or two in each direction. At least one other prominent place in the area does that, but I prefer to get some bun with each bite. The hot dog was very well cooked and the bun was well grilled. Those parts of the hot dog were great for me. I ordered it with chili, mustard and onions. The chili sauce was decent, but I prefer a meatier chili sauce and the seasoning blend isn't one of my favorites in the area. In any event, Saint's has a good chili dog and it's worth checking out if you're in the area. Four Stars.

We go for 2 reasons: 1. Their hot dogs are delish! 2. So is their breakfast. Hands down best egg, cheese and kielbasa on a hard roll!!

Ask the Community - Saint's Restaurant & Catering

We've been going to Saints for years and have always enjoyed their hot dogs. I believe they are Martin Rossells. We went in January and after the first bite, we ALL noticed a difference. We were wondering if you changed vendors or brands?

As the current "Duke" of Saints I'll quote the owner, "We've had the same hot dogs for 53 years" And I'll agree. I eat them quite frequently. They are so consistent.

We couldn't wait to come back. Several months later on our second visit, we arrived well before their posted closing time - 9pm. It was around 7:45pm, the lights were on, but the door was locked and the staff seemed to be cleaning up. One of them looked up, saw us standing at the door and then went back to doing whatever they were doing without bothering to engage with us. It was incredibly frustrating having driven almost an hour with the expectation of getting some delicious food, only to be ignored by staff at a time when they were supposed to be open. Many months later (giving them the benefit of the doubt that the early closure on our last visit was a fluke) we made the trip up again. We arrived to find the place was locked up and dark - again during a time when they were supposed to be open. Today I was with some friends and we stopped to have lunch at Smokin' With Chris next door. During our meal, I mentioned my past experiences with The Lab, but also said how good the food was. So, we walked over to look at the menu and possibly pick up dinner for later that evening. It was around 1:30pm, the lights were off and the door was locked. I double-checked their website, and they were supposed to be open at 11:30am. While I was on my phone, an employee came up, unlocked the door, turned on the lights and began his shift - two full hours after they were supposed to be open! WTF?! Apparently, the owners of The Lab seem to believe that their food is so epic that they can just operate their business whenever they like regardless of their posted hours. This total lack of consideration for their customers is beyond insulting. It's really too bad because the food is good, but not good enough to offset the unprofessional manner the owners are running (or in this case, not running) this place. There are way too many other great dining options available nearby that actually adhere to their posted hours to put up with this nonsense.

We were a party of 10 (reservation made 2 weeks earlier) and had to be sat at two different tables. Next to each other, but not connected. When I made the reservation, I told them my dad was handicapped and in a wheelchair. If they couldn't accommodate a party of 10 at 1 table, they should have said so. Now, the table situation was manageable and we had a cohesive experience, but why did we have 2 servers for 2 tables when we were 1 party? The server the table I was at was Ryan (I hope I'm right). He was amazing. My mom wanted to pay the bill for both tables and not only did he make that happen; he explained the gratuity was already included and walked her through the toast machine and never once suggested she leave an extra tip. Truly honorable.

My sons and I are in search for hidden wing gems throughout the state. Yes, we love J.Tim's,…read moreappreciate the local flair of O-Joe's (both locations), and even admire the smoked wings in an around Torrington. Someone gave me the tip to try these as he thought they would "compete" with the aforementioned. For the first 5 min of my visit, I thought it might be the case. Here are the reasons to ABSOLUTELY GO!!!!! Even if a 30-45 min drive. 1) SERVICE - simply fantastic. Huge thanks to Destiny and the kitchen for making my experience great. 2) ATMOSPHERE - THIS IS the place I want to come to watch the games, for the long haul in the fall or playoff time! Great lighting. Music gives way to the game. Locals. Golf and bowling games. You name it. Fantastic. 3) THEIR BLUE CHEESE - unique. Delicious. Clearly house made. Makes the wing experience better. Here are the reasons I would only go if convenient: 1) THE FOOD - My chili to start only said beef chili on the menu. On first bite, there was a stinging salty taste of BACON. I have no problem eating bacon, but should say it on the menu for those who do not. And, that flavor profile is not what chili evokes. 2) THE WINGS - when the blue cheese and veggies came out, I was almost hyperventilating with excitement. The wings then came. Huge let down. Without going into the subtleties of the sauces, I'm more focused on deciding if they were frozen-pre-breaded wings or fresh wings with a salty/shake and bake coating on them. They're huge. They're crispy (kitchen is good). They're just not a traditional wing (should also say coated on the menu). 3) THEIR OIL - one of my wings was a delicious lemon pepper dry rub. So much promise. So crispy. Then, the flavor transfer hit. They must have fried fish on the menu. Same/old fry oil So my wings without a sauce (dry rub) tasted faintly of fried cod. Gross. I will go back. I liked the staff and feel enough. It could be fun. But it's not the hidden wing Mecca I will continue to search for. Service, feel, blue cheese earn all the stars.

A friend of mine and I went to Craft Kitchen for lunch on this Thursday…read more There was plenty of parking to the right of the restaurant, and the side entrance was right there. As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...
