I've been to Kravitz many times over the years. Lunch time used to be difficult because the wait was too long if you had to return to work. The staff wasn't friendly then. Today I saw a new attitude and faster service. Friendly staff and much less wait time even though it was very busy. The food has always been very good and that hasn't changed. So I can definitely recommend going there! Was also glad to see they have blueberry bagels since DD no longer makes them. Good to know for my next bagel run. read more

"Corned beef" - Jack Kravitz We stopped in here for a Sunday early breakfast because of the good Yelp reviews. We are on a summer road trip during our move from Boston to Vancouver, and needed some good eats. We were not disappointed. We got a chance to talk with Jack himself, who told us about his own Pacific Northwest connections: a daughter living in Seattle, and a "gay Buddhist formerly Jewish monk cousin" living in Vancouver. Pretty awesome. Jack served us up some spectacular potato hash with peppahs and onions, as we'll as a delish Everything bagel with turkey pastrami. Both were out of this world. So, to be fare I am not comparing this place to other local places. I am not from the area so this may be Ritz Carlton of Deli' around here. But.... First, I like the inside. it is very humble, but warm. The staff is okay. Not very engaging but they did not slap me, so that is always a good thing. Took our order and brought our food, nothing more, nothing less. Their Bagels are fantastic, but I am not sure if they make them themselves or not. Okay, okay...on to business. We went for the corned beef. I was thinking about the hash but asked if were more meat or potato. Very dryly she responded, potato. So off to the hash omelet. I have had these at many places. So I am expecting a folded omelet filled with corned beef (the meat) and some cheese. I get a round, thin scrambled egg with some corned beef sprinkled in. It was a horrible experience and that dish should be removed from the menu. It insulted omelets and corned beef all over America. Well... I brought my son here because I was in the mood for a corned beef sandwich and I see their ads everywhere. I love a good corned beef but they are hard to find. Let me say that Kravitz knows how to make a sandwich!! I ordered "the northside" which is a corned beef on rye, with swiss and slaw (of course I got the extra large version). Wow! The sandwich was huge (not as big as their ads, but huge none the less). It was loaded with homemade, thin sliced corned beef just the way I like it. My son ordered the Deb's turkey. He couldn't finish so I helped myself to the rest of his. It was also very tasty. I will definitely be back. I guess my only complaint is that the sandwiches are pricey. Mine was almost $10. On our cross country road trip this deli was a delightful stop. I had the pick two option (soup and a mini sandwich) of clam chowder and a mini pastrami (I added pepper jack and hot peppers), both were delicious. I also had a Bloody Mary which was nice and spicy. The women behind the counter were kind and attentive and the owner himself, Jack Kravitz, sat and chatted with us for a while. He was affable and hospitable. Even the regulars were nice! Glad I followed my yelping nose to this true kosher location. The jack is back was big and delicious, the bread was amazing - kaiser roll with caraway seeds and sea salt. The pick two special - half tuna sandwich on toasted rye (tuna, dressing, minced celery, dill and eggs) with red onions and tomato and a mushroom barley soup, the soup here has made it to my top 5 shroom/barley list, it was perfect, the sandwich was good too. Took a gyro & tuna sandwich to go since I'm unsure when the next time I'll be in Ohio. Also took some bakery goods to go - the walnut and maple and peanut butter cookies were amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We came to Kravitz by chance two years ago while meeting family in town (just happened to be where we met in the middle). Fast forward two years. Well, the past experience stuck with us so much that during this trip, going back to Kravitz was pretty much our main event. We spent hours chatting and eating. And I can say that, again, they did not disappoint! Always courteous and friendly, the staff were all helpful and efficient. They never hurried us or made us feel unwelcome. This is one of those places you will really regret leaving behind when you move out of the area. People have been eating their bagels at home and in the restaurant for generations... quite literally. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't drop in at least once for the experience. This is what a deli is supposed to be. It's counters and it's cases of meats and baked goods, specialty goods and a bunch of fresh bagels. Still run by the original Kravitz family. We can't find places like this hardly anywhere, certainly not small cities, so go in, have a corned beef on rye, or a bowl of chicken soup. Yes it's a Jewish deli but they have great Italian wedding soup. Prices are great for what you get. But it's the taste that makes this a special place. read more

Since relocating to the area a year ago I'd been hoping to stumble across a place like this. Doesn't disappoint. Great food and great people. Breakfast was terrific. The corned beef hash was served bowl-style. Not the typical chopped up, mushy variety. Kravitz layers meat over potatoes for a different take. A little light on seasoning but great none-the-less. The pastry and baked goods are conveniently next to the register so it was impossible to pass up a raisin and a prune tidbit. If they made egg bagels, they would have all my favorites. Tip: For all of my non pork eaters this is a fantastic place to eat without worrying...Great breakfast! This is my go to spot when I want a great omelette. I have a few notes here. 1. There isn't much competition in the Youngstown-Warren area, unfortunately. 2. It's a bit pricey, but considering the value/quantity you get, it's a great deal. All of it. 3. Very nice people. The only "complaint" I would have is that I live in Warren, and Kravitz is half an hour away. I give it 5 stars because I find the food legitimately good and the people legitimately nice and courteous. I'd give it 4, but I can't blame Kravitz for being the only deli around. The only one I can compare it to is "Jake's" in downtown Cleveland, right by Tower City, which is-in my opinion- high praise. I see people complain about the meats (specifically the corned beef) being "salty", but what do you expect from cured meats? Are you serious? (Also, that's not sodium, that's delicious goodness invading your soul) They've never advertised as being the healthiest option out there, although they do offer healthy options on the menu. Needless to say, if there was a Kravitz in Warren, I'd have gout by the time I was 30. Their food is delicious. Only wish I could be there more often. Their cheesy potato soup is delicious. Came to Youngstown on business and ate here 3 days straight. The "Jack Takes Over" is a hearty pastrami sandwich that won me over on the first bite. The Reuben is what they're known for and that was delicious as well. I spoke with Jack (owner and founder's son) on two of the occasions as he made/delivered the food and made rounds to guests.
