Very pleasant staff members. I placed my order of a Super Sub at the counter and it was ready in 5 minutes. It was accurately prepared according to my instructions and tasted great! This place has completely gone downhill in the last few years. Staff just doesn't care, serves cold fried food, and doesn't clean the dining room. The tables were all dirty when we came in for dinner around 5:30, and no one was even dining in at the time. Every experience here is worst than the last. Depends on who is working. Go during lunch hours and the women working will give you a great sandwich, when the mgrs leave , you get skimpy sandwiches!!!. I love subs. I've come to the very sad realization that over the last few decades, I've been spoiled by the magnificent subs that Publix makes and that aren't available to me right now. Publix is a regional/southern grocery store chain that I really really really miss. The irony here isn't lost on me;' while growing up in Boardman, I had my first sub at the Sandwich Factory on Market Street, and I thought it was divine. And then I moved to the south. Ah, Publix. I've been back in the Ytown area for a short while, and I was excited to return to where it all began for me, at the Sandwich Factory. I got the cold roast beef and Swiss sub; it came with lettuce, onion, oil and vinegar. Apparently tomatoes are extra/have to be requested. Tomatoes are a must. If there were onions in there, they were flavorless slivers. I tasted absolutely NO vinegar. They were stingy with the roast beef, and the Swiss cheese was as flavorless as the onions. The bread was shocking. It was very dense and had a strong yeast flavor; the flavor of the bread managed to take over the sub, and that's not a good thing. It was so filling, so dense, and so overpowering that I scraped the contents off the bread and into a bowl to be able to eat it. A lighter bread is needed. Really really really needed. I don't want a little filling with my bread, which is what I ended up with; I want some lighter, pleasant bread to contain epic contents. I didn't get my money's worth. I tried an order of fried mushrooms. By "order" I mean that I got seven (yes, seven) soggy, greasy mushrooms for $4.00. I also tried an order of fries. They were limp and greasy, but the flavor was there. They were also plentiful. Will I go back? Probably not. And that makes me sad. read more

This place has gone horribly down hill. The only good redeeming quality is has is that the sandwich is great. On our latest trip, we ordered a giant sub and fries to share. We waited over 25 minutes for our food. Our fries had been left out, so they were cold. Luckily we dined in so we could send them back for fresh ones. We won't be returning. And in that case please give me their address so I can go toooooooo. What to get: Assorted Sub. What not to get: Workers Comp... this is not that sort of factory. Sorry. Youngstown isn't really a food mecca, unlike the Pitt, Akron, Columbus and especially Cleveland areas nearby. There are a few little gems though, such as Plaza Donuts, Papa's Puerto Rican, Jimmy's Sandwiches, and the wonderful Handel's Franchises which were born here. Also on that list is this wonderful hearty sub shop. In such an industrial, blue collar area, it makes sense that the best sub shop would be known as "The Sandwich Factory." They told me to get the assorted and they were absolutely right. It's a tasty, delicious 5-star sandwich, and the prices here are excellent too. Good-size, filling portions and really lovely service. Very popular with the locals and a loyal clientele. If you're in Youngstown and you get your sandwiches from Subway instead of this place or Jimmy's up north, then you're committing a cardinal sin in my humble, not so humble Yelpy opinion. The rare 5-star rating (alright, maybe not so rare, but I'm trying to be pickier). This place deserves it. You won't find a better sub sandwich than at this Sandwich Factory. This is one of a chain that used to number more than 10 but has dwindled. What you must try: 1) The Ribeye Steak with peppers/onions/mushrooms/provolone/lettuce This is top quality, lean meat, shredded and grill-cooked. It fills an 8-inch Pesce roll (if you know good bread, you know Pesce). The toppings are your choice, but the listed, plus mustard and/or mayo will please. 2) Meatball. Just damn good, make sure you add Provolone. 3) Reuben. I make mine at home just like they do. Killer. You must try this even if you think you don't like reubens. If you've never had a reuben, try one here. 4) Hot sausage. Not hot, just super tender, slightly spicy and all good. 5) Super Sub (#7). Like all the cold subs, it comes in two sizes, half and giant. Right, half is a meal, giant is a trip to the gym the next morning to ease the guilt. Standard toppings are lettuce, onion, and oil and vinegar. Have them add tomato and extra o/v. Oh, it has turkey, ham, salami and provolone (or your choice of cheese). Finally, it's been a long time, but the fried cheese, wing-dings (w/hot sauce) and chef salad were good when tried at other Sandwich Factory's. Here's the best reason to listen to my review. Grew up with this place. Lived in Philly for 20 years after. Would you believe their cheesesteak is better than anything silly last offer? that's not just nostalgia speaking. Not me. Not a fan of Capriotti's or Jersey Mike's although they are the next comparable to SF. I'm a plain and simple girl so lettuce, onions oil and vinegar do me just fine. Half #4 (ham, salami and provolone) oil/vinegar on the side and extra onions plz. Yes I said extra onions. E is in Vegas so not kissing anyone :) Best simple sandwich and a half is equivalent to Subway's 12 inch for a fraction of the cost. I used to always get the fried veggies but didn't this time. I've been going here since I was kid. Each time I'm in the area, this place is on my list. Aside from the sandwiches which are delicious, I recommend the fried cheese and sauce and fried wing dings. The Boardman sandwich factory on market street has the worst customer service I have ever seen. They seemed annoyed we came in 40 minutes Before they closed. They said the grill was closing in 5 minutes, the girl cleaning the tables kept slamming the door when she went to come out and seen we were still there, ran the sweeper while we were trying to eat, then a man came to us at a few minutes till 9 to ask if we were almost done because they were closing even though they were still cleaning up. So we threw out the rest of our food and left. They were also screwing around when we walked in and obviously didn't plan on serving any more customers as all the food was bring out away. I have moved away from Youngstown but one of the few places I make sure to visit each time I am town is a Sandwich Factory. I definitely prefer the Boardman location because it's the original to me but any I've been to are comparable. I have been wanting a good sub lately and nothing will be good enough because they don't have a sandwich factory in Dallas, TX. Why they are the best: 1. They have good prices. 2. Their half sub is plenty of food. 3. Their bread is never stale and doesn't make up the majority of the sandwich. 4. They put more meat and cheese on a sub than anywhere else that I've had. My favorite: turkey and provolone on white with no onions or oil I've had others but the turkey and cheese is so good so I don't tend to get anything else. Their french fries are also amazing but they don't have sizes and they give you A TON! I only get them if someone agrees to share them with me. Go try it out! read more

I recently moved to Canfield from Denver and have been looking for a great sandwich place, that search is now over. The restaurant is clean, the ingredient are fresh, and the staff is very friendly. I recommend the Reuben, one of the best I've had. The rye taste like rye and the corn beef melts in your mouth. At the Boardman location the cashier sneezed several times without covering her nose except for her shirt. She then proceeded to make sandwiches and sneezed on the food. She did not even attempt to turn her head or cover her face. The cashier touched the money and then the food without washing her hands. This is poor practice at any time. read more

When the hell did they replace the meatball patties with meatballs? The only reason I would stop in when visiting home would be to get a half a 9 with provolone, because they had burger sized meatball patties. Used to love this place. However, over the last couple years, the food and (mostly) service has went way down. Trying to come 30-40 minutes before closing means you cannot get a hot sandwich, like a Reuben or Ribeye, or Sausage. They even shut lights off early. I noticed the man with the hair bun and glasses was working in the middle where cold subs are made as well as helping at counter and also so him cooking in the back. I grew up on Sandwhich factory and I love it! The lunch meat is always fresh and cut right in front of you. The sub buns are also always fresh. I was just there last week and it was great as always. I also particularyly like how they support The Boardman Dog Park!!! I think it's really important to have something like that in our area and it shows that they trully care about local events and causes to better the city! On occasion I have had an order screwed up but this happens anywhere you go, mistakes happen and it doesn't happen very often at Sandwhich Factory. Last week for lunch I got The Giant Italian Special! Of course the Giants are huge and I got it knowing I'd have plently left over for later, even the half subs are a big size, way better then subway! read more
