One of my favorite places to spend time with my kids! The…read moreSpringhouse is many things. A delicious restaurant, a fantastic market, a dairy that makes phenomenal milk and a place for amazing events like the fall festival and events with Santa. They even have special events where groups (and often the general public) can sign up for a tour where you get to learn about their dairy operations and even milk a cow! When you visit in the fall, they have a lot of great themed decorations (as well as activities that you can pay to be a part of). But you can enjoy the festive vibes and decor without doing the whole experience if you are short on time or cash. Their food is delicious! The best way to describe it is homemade comfort food! The friendly staff is knowledgeable and will answer any questions you might have about what certain things are or about ingredients. You can also eat fairly affordably, especially for the portion sizes and homemade, quality ingredients. The shop has a variety of souvenir type items (shirts, magnets, mugs, stuffed animals) but also local products like cheese and candy. They also have bakery items and tasty ice cream. Worth a trip for a delicious meal and fun farm experience!

The market sells a variety of foods and beverages from the family business as well as from other local businesses. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catering. My husband and I shopped in the market one time. We saw milks, cheeses, deli meats, salads, baked goods, canned goods, ice creams, candies, and much more. So many delicious foods! We were away from home and had just eaten at another restaurant, so we purchased only two small things--a brookie (a chocolate-chip cookie with a brownie inside) and a small cherry pie. The total price was $11. On the next day, we ate the brookie and the cherry pie at home. They tasted pretty good. Now I feel interested in trying more of their foods and doing a tour of their farm...

So the larger your group is, the harder it will be for you to get a table. Parking can get tricky too. My own gaggle of friends has learned to carpool, and we accept that we won't always be seated directly together. Like any good diner, Dog House's menu has plenty of breakfast options, along with burgers and sandwiches. The menu is simple but solid, and the prices are reasonable. The French toast is my bestie's favorite, and I can confirm that their burgers and Belgian waffle are also quite good. Most recently I ordered the Chicken & Waffles; it was tasty, but I admittedly wish it came with more syrup. Also wouldn't have been upset if it came with one more tender since they were on the smaller side. The staff are very nice and they clearly work as quickly as possible. Of course, their speed is always dependent on how busy the diner is overall. I'll echo other reviewers saying that if you go in expecting to eat at a small town diner, you won't be disappointed. And my recommendation is to order a breakfast item or a burger to get the whole small town diner experience!

We stopped in around 3 on a Wednesday afternoon, with no crowds, and room to walk around the country store. The hostess seated us right away. Our server was Ashley, and while she was friendly, she didn't seem to be concerned about her tables once the food was served. It's nice when a server pops over a few times to make sure things are okay, which is the usual case at other Cracker Barrels, and with other servers we've had here. I ordered the fried catfish with three sides, (turnip greens, fried okra, mashed potatoes with gravy), while my friend ordered the grilled trout with two sides, (broccoli, and steak fries). Both dishes came out cooked well, and my friend was happy with how flavorful her food was. I enjoyed my fried catfish, okra, and turnip greens. The mashed potatoes with gravy were a little dry. The corn muffins were hard, but the biscuits were fine. Overall, we did enjoy our food, service was meh.

Even better this location had no wait and was super quiet! We were seated immediately, our server was the sweetest lady who chatted with us and made sure we were taken care of. Food came out quickly and plentiful, our server made sure we had all the condiments, napkins and straws we needed and topped our drinks off frequently. We had 2 different breakfast plates and a lunch plate with chicken and meatloaf, all amazing! The crisp on the chicken was so good and I don't even eat chicken. Such a great experience and we really appreciated the hospitality of our server, I wish I could remember her name. Hopefully she sees this and remembers the family on a college viewing trip from CA.
