Today (May 10th, Sunday), I went to Regency Movie Theater in Buena Park, Orange County, with my mom…read moreand my two brothers to watch a movie. We went to see The Devil Wears Prada 2. When I checked the movie schedule online last night, I saw an 11:30 AM showtime, so we left early in the morning to make it on time. However, when we got there, we were told that the 11:30 AM showing did not have Korean subtitles. We had driven all the way there specifically so my mom could watch the movie with Korean subtitles, so we had no choice but to buy four tickets for the 1:15 PM showing, which did have Korean subtitles. While we were waiting, we bought nachos there, charged our cell phones, and relaxed for a while and had lunch in that mall. Being able to charge our phones was a huge plus. Also, one of the female employees, who was quite tall, was very kind and told us that there was a seating area toward the back of the theater. Thanks to her, we were able to sit there for a while, charge our phones, and eat our nachos. However, there were two women's restrooms inside the theater. One of them had no hand soap at all. I went and told the female employee, and she asked me, "There's no hand soap at all?" I said there was none at all. She then told me there was another women's restroom on the other side, so I went there, and that restroom did have soap. Before the movie started, I went back to the first restroom because it was closer to the theater, but even after more than two hours, there was still no hand soap at all. I was very disappointed, so I had to go to the restroom that was much farther away from the theater. Overall, this theater has a lot of good points. The staff is friendly, the seats are pretty comfortable, the theater is clean and pleasant, you can charge your cell phone, and parking is free. Also, for older people like my mom who want to enjoy the latest Hollywood movies with Korean subtitles, that is definitely the biggest advantage. However, I do have two suggestions: I hope they maintain the restrooms better. If there is no soap at all in the restroom, it does not seem right that no one refills it for more than two hours. I wish they would provide Korean subtitles for all showtimes. If that is not possible, I hope they clearly indicate on their website which showtimes have Korean subtitles and which ones do not. We came from far away, so it was very disappointing to find out that the 11:30 AM showing did not have Korean subtitles. Because of that, we ended up wasting two hours even though we had driven all the way there specifically for the Korean subtitles.

But get this, he had a parrot on his shoulder. I told him, "Yes they do. Why, are you guys early birds?"... No reaction from my joke. He went on about how he has an early morning routine, and continued to ramble. Anyway, we went in... But weird... In case anyone ever sees this parrot guy in the area. So we came here because the early showings are a pretty amazing option for people who like to avoid crowds. Our movie was empty and the reclining seating was comfortable. The only downside of this location is that it is older with outdated restrooms.

I have visited this Regal location many times over the years and it's sadly has been going downhill…read morefor quite a while now. I'll start with the positives. The theaters themselves are updated and the recliner seats are very comfortable. This location is also not the most crowded, so you don't often have to deal with extremely full theaters. Still, I think it's the lack of crowds that has made them slowly and slowly downgrade the rest of the experience. There is no more box office out front, and there hasn't been for many years. When it's empty, this is not the biggest deal, but if there's any line, you'll be waiting just to purchase your movie ticket. While a lot of theaters have ditched the traditional box office out front, it's still pretty standard for theaters to offer box office lines separate from concessions. To add to this the concession lines are usually only staffed with one person, so just hope it's not busy when you are there. On my latest visit, we entered our theater at the showtime, and were turned away as they still hadn't cleaned the theater. We double checked with the front that we went to the correct theater, and they said they had but for whatever reason they hadn't cleaned it yet. It may not be the biggest issue, but there is no theater I've ever been to where you can't enter at your showtime because they haven't changed it over from the last show. To me, it comes off that they don't care to staff the location adequately, and the overall experience suffers because of this. This is one of the closest movie theaters to me, but lately I've gone out of my way to visit AMC or other locations because the experience here is just below average compared to any other option nearby. I wouldn't recommend regal as a chain nor necessarily this location if you're looking for the best experience.

They recline but not all the way. Since its so small every conversation, every candy wrapper, every recliner echos. If you have sensory issues this is your warning. I repeat $9.00 for a early showing and $12.00 for evenings. Military and law enforcement get a discount. 3.5 rounding up.

The employee who helped me was unbelievably rude from the start. She had a very condescending tone, barely acknowledged me, and just stood there in silence while I was trying to order, like I was inconveniencing her by being a customer. When I tried to show my ticket on the app, she told me to zoom in. I couldn't, so I offered to just read it out loud to make things easier. Instead of working with me, she snapped and raised her voice saying she has a hearing aid. Okay... but how does that justify being aggressive and unhelpful? There was zero patience, zero communication, and just an overall hostile attitude the entire interaction. It honestly felt uncomfortable and unnecessary going in the movie. It's frustrating because the theater itself is perfectly fine, but customer service like that completely kills the experience. I shouldn't feel like I'm bothering someone just to watch a movie. Wouldn't come back unless they seriously improve how they treat customers at the front.

But more importantly, the theater seems stuck in the early 2000s, with outdated seats that don't recline. While the seats are small, that's fine, but the chairs are incredibly worn out, down to the wire, and the leather is peeling off. Surprisingly, the seats were comfortable enough for a three-hour movie, but don't expect anything fancy. On a side note, the previews and commercials are long, lasting about 25 minutes. The bathrooms were decent, but the doors are heavy as you have to pull them to open. The screens or projectors themselves also need to be replaced because the image becomes blurry during bright scenes. Despite these issues, the staff was friendly and efficient, and the theater itself was enjoyable because it wasn't overly crowded or very popular.

We purchased our tickets at the concession stand which was different.. the movie said it started at 5 and we did get there at 5:15 so we asked before purchasing if the movie had actually started yet. The girl said no, we still had 10 mins before the movie actually started so we were like cool! Got the tickets for 2 adults, one small popcorn, and two small icees. The total came to $64. I was honestly shocked but we had busted such a mission to even get there and finally watch our movie that we just said screw it and went to watch our expensive movie. Well we walked in and it was already playing. Based on how long the movie is, about an hour and a half, and how long we actually watched the movie, we missed 30 mins of it at least. Idk WTF happened because the ticket said 5pm. Also, the previews here run for 25 mins. We know because we checked after the movie was over and realized how much we actually missed. So idk if they started that movie early, but there was like a whole 50 mins there where somethin didn't add up. If our movie started at 5, it really shouldn't have started until 5:25-5:30 based on the amount of ads they show. And somehow we missed 30 mins of the actual film by arriving at 5:15??? Make it make sense. The bathrooms were also filthy and the popcorn got us sick. That's on us for going to the nearest place and not looking up reviews first but I do not recommend this theater at all

I've seen the reviews about trash and messy theaters, but I honestly have never experienced that here. Maybe I'm lucky! They recently added mobile ordering for concessions, which has been AWESOME, especially when blockbusters come out and the concession lines are about a mile long. Huge time saver! I do wish they'd add the self-serve soda machines and popcorn butter stations. Maybe someday! :) They also finally got 4DX, which is a really fun addition. 2 stars knocked off for the following: There are always 5 or 6 people behind the concession counter, but somehow only 2 are actually helping customers. When the lines are long, it would be nice for more people to jump on the registers. Especially since the concession lines are now used for people buying tickets too. There's also ONE guy (just the one) who always wants to check inside purses and pockets. It's SO weird because no one else does this. My purse is tiny and holds credit cards and not much esle, so I'm not sure what he's looking for. I don't care if you look inside my purse or wallet... I have nothing to hide, but at least be consistent. Either the entire staff does it or no one does it. I've seen people walk in with bags of WingStop, but you're checking my clutch for what exactly??? Overall, I really like this theater and I'm there all the time. It's not perfect, but I'm always rooting for this place.

If you visited the one in Fullerton, you know that with Costco next to it, it can be very challenging to find parking on the weekends. This one is located on a strip mall and it is a very small theatre. They tend not to offer all the movies and they do not have IMAX or Dolby. Once you walk in there is a person on the stand scanning your tickets and the concession stand is right there. They do have a bar right after the concession stand and they have some claw machines. They only have one set of restrooms which are by the entrance. The theatres are small but comfortable. They have the booths that are a little bit older so they do not recline as much but they do have seat warmers. Some of their seats are showing wear and tear.
