Right now they are doing a fun musical and dance show with a live band. A fun time three times a day in a/c building so good way to beat the heat. Closer to the front and center is better. Because of the type of seats it might be hard for kids or shorter people to be able to seem things especially if someone tall is sitting in front. read more

The performers at a fantastic job and the hosts were great in ushering everyone in. We got to see them do a version of the three wise men that was a short 20 minute performance, but very impactful and told the story well. If you are at Knott's Berry farm, it's worthwhile stopping in to the Birdcage theater to watch a live play. read more

Fun, old timey melodrama theater. Seats are limited, so make sure you come during the theater showings. They also rotate the plays around the year seasonally as well, which is neat for those who go often. It's a small, intimate stage that encourages the audience to participate through cheers, booing, etc. Makes for a fun, unique experience. I went during the Boysenberry Festival, so the play that they had was the "The Great Bank Robbery". It's a bit cheesy and follows a lot of tropes, but nonetheless fun. I loved the references to the other aspects of the park (no spoilers), which was unexpected as well as the funny thing they did with the portrait and lips. I mean this in the best way possible, but it's quite reminscent of the silly plays you'd have in small groups for class. I don't really see that in any capacity anymore in my adult life, so that's quite refreshing and fun. I wouldn't say that this is the best entertainment for iPad addicted children or particularly young children (lots of families left throughout the show), but for the non-cringe ones who like to participate/want this experience, I'm sure they'll enjoy it, probably. I'd come back to see other plays that they hold here. read more

I love this theater because it's an intimate venue and I've only seen/experienced pure joy here. I've seen everything from Elvira to Bob Barker Marionettes perform here and it's always been such a fun time. You definitely have to get here early to guarantee you get a seat, depending on how busy the park is, you may have to lineup as early as an hour before the show starts. I was here during Knott's Merry Farm and thought I could just walk in 5 minutes before showtime and was sadly informed they were full. I went to a later show the next day and again was there about 5 minutes before showtime and because I was one person they were able to fit me in, but it was definitely a slim chance of getting in. If you have a chance to catch a show here, do it. Not many amusement parks offer live entertainment in a close setting like this. I always said Knott's would make a great venue for a music festival and specifically Bird Cage would be an amazing venue to see an artist perform. It's hard to find spaces that are super special and this is one of them. read more

Whilst at Knott's Berry Farm, it should be a must to visit the Bird Cage Theater. It is true enjoyment to experience a Melodramatic performance in the style it was created. Performances never disappoint. I always try to b watch each season's new shows. read more

What a joy to see the continuing history of this theatre in progress. A fun burlesque show which fairly should be evaluated by any parent or not attended by those with more conservative tastes but not missed by anyone wishing to participate in a good time. After visiting Knott's Berry Farm so many times over all these years, I never really realized they actually had live performances in this little theatre. I first ventured into the theatre with Chel R. to watch live performance of A Christmas Carol around the holidays. During my last visit, I took the kiddies to watch Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies. This is a cozy venue that offers short performances (maybe half hour shows on average). There is a small marquee outside the theatre that advertises whatever show is currently playing and the times of the performances. It is a great place to rest your tired feet for awhile and be entertained. It's really charming that they put so much time and thought into live performances. Watching the performers, it is obvious the passion they have for their trade. Each show I watched was entertaining and enjoyable. I loved that Scrooge is still relevant and being performed. It's a great story that we call can still learn from. I was shocked that Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies had such a following. They had loyal fans and groupies! One person in the audience actually made clothing and accessories for stuffed animals to represent each band member and placed it on the stage. It was an great performance. Who knew all those different genres of music could be played as bluegrass music? If I was a tourist with limited time, I might focus on the rides and different venues of the park. Knowing we usually go once a year or so, this is something I will definitely check out again. If I want to take it slow and savor the history and nostalgia of the ghost town at Knott's, this is a great place to check out. read more

Located within Knotts Berry Farm this little theater performs short plays (usually around 30 minutes) and is free with park admission. It's known as the place where comedian/actor Steve Martin started his career as a young man. Check the daily park performance schedules for showtimes and what play is being presented. Or listen for the barker shouting and the pipe organ playing at the edge of Ghost Town encouraging people to come see the show. The acting is of professional caliber but the production was local community theater level. Sets were bare minimum; it felt like a play you might see in 1890 which is fitting for a theater in Ghost Town. I watched A Christmas Carol and actually enjoyed it very much although they really had to change the story (only one spirit!) in order for it to be told in half an hour. The writing needed to amend the story was often creative and humorous. The cast comes outside the theater to pose for photos with guests after the show which I thought was cool. read more

My daughter, her friend and I, visited Knott's today. We realized they were calling people in last minute before closing the doors. We found some seats (they're all pretty good) and were eager to watch A Christmas Carol. The play was just the right length. Not too long, but not short either, as is typical with some rides. It may not be suitable for young squirmy children. The actors did a fabulous job. Their costumes were chosen well, their accents spot on, the lighting and sound on point, storyline done well, and more. The audience all seemed to enjoy it. This could have easily cost $40+ elsewhere. What a lovely treat, especially on a day where the temps were over 90. Well done. read more

This place is part of Knotts Berry farms legendary pass. I cannot believe that they are still doing shows here after all these years. But I love the fact that they are because that means I get to see them. I can remember being a small child and watching Scrooge here. And all the other shows what an awesome awesome opportunity to still be able to go and be part of what is some of an amazing history. read more

Watched the Marshall Purdy show here a few weeks ago. The seats are just plain old chairs and the acoustics pretty much consist of just the microphone, but for 35 minutes of free musical entertainment it does the trick. Not a super big theater either but that means there's no such thing as a bad seat. Three and a half star place. read more

We went to Knotts and saw the bird cage theater musical review and I highly discourage this show for families with children. The show overall was horrible but it was also not a pg show at all and if I had known prior I would not have seen it. People left the show mid way through and they also left again before the show ended. One of the singers comes out to the audience and shakes her chest in front of male guests faces some of which were sitting right next to their wives. Inappropriate in my opinion to begin with but I also had older teen siblings with me who also agreed the show was horrible and inappropriate. Don't recommend this show. I have a season pass and I have seen the Christmas carol during Christmas time and i would highly recommend this show but the musical review was not worth seeing. read more

The act was good but the conditions inside were very hot and still air. Think about investing in a huge fan or sump cooler.

I seen the play with scrooge and thought it was a good play. I always wondered when there were plays here. Most of the plays are during Christmas. The theater is a little small but have several showing a day. Now every year around Christmas I will have to come to see the plays. read more

First of all this title is very misleading. Being our first time at knotts ; a family park, we thought this was going to be an ACTUAL BIRD SHOW or at least something that had to do with birds. Well, it wasn't! This show is not appropriate AT ALL, specially at a family park. The girls dancing were not wearing appropriate clothing & the way they danced wasn't appropriate. The main singer, even though she was dress appropriately (surprisingly), went down the stage and walked around "flirting" with married men with their wives right next to them. She even sat on one guys lap and didn't care his wife was right there. To some this might not be something serious but to me this was so disrespectful. This is definitely not a show you guys wanna see with your kids or even just with your husbands. I literally felt like I was at a 50s strip club. I am very disappointed with this show, I don't understand what their purpose is. They should at least be more clear with the title or warn to those who do not wish to see this. For a family park this has shocked us and Knott's has to do a better job of keeping the entertainment more family friendly. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more
