The woman that answered the phone was very friendly and said to come right in. I parked around the block which wasn't too bad. When I went in, the woman in the front knew right away that I was the one that called. I was seated right away and didn't have to wait at all. Everyone was friendly. My nails came out great and the girl who did them was awesome! I like that they don't use the file machine and use that actual nail file when filing your nails. The previous place that I went to used the machine and it would hurt cuticles. I noticed that they don't use SNS but rather a different powder brand. After being a bit insecure of what could be happening in the background of most nail salons, I was completely reliant on previous Yelp reviews for a place to call home. From my first visit to my most recent, they have always done right by their customers. Not only do they have a good deal for a mani and pedi in the winter, but for those gals who are looking to have a gel mani, they offer a combo deal for a gel mani and regular pedi in the summer from monday - Thursday. Over the years I have brought in friends from Florida and those that are a few towns over to get the best service they can for a nail fix. From a selection of OPI and Essie nail polishes to having their own autoclave that all instruments are bagged in to use per customer and finishing off with using sunscreen before beginning the gel manicures, I couldn't expect a higher quality of service. They allot time for those that are getting pedicures to have 5 minutes for a relaxing foot massage which is standard for them. The pedicure chairs that are fully equipped with the massaging options always work and seem to always set my drive to sleepy mode. In making appointments they are always prompt and on time and exceptionally accommodating. After bringing my boyfriend hear for a quick clean up before our vacation he finds himself going no where else. He loves the gossip he can have with the girls and staff and has been able to create a friendship with them over time. After he tried planning a surprise day date for us, Kris Nails was apart of his plan. I've never had a go to nail salon just because I felt like everyone was judging me everywhere I go because I bite my nails. They made me feel so comfortable at Kris' and attended to me right away. I started doing the shellac manis here and they last forever so it really helped me break the habit. First time, I left it on for 3 weeks (was really pushing it), second time it lasted 8 days before the first chip but too small to be noticeable. I have my third shellac mani on right now. The shine does NOT go away. The person who will usually do your pedicures is a young man. But don't judge! I felt really uncomfortable at first but he is surprisingly good and gives a greattt foot massage each time. I'm very crazy now about having the perfect mani and pedi and Kris Nails does not disappoint. They put a lot of attention into their work and your satisfaction. After reading all the good reviews, I thought I would try this place out. I've been to so many salons in the area to get my nails done, and wanted to find a solid place where I could get my gel manicures done, and I don't think Kris nails is going to be the place. First off, their color selection is very minimal and the Jean or Jeanie, couldn't do any nail designs which is real turn off. The staff there was so nice, and so personalable, but the manicure itself wasn't great. She got a lot of the gel on my skin and didn't take it off. After about 4 days the gel started to lift on two fingers and eventually chipped off. On other nails where the gel was lifting, it got caught on something and made my nail rip a little and broke my nail. And now, after 6 days of having the gel, the tips of my nails have no gel on them at all and the manicure looks terrible. I've had gel manicures before that have lasted unto 3 weeks, almost flawless, but this experience is certainly not the case. I do normal chores at home, like dishes, and have never experienced the gel lasting this shortly. And to top it off, I paid $30 for this manicure that I could of gotten anywhere else for $20-$25. Again, the staff was so nice and out going, but their gel manicures were not great. read more

There's truly nothing I love more at a nail salon than the 'schrrrip!' sound of someone opening up a new sanitized set of nail tools. They've done that both of the times I've come here in the past month and that, along with the general cleanliness of the space, allows me to rest easy knowing that the likeliness of infection or contamination here is pretty slim. The wait is never terribly long but I've noticed a steady stream of customers each visit, which is ably handled by the 3+ technicians that are always on hand. Currently, they are running a gel manicure plus pedicure special for $35 ($30 on weekdays), which is more than fair, especially considering some Manhattan salons that can run you closer to fifty. I also enjoyed the wide variety of colors and brands of polish, even for the gel manicures (most salons in the area seem to only carry one or two brands at most, and a pretty limited selection of colors at that). Though I'm Korean, I never divulged that to the ladies who work there and I was pleased to find that there was no trash-talking of customers amongst the Korean workers there (though they referred to me as 'that Chinese girl', which I guess means I must have played dumb pretty well). Much as I love Kris Nails, the one big thing that keeps me from awarding this space a higher rating is the fact that every time I get my nails done here, there is always a chip on either my toes or my nails within that same week. It's always just one nail and it's always within mere days of getting them done. The first time, it was a discernible chip on the tip of my ring finger. After my most recent visit, the polish on one of my toes had a good hunk fall off. It was especially noticeable since I'd chosen a pretty bright color and it's irritating to have to go and get another mani pedi job to make up for a chip on one digit. I'm wiling to give this space a few more tries to see if this is a consistent mark of their work, but I hope this was just an unfortunate coincidence because I love everything else about this salon. read more

If I lived in or near Queens, I'd be at Kris's on a weekly basis. This small unassuming seemingly typical nail shop rates high on customer service, value, and quality services. The women there are so friendly and clearly have repeat customers that they know a lot about. They make genuine conversation that makes being there really pleasant. The mani pedi costs $15 bucks and those women take their time doing a really good job. The pedi ends with a parafin heel treatment which is something I haven't seen before. Minus a half star because the nail painting is not 100% perfect....only like 85%. Still came out good. Great selection of high quality nail polish in tons of colors. I also got some waxing done. Eyebrows are $3 a brow. And I got the full monty brazilian bikini that DID NOT HURT. Ladies I don't know how they do it. I'm used to some serious pain. Nothing. They are great! I suppose the owner did it, and she was really sweet and nice and very meticulous with her work, even went in with a tweezer to make things perfect in the end. Happy with results. -1 star bc they redip the wooden sticks (lol what do you call those?). But for the price you pay... which was ~20 or so, it is kinda expected. Fairly decent accommodations inside waxing room.
