I love Krispy Kreme doughnuts - enough to drive an hour to get them. Really stinks when you show and they have not on single doughnut in the place! Machine broken was the reason... but - it would have been nice if the employees were more friendly an acted like they cared. These doughnuts are really good, especially is you are lucky enough to catch them when they are hot! The place is clean, has tables and couches to sit at, and friendly workers. There is a clear wall of glass though which you can see the doughnuts being made. The doughnuts are light and airy, not traditional cake doughnuts although they offer those too. When the hot light is on make sure to roll in and get some hot original glazed doughnuts off the conveyor belt. Every second matters as the doughnuts are cooling so I suggest eating right there as opposed to carrying out. They're pretty freaking awesome. Aside from the originals, the Reese's peanut butter doughnut was our top pick. If you want it hot, you can take it home and pop it in the microwave for a few seconds. Not too many of these around anymore. They have them in some of the safeways but not quite the same. They will make you the hot ones even if just ordering one, and make hot donuts all morning and evening. During holidays they have tons of different types. For example for fall they have pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin cake, other fall/Halloween designs. Great coffees too. Not much else but that's all you need! Staff was very friendly too. read more

I agree with many of the reviews one here. It's very clean, the workers are nice but not in a warm and fuzzy kind of way. Definitely one of the nicer places on Route 1. A bit of a hike for us, as we live in Arlington but worth the drive for the warm doughnuts. Love having the original ones from the conveyer belt, although we mix it up with the assorted ones as well. Well we decided to stop AGAIN and we still had issues with our very simple order. We ordered pretty quickly but waited 10 minutes to get to the window to pay. Like clockwork they had no idea what we ordered so we had to repeat our order. Where do lost "orders" go? 2 points this time, because somehow a female staff member managed to make my visit somewhat unpleasant. I bought the coupon for 2 dozen donuts on Groupon, and came to claim my purchase. As soon as I told the girl I had a groupon voucher to use for the purchase, she was like "Oh" so what do you want?" The service from that point on was awkward. Now here is a real customer feedback to you guys, if you decide to promote your business on Groupon, you're in for the full run, your staff should be informed of your promotion and the procedures and be prepared provide undivided attention and care!! They would normally get 4 or 5 stars from me, but i am actually having to detract from my rating due to the Asst. Manager Derrick Lindsey's improper and unprofessional attitude. He appears to lack the mental fortitude of being a decent manager, the ability to properly handle a crowded establishment, and appears to seriously be deficient in customer service skills. If it weren't for the delicious donuts, and this being the only Krispy Kreme close to me, i would have walked out of the store. Possibly the best donut franchise known to man. So good, the plain glaze is all you need. Whenever I have a big meeting at work, I get Krispy Kreme donuts for my team. This rating is mainly for the customer service I received from the Krispy Kreme HQ, Monica. Before this Yelp review, I contacted KK with hopes they would resolve my issue. I explained how I ordered a dozen of my favorite doughnuts, cream-filled chocolate covered, only to get home and discover there was a very minimal amount of cream in each doughnut. She got back to me only to ask for more details. That was the last I heard. Very, very disappointed! When KK is good, they are the best. I'm just sorry their customer service is so poor. read more

I'm a doughnut lover and I love it more than cake. This place is everything and more, especially when the sign HOT is lite. The doughnuts literally just melt in your mouth. The glaze is nice and crisp on the outside while the inside is soft and fluffy. This place is so much better than Dunkin Donuts and I wished we had one in my area. Great donuts, but don't make the same mistake I did: a dozen of their tasty glazed donuts is $7.49 + tax. If you mix donuts (ex. half glazed, half chocolate-covered), they charge you an extra dollar without warning you. At a restaurant, I normally would ask if there's an up-charge for something like this, but I didn't think to do that here. It would have been courteous to give the customer a heads up. This store consistently gives me the wrong donuts - the order is never correct. I don't usually discover this until I am 30 minutes away. Totally not the donuts I ordered. Mostly they wind up in the trash. This pattern has been going on for years. Always at night. AVOID unless you like flushing money down the toilet and wasting your time. You will not get your donuts. Filthy bathrooms, doughnuts all over the floors, balloons popping, funny Thai ladies working the cash registers, weird people because it's a weird area. I must have come at a bad time, and at a bad day. I went a little past 8:30PM on a Monday night, and although they were still baking doughnuts, the one I was given as a sample wasn't hot, or even warm. But, and most importantly, they didn't have sour cream doughnuts!! That's all I went there for. I picked up a couple from the Rockville location, and since i was in the area decided to stop by the Alexandria location, I figured I'd pick up some more but they didn't have any! I settled on a few that I couldn't get at the local grocery store, and they were all okay, cookie dough (this was the best out of the group), cinnamon, apple filled, java chip, but I came here prepared to buy a dozen sour cream doughnuts only to be saddened by the lack of them. It didn't help that the employees weren't friendly. I was kinda rushed, and when I asked about the sour cream doughnuts, the lady said they don't have any. This was pretty obvious because I didn't see any, so I asked will they be making them, and she said they don't make them. Odd..but okay, I guess this isn't the place for me. It's unfortunate because I had a great experience at the Rockville location, friendly staff and sour cream doughnuts and all, but it's just too far out of the way. Best Kkreme bakery location aesthetically, but the customer service is always terrible when I go there (specifically the Richmond Highway location). They are often rude and have given me the wrong donuts (kreme filled when I ask for custard filled-- huge difference). In case you have not been to a Krispy Kreme before? Here is what you need to do. Go to a Krispy Kreme when the hot light is on. The hot light is a sign that glows neon red when they are making their donuts fresh. It's hard to miss. When you see that go in and order a fresh regular donut. Eat it. It will, literally no exaggeration at all, melt in your mouth. It will be amazing. Do not take a dozen home for yourself because the donut goes from amazing to sickly sweet with a hard crust of sugar as soon as it loses its heat. Maybe you can take it for some co-workers but they gotta finish it quick. They also have seasonal donuts that, again, if you eat them fresh tend to be awesome but as soon as they get home and cool are difficult to eat. Freshness is key. Plus its awesome watching the conveyor belt of donuts being fried and covered with liquid sugar. read more

My first time at Krispy Kreme was everything I imagined it would be. When I called to ensure that they were open, the manager schooled me on the Krispy Kreme lingo & informed me that they stayed open till 1AM on Sat ...yeah, that's right 1AM. He also told me that all of his donuts are fresh, but what I wanted was a "hot" donut. Once we got there, we saw that there were featured donuts, so of course we had to try one of those in addition to our "hot" donut. We tried to tell the lady helping us that we wanted all of our donuts "hot", but I guess you can only get the traditional glazed "hot" at all times. The "hot" donut was really light and so amazingly good. The glaze wasn't too heavy and just melted in my mouth. The chocolate covered glazed donut was also really delish, although it would've been better if it was hot. The Lemon donut with the icing was also pretty good, but it was too dense for me since it's a cake donut. I was also pleasantly surprised by their coffee. We ordered the combo and it came w/a big cup of coffee, which also tasted really good. I'll be back to buy the coffee because they sell it by the pound. I think the only drawback of the donut shop was that the tables were dirty. read more

I don't understand the obsession. I've never understood the obsession. KrispyKreme donuts do nothing for me-- how can something be airy and greasy simultaneously? Has anyone thought about chemically analyzing these things? God alone knows what secrets of organic chemistry might be uncovered. The hot glazed donuts are a sticky mess when they are actually hot; they become a flaky mess when they cool and the coating slathered on them breaks and winds up on your hands (or, heaven forbid, your beard!). Their coffee (koffee?) is nothing special, to boot. The place is clean, yes. The donuts are hot when the sign is on, yes. They do have a drive-through which, I suppose, is convenient. All that being said, unless you either want to follow the herd or legitimately like donuts that are 5 parts sugar, 4 parts grease, 1 part air (and hey,apparently a lot of people do), keep driving to Dunkin' Donuts or, better yet, someplace like Brenner's Bakery in Belleview. I don't know if it's just this place or every Krispy Kreme, but I have never been disappointed with their donuts. I could go on and on about how amazing they are. You gotta eat them as soon as possible, though, because when they're best fresh. The donuts literally melt into your mouth and it's the closest thing I can get to action sometimes. They come in a variety of flavors, but I stick to glazed original because I stick to what I love. I'm sure that all of their other flavors are great though. The only complaint I probably would have is they don't accept discover or Android/Apple Pay. This place isn't 24/7 from I last checked, but it opens really early and is open until late. I highly recommend getting a dozen donuts if you do choose to get some. If you're around the area and craving something sweet, definitely give this place a try and I promise you won't regret it...
