The seating is few only 4 chairs at a table by the window, conducive for people for watching. However, we sat there and enjoyed thoroughly our coffee, hot chocolate and my fav chai...mwah so good. Along with 4 orders of beignets, no dipping sauce required, as they should stand alone, and they did. Jae was awesome in referring us to thus place and the service was spot on very good. Once I heard that there was a Black-owned beignet restaurant in Alexandria, I had to make my way over after brunch. Interesting set-up with order and pickup in the front of the restaurant, a few bar seats at the front window, and the rest of the seating in the rear. Amazing cafe with bengeits that certainly live up to its name. The food and drinks here remind me of Tiana's cafe at the start of the movie with delicious desserts. The Chai latte both hot and iced is absolutely delectable that puts Starbucks and Pete's coffee to SHAME. Every employee there is nice and the service is similar to Starbucks and there are multiple places to hang around in. The environment and ambiance there is super chill and is inspired by a New Orleans type of vibe. My favorite place to sit is the booth right by the big window where the sun hits perfectly in every time and makes it very beautiful and perfect for photos. We ended up getting 2 orders of the beignets with powdered sugar, one with the vanilla sauce and the other with the chocolate sauce. The beignets were pretty tasty, albeit inconsistently cooked. Some of them were hollow while some were more dense. The sauces were thicker than I expected them to be, but I thought they were a good addition. I definitely liked the vanilla better than the chocolate though. There is a decent amount of seating in the back, and I could see this being a good place to study. It was not crazy crowded which we were worried about, but the wait was longer than expected, so not sure if they were swamped how it would go. Tables needed to be wiped down, but just powder sugar from Beignets and a young lady was coming to do after we left so maybe short-staffed. Restrooms are available (one was out of order), but clean & stocked which is a plus in Old Town. Beignets were decent, slightly crispy, but fluffy on inside. The Ben'Yays are pretty good. I had the chocolate ones. The sodas in the front are decent, they're just your normal "upper echelon" fancy sodas that come with a fancy price. The service is decent, the people are nice. I actually left my laptop charger and battery at the cafe/restaurant and it took them a week to get back to me through email, but the fact that they held my laptop charger and portable battery for me saved me $200. So that makes the service priceless. So while the service for food and drinks was decent, the service beyond the food was excellent. The ambiance was perfect for what I was looking for. I needed a place to get work done and concentrate before heading to a workout class. Plenty of seating up front and back in the restaurant. Comfortable seating as well. The music was not some ingratiating pop music you hear on repeat from one restaurant to the next, they remained authentic to the theme and played some jazz band/quartet in the background. This is a great spot for a quick treat and a cup of coffee. I had a classic or sugar beignet. You get a couple in a bag and I suggest you grab a couple extra napkins, because the bag is loaded with powdered sugar and there's nothing wrong with that! They also have a decent amount of seating (for Alexandria) and they serve a great cup of coffee as well.
