One of the teens dramatically declared, "Not today, Satan." Then, out of nowhere, a teenager casually drops a suggestion that stopped the room: "Barbecue from a place called Crave." Barbecue? Interesting. But... none of us had ever heard of this place. Naturally, the next question was: Where is it? And that's when the real twist arrived. Apparently Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ is inside Walmart Supercenter. Yes. Inside Walmart. At this point I was convinced the teenager had been scrolling too much TikTok. A barbecue restaurant... in Walmart? I had to see this with my own eyes. So off we went. Sure enough, tucked right inside the store was this little barbecue spot that looked like it had no business being that good. The smell alone should have been illegal to pump into a retail environment. You walk in expecting to buy paper towels and leave smelling like you just visited a smokehouse in Texas. And the food? Surprisingly fantastic. The barbecue had that smoky flavor that makes you pause mid-bite and say, "Okay... hold on... this is actually really good." The portions were generous, the menu had plenty of options, and somehow the whole thing managed to feel both fast and freshly made. The real miracle of the evening was that everyone--kids, guests, and the exhausted adults--walked away happy and full. No experimental freezer meals were required, and my reputation as a "competent host" lived to see another day. Final verdict: If someone tells you there's legit barbecue inside Walmart, don't argue--go investigate. To start, they begin closing procedures early - at least 2 hours early. By 9 pm, the little hard pieces of rice and dry shreds of meat are what's left. The food whether it's supposed to be hot or not will be room temperature at best. For a few months, the soda machine was out of soda and ice. And you cannot forget the complementary floor trash. Pieces of food, lids to the bowls, straw wrappers, etc. riddle the open counter space as well as the floor. Tonight in particular, they were out of cheese, gave the usual small portions, and the workers continued to carry on a conversation without assisting people waiting in line - chatting about TikTok and whatever else. I was told to eat more of the taco to "prove" it wasn't the correct item. A female employee then pulled the taco out of my hands and stated I wouldn't need it since I'd be given a replacement. As someone who works in food service, I know eaten food should never be taken back behind the counter for health and safety reasons. When I asked for her name and the manager's name, all employees present refused to provide any information. This unnecessary refusal escalated the situation and left me with no way to follow up properly. I am disappointed in how this was handled and ask that corporate review this incident carefully. This behavior damages the Taco Bell brand and should not be acceptable at any location.
