I went here with my sister & niece about a week ago. To start things off we ordered the French Onion Soup which was the best I've ever received at any restaurant. I then ordered the Mates Platter and was very happy with it. I particularly liked the Deviled Crab & Hush Puppies that came with it. My sister ordered the Shrimp Lover's platter which she stated was also delicious. The service from our waitress was also attentive. What a great experience dining here. Casual restaurant. Senior menu that you can order any time. We had the best service from Nicole. She was on top of all our needs. Food was yummy. I had the prime rib (off the senior menu) that was cooked exactly as requested. My husband had Key Lime Swordfish. He loved it. The whole staff were friendly and you really feel welcomed. Would like to see a few more NON fish meals I asked if they could make a hamburger steak dinner (it was not on the menu)they said yes and was very good . I had their rib bbq dinner one time Dustin's beat them all the way Steak dinner fair. Entrance little tricky couple steep steps but they have an easy handicap entrance no steps you are escorted thru the kitchen (always clean). They have the BEST rock shrimp when in season and they buy only when they are able to get the BIG ones ( friend out of town calls them ahead Are they big today!?? So food and service GOOD, Prices ok, best fish around always fresh and some you won't find anywhere else. Tried a new place instead of the traditional beachside restaurants we frequent. Looked up this place due to the reviews and it held up its reputation and then some. 0 stars ! I was excited to try this restaurant. Still have not and now won't . My family stopped in yesterday . The hostess or whatever was so rude . I get they had just got a huge party over 20 (that didn't have reservations) but she made a remark about us having kids with us. Then said to move out of the way servers would need to get through . I get that they did and we moved . Restaurant is small and was crowded. We had never been there before so we didn't realize server would be coming through. Then said she couldn't seat us . I asked not at all she said no. I have never been told a place wouldn't seat us. We would of been willing to wait . I said we had drove an hour to get there she said maybe we should of made reservations . I guess she was right but it was a Tues. night , so I didn't think it would be needed. The portion size of the prime rib seemed smaller than the advertised 8oz. It was good but I've had better locally. The baked potato was cooked perfectly & the veggies were tasty. Liked that they were sliced extremely thin with the carrots having a fine julienne on them. This allowed the vegetables to be fully cooked. One out of the 4 of us ordered the baby back ribs. It was only a half rack on the early bird menu with 2 sides. All were delicious. The service was good. I'd like to return and try their seafood offerings. Would go to Blackbeards in NSB if craving prime rib again. read more

First off the place looked pretty busy and it was. It's Bike week here. Food as always didn't disappoint and I got the Blackened Mahi Mahi while my son got the same but fried. Both were just terrific , moist and tasty. The side baked sweet potato was on point , just enough butter but not totally drenched in it. The exterior of the restaurant and the low key interior will immediately make you realize this place is truly a dive (but very clean inside)! But the seafood is fresh, they have rock shrimp which can't be found everywhere, and the food has been good each time I went! Just don't expect anything fancy and only expect delicious seafood and you'll be good to go! I recommend getting here a little early as they do sometimes run out of rock shrimp and prime rib. Oh, and if you've never tried rock shrimp, you really should! They have a texture and sweetness similar to lobster. One thing I like about getting them at JC's versus other fish camps is that you don't have to completely peel them. They already have the meat exposed and split making it super simple to eat! I've been to JC's Riptides three times now. The first time, I'll admit that I was nervous due to some of the reviews and the exterior of the restaurant - but the food was good! Last night was our third time there, and our last. It's a local spot, very casual, relax ambiance and super easy go to for a busy work week. However, we had the special red grouper which was being served with lemon wine sauce and scallops. The grouper was served without scallops, extremely bland that I had to salt it myself, and runny sauce. The dish came with 2 hush puppies which were dry and rubbery and a small side of veggies also bland. The presentation is equivalent to a school cafeteria where your food is served on white plastic dishes. The biggest slap in the face is when they bring you the tab! Our plastic dish that had a piece of grouper swimming in wine sauce with a plastic ramekin filled with veggies and 2 hush puppies cost $40. That was $80 for bland undercooked fish. We always love finding local places to go eat. Places where your money stays in the area as opposed to going to a corporate beast. JC's riptide certainly fits that bill! I would say that JC's is a cross between two of our favorite restaurant styles both prime rib and seafood. To that point, that is exactly what we ended up eating was the prime rib and rock shrimp for the two of us. I ordered my prime rib blackened and it did not disappoint. Our server was fantastic, although I forgotten her name but not her face. We will become regulars as my wife and I both said this is exactly what we've been looking forward to finding. read more

Love JC's Riptides. My go to dinner is the shrimp lovers. I especially love the stuffed and scampi shrimp. I recommend you call for reservations because they get really busy and wait time can be long. You can seat yourself at the bar and can order food there if the wait time is too long. We found this restauranton yelp and it did not disappoint. The parking lot was full however we managed to find a spot. We checked in for a rable then proceeded to the bar. We met the friendliest couple who gave great food recommendations. We had the rock shrimp which was super sweet and Mahi mahi. Salad dressings are homemade and fabulous along with their hush puppies! We have been here several times in the past few years. We like it because it is away from the beach crowd. The place is pretty simple, bar to the left, restaurant tables to the right. I will say the restrooms are always clean and well stocked. The rock shrimp is without a doubt the reason to come here. They are fantastic! Interesting place. It was nonstop people coming in the entire time we were there. We decided to eat at the bar, which was fine. The food is awesome with nice portion sizes. The interior could use a little updating, and they were not using all the space they had. They could have added more tables. However, they may not have enough wait staff. The appetizers came quick and were delicious,then we waited an HOUR for our entrees, when I finally spoke with a manager I was informed that the kitchen had been shutdown for 45 minutes, then she started making excuses as to why her son running the kitchen couldn't get to our orders or the 5 still ahead of us the fact that we were still charged for the appetizers after basically being told our food was not coming is a bit outrageous but I gladly paid and left rather than wait for them to figure out the rest of the orders. Our server, Autumn, was great regardless and obviously bears no responsibility for the kitchen's issues, even though the manager tried to act like it was by some fault of the server that our food wasn't done, typical of poor management to blame someone else. Whoever the hostess/to go order girl tonight, 1/9/21 is literally the most horrific person I've ever spoken to. I was uncomfortable placing my order with her from the beginning and I should've trusted my gut. I have never felt like more of an inconvenience in my LIFE. We place an order totaling over 100 dollars, and tipped pretty nicely for a togo order, only to get home and it be wrong. I will never return to this restaurant I'm literally mortified by my experience with her. I called her to just let her know we were missing food and to maybe check it for the next to go, to help out. She responded with "huh????" "Wait huhhh?" "Hello, hello". It's sad that the face, voice of your restaurant is extremely rude. If you're looking to get to go, skip it.
