We were in town for a New Glarus Brewery tour and had breakfast at Kristi's. It was delightful! The restaurant is located in a beautiful Victorian and still maintains the welcoming charm it must have held long ago as someone's home. Our hostess/server was equally as warm and friendly. My husband had a classic breakfast: eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. Potatoes were especially tasty. I had a Vegetarian Omelette and it was delicious. Prices were very reasonable for such a classy dining environment. New Glarus is a neat town. Kristi's is a must while you're there. read more

Drove an hour to get here because of the rave review in The Wisconsin State Journal, Google it. Lunch was so good, we came back again two weeks later. Tried the jalapeño cilantro margarita and the pink grapefruit margarita, both were perfection. Shrimp ceviche was light and flavorful. Salmon salad was pure heaven, savored every bite. Crab cake sandwich with homemade chips was delicious. Save room for dessert, too many great choices, the creme brûlée can't be passed up. Me and my friends stayed at the new Glarus woods state park last weekend and wanted to go have brunch somewhere in town and I am so happy that we found Kristi's! I had the prime rib omelette which was delicious! It had prime rib, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese, I believe, and every part was great! I tried some of my friends crab cake eggs Benedict as well which was fantastic! They make their own jam too which was great on the toast. The service was great as well, I forgot the name of our server but I believe she was just subbing in for the Sunday brunch and she was so nice and attentive! Amazing place! I got the Wiener schnitzel and it was heaven, as were the sides of spaetzle and red cabbage. I lived in Germany for five years and this was maybe the best schnitzel I've had. Stopped in for a quick cocktail and dinner. Folks it was a real struggle choosing between my favorite; the ribs, and the Salmon & Shrimp dinner special. Much to my delight, the salmon and large butterflied shrimp were cooked to perfection (sorry ribs-next time).The best part of the meal was the over-the-top service. Unfortunately, our meal was sub-par. The schnitzel coating was over-browned to the point of blackened one side, and was quite tasteless. The meat itself, however, had a good meat flavour and was tender. The spaetzel was crispy and tasteless, and the vegetables were dry and unappetizing. My wife's chicken was overcooked/dry on parts of the edges. The seasoning, a sort-of pesto, was strong for her, but perhaps other patrons would enjoy. I've had schnitzel both in America and Europe, and sadly my meal hardly compared. read more

After visiting the brewery and walking around town, Kristi's ended up being the highlight of our trip! Amazing food, and EVERYTHING is made from scratch. We had the Kristi's burger and shrimp roll -- both were excellent. The shrimp roll comes on a Stella's cheese bun (genius move) and had nice flavor AND fresh avocado (but get the pico on the side if you don't like cilantro). The Kristi's burger was cooked well and came with chorizo (yum). The house chips and coleslaw were also good. Reasonable prices for very tasty food (and New Glarus beer!), and the server was helpful and efficient. There's also a beautiful outdoor porch seating area. We would definitely come back. read more

My husband and I spent a night in New Glarus recently and absolutely loved Kristi's! The outdoor seating is beautiful, high up on a hill, and overlooking the town and they have a great selection of New Glarus beers on tap. In addition, they had AMAZING margaritas. So good, that we came back twice in one day so I could try another flavor. Super fresh tasting and mixed well- not syrupy or too sweet. Service was great as well, and we shared a grilled mango chicken sandwich which was delicious. Would definitely come back to this place if I find myself in New Glarus again! read more

As charming as the town it's set in, Kristi's is a delightful find. We stopped in for a very late lunch after visiting the New Glarus Brewing Company. We sat at a prime table on the porch, which has a lovely view of the quaint downtown area. We started with the cheese curds, which were absolutely worth the calories. Lightly battered brick cheese curds had just the right amount of crispy to melt-y ratio with a little bit of sharpness you don't get from a cheddar curd. They were totally yummy. For my entree I had the cheese burger with house-made potato chips. The burger was cooked perfectly to my requested medium-rare. When I bit into it, the kaiser bun could not contain the juiciness (not a bad thing!). The grilled chicken sandwich special was equally tasty and high-quality. Both were served on a bakery-grade kaiser bun --yeasty and tender, definitely not a mass-produced bun. The homemade potato chips were also excellent--crispy and the right level of done. My dinner partner opted for the home-made tortilla chips, which were fresh and crisp, but definitely the lesser of the options. We enjoyed the town, we loved the restaurant. We'll definitely be back. Helpful hint --if you stop at the brewery first for beer tasting, the cost of the tasting includes a coupon for a free small tap beer at any of the participating local restaurants --Kristi's is one of them. read more

We found ourselves in New Glarus on a Monday when many restaurants are closed. We noticed that the lovely Victorian style house/restaurant had a new sign in front, so we tried it out. Were we glad we did! I consider myself a crab cake aficionado -- if they're on a menu, I order them. I had the crab cake sandwich for lunch. It was one of the best crab cakes I've ever eaten! It held together well, had a very fresh taste, light breading, a wonderful sauce -- just marvelous! Hubby had a hamburger -- done to perfection and excellent as well. The homemade chips are a treat, too. We were full, but when Kristi mentioned caramel tres leches cake, we had to try it. OMG!!! I would go back just for that! We live about 30 miles from New Glarus, but plan to make the drive to Kristi's often! read more

Oh, I love 5 star reviews!!! Love to give them and the reasons I do, which means we had some really good food & service. Yes! Ok..... first, this place is in New Glarus, the most adorable Swiss village of Wisconsin, and the vintage home that houses Kristi's is just beautifully restored and set up for intimate dining. The menu may seem a bit weird (steakhouse/mexican in a Victorian home), but who cares! Our appetizer was the BEST nachos I think I've ever had (and this Southern Tex-Mex gal knows...), topped with the freshest sour cream I know I've ever tasted - it must have come straight from the cow that day!!! Next, we dined on the special for my hubs (I believe it was pork chops) and I had fall-off-the-bone tender beef ribs with a Memphis-inspired BBQ sauce. OMG...... this was absolutely one of the best restaurant meals we have had in a very long time. And, when you find the best - you definitely have dessert! That too did not disappoint. Sure wish we lived near Kristi's, as it would definitely be a favorite, frequently visited treat. And, guaranteed that should we find ourselves in New Glarus again - you will find us at Kristi's! We had high hopes based on recommendations for this restaurant. We ordered the filet. It was only fair. The meat was tougher than most filets we have enjoyed in the past. The vegetables and potatoes were good but the rice was a little bland. Overall it was a good meal but overpriced for the quality and portion size. Service was fair. The atmosphere was nice. It was our first visit and we will probably come again and try another item on the menu before making a final judgement. read more

Very disappointed! After reading the other reviews on Yelp we thought we were making a great choice for dinner while visiting New Glarus. My braised lamb tasted like overdone pot roast and my date's alfredo was soupy and lacked flavor. Not at all what we were expecting. We got the blackened bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer, which were okay and the tiramisu for dessert, which we thought tasted more like white cake with a coffee favored powder on top. The service was slow and the waitress admitted that our appetizer was taking a long time because the order slip was lost in the kitchen. The atmosphere was nice, the bar and the front room were dimly lit and romantic. We were in the back room where it was more brightly lit, which wasn't quite the ambiance we were going for. We were also were freezing the entire time (it was February, but they could have turned the heat on) so I had my coat on throughout the meal. We would not recommend coming here for dinner. read more

Our group of six ate at Kristi's on July 2, 2016. We all loved it! The food was excellent as was the service. It's also a very lovely setting. If you have 4 or fewer in your party, you can sit outside on the porch. We were disappointed that we couldn't do that but really enjoyed our leisurely dinner indoors. Our group had duck, grilled salmon, steak/shrimp, and lamb -- all of which were delicious. Very warm and yummy rolls were served prior to the meal. We topped off our evening with shared desserts, which were awesome. Oh, and let's not forget the three bottles of wine we had -- an Argentinian malbec. Overall, a really delightful evening! Boy, I don't know what all the fuss is about. Adorable ambiance is the best feature here. I love the converted old home into a higher end restaurant; but that's about all I enjoyed about it. I ordered my steak medium rare and I got very well done. It was very disappointing and the rest of the dish was just mediocre. My wife ordered the fettuccine Alfredo as did the couple sitting next to us (but not with us we didn't know them). The dish was extraordinarily hot resulting in both my wife and the customer next to us burning their tongues. I know this sounds silly to complain of a dish being hot, but seriously, I don't think I have ever seen any dish ever cooked to temperatures this extreme before. Do they bring the Alfredo sauce to a rolling boil? Why?The customer next to us complained about it. My wife allowed what should be an appropriate amount of time before consuming but to no avail. It burned her mouth badly.The flavor was mediocre, very rich but so hot it was difficult to taste anything. It was still piping hot even after I consumed my dry steak which seemed to take forever to chew. We visit New Glarus annually but I'm pretty sure we won't be back here. Everything is cooked way too well done. read more
