First of all, a huge thanks to Krua Thai for having an excellent website (http://www.kruathaiofbourne.com) that includes the full menu with PICTURES! There haven't been many Yelpers yet doing photoshoots of their food so their online picture menu is wonderful for people that don't have Thai food often. It also gets people to try new dishes! Krua Thai provides its customers with delicious, large portions for the Thai favorites you're craving. I had to try the Chicken Pad Thai (I know, not that adventurous, but I use the dish to standardize my ratings of Thai restaurants). The portion size was larger than just about any I've had from a Thai restaurant. It was also a well balanced and seasoned dish with large pieces of juicy chicken. I would definitely eat it again but am interested in the Crazy Noodles dish that my girlfriend had. We also started with Crab Rangoons which were excellent. Yet, all of Krua Thai's appetizers look very appealing. I may have to visit and just sample every appetizer for a meal. If you're along the south shore or near the Cape, visit Krua Thai. read more

Really wanted Thai and the reviews seemed pretty good so we gave it a try. Pick up was easy but that's about all I have good to say. The food was awful! Phad Thai was a clump of noodles with no flavor or much else, Thai wings were just fried wings, nothing Thai about them, crab rangoon was just so so. This is my favorite local takeout. Both of them. The Tom Kar and Tom Yum soups are the best of any Thai place around, and the portions are great for the price. When I was sick they were nice enough to sell me the broth which was the only thing that made me feel better, and they were total sweethearts. I like the curries and pad Thais, haven't explored many of the deeper dishes yet to I plan to try the whole menu (as I secretly learn to cook these at home), and I recommend the coconut custard very tasty. read more

Found this gem when we were craving Thai food on the Cape and it was such a pleasant surprise, we didn't expect to find such authentic Thai food. The food comes in generous portions and is flavorful, and the staff is friendly. This has quickly become one of our go-to places for dinner. One thing to note is that we got takeout here once and it seemed significantly more mediocre (less fresh tasting and with much smaller portions) than if you eat in the actual restaurant, but five stars for the in-restaurant experience. read more

Excellent service and really superb Pad Thai. You have no idea how super your service will be and the cleanliness of the place as you pull up, it has been there for a long time and it looks a little rough. But inside is super clean and it's amazing how large it really is, there are at least five or six tables in what seems from outside a completely tiny building. I've posted a photo of the Pad Thai, but we also had the veggie Thai Rolls, which were totally to die for as well. This was a remarkable meal and I know I will be back plenty. read more

Thankfully the speed limit is 25 MPH or you might miss it. This is a solid Thai restaurant. I didn't give it a 5 because it wasn't the best Thai on the planet and I reserve those for the best of a category. It barely got a 4 because you can see the beverage work station from the dining area, the chicken in both the Tom Kar and the Pad Thai appeared pre-cooked and lack the flavor of the sauce and the Crab Rangoon and Fried Dumplings on the combo plate were overlooked and chewy. However, I would eat here again and again. The chef was careful not to include peppers like we had requested. And there is no MSG (which isn't in most Thai food anyway, but assuring that they mentioned it). The place filled many take out orders while we ate for locals and they sport a wall of pictured diners which added quaintness and stability. The service, however, was 5 Star. No hovering yet attentive. Our beverages were never less than half-full and she was very pleasant and cheerful. Tom Kar with Chicken: A little sweeter than I'm used to but certainly just preference. Good portion for the money and chockfull of mushrooms. Pad Thai Combo: the combos are supposed to be smaller portions than the dinners and include two Crab Rangoons and two Fried Dumplings. It was more than enough and allowed us to skip ordering an appetizer just to try a few things. The noodles were cooked to the right consistency and the sauce was neither overwhelming nor lacking, evenly flavorful. Just enough garnish of crushed peanuts sat on top. The combo comes with chicken and one shrimp, so if you're looking for shrimp or seafood, the dinner will be what you need. As mentioned above, the Rangoon and dumplings were a bit chewy but we didn't say no. Green Curry: huge portion accompanied by sticky rice. We asked for no peppers and it was solid. Just enough heat without having to chase every bite with a sip of water. Fresh peas and vegetables abounded. Iced Tea: they do not use black tea for their iced tea, so you may want to ask for a sample. It wasn't "our cup of tea." Iced Water: as a cancer survivor, I find myself ordering water instead of soft drinks more and more often. (FYI: Soft drinks here are served out of the can.) This restaurant had a filter on their water--some coastal restaurants simply pour from the tap. I give the water a thumbs up. read more

Stopped here because it has a 4.5 star review, I am not sure why this place is ranked so highly. Maybe it's because there isn't much Thai in the area. I have no clue but in my option, this is place is 2.5-3 at best. My step dad ordered the sample platter and everything looked like it came straight out of an 80's Chinese restaurant, greasy and fried. He didn't even finish it. I ordered the crazy noodles with no egg and tofu. It was ok but rather bland and despite its level two spicy warning, it wasn't spicy at all. My step dad's entree was a spring plate that came out green....like pesto? It was at this point that he said, "I don't know why this place has a 4.5 star rating", I had to agree. If you're in the area, skip this place and drive 15 mins up Rt 6 to Fairhaven and try Sivalai for great Thai food at a lower price. read more

Something has changed here. Recently ordered Pad Thai, and the taste and smell were off from many previous orders. I brought this to the attention of the lady working the counter, saying it was inedible for me. She said she'd ask the kitchen staff about it, and watched me throw my uneaten dish into the trash by her counter. I never got a response as to if the recipe was altered from the usual, and was never asked if I'd like to try something else. I would've declined the offer, as my appetite was turned off by the unappetizing Pad Thai, but it would've been nice to get a clarification. I sat there watching my friend eat his meal. They had plenty of time to rectify the situation. Not going back to what had been a favorite restaurant. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat, and most definitely one of the best thai places around. Family owned, and family recipes -- the experience doesn't get more authentic than that. It's a small restaurant, but definitely has character. They have a wall of pictures of their customers at the restaurant which shows a lot in how they appreciate the people who come eat here. When people say the hole-in-the-wall restaurants are the best, they aren't kidding. This is as surprising as it gets. It's a tiny shack right near Mass. Maritime and the railroad bridge in downtown Buzzards Bay. Don't let their small size fool you: the best Thai at the best price is right here. Takeout or eat-in, both are terrific. I'm a huge fan of their crab rangoons, chicken or tofu pad see you which is loaded with veggies, and chicken pad thai. Yes, very boring selections, but it's so good. An order of crab rangoons and pad see you is enough to feed two people comfortably, and you'll walk away for around $15. This is no 5-star eatery, it's just good food at a good price. As take-out goes, I can't name one other place I can get such a relatively healthy meal at such a reasonable cost. I'm happy to eat here as often as I can. read more

Krua Thai is definitely authentic Thai cuisine. Unnoticeable among all the antique shops long Buzzard Bay, this place serves up from hot dishes. It's a little tiny house and when you walk in, its almost like you are walking into someone's kitchen. There are tables but its rather small. I notice more people order take out than eating in. Krua Thai, I love you. Your crispy chicken pad thai is super delicious! One of the best Thai places I have been to, even comparing to Boston. Usually when I get take out, I eat maybe half a portion and save the rest or throw it away because it's nasty. With the crispy chicken crazy noodles, my fiance teased me because I ate the ENTIRE THING. Not a fan of dining in that place, just because it is a small restaurant, but take-out is just fine. The food is still fresh and steamy when I get home, my noodles have not harden or given in to condensation! Their combination plates are delicious too, My fiance got a Thai fried rice combo plate with chicken wings and fried dumpling for $9.95. It was quite a disappointment to open the takeout box to find a generous portion of fried rice, but one little chicken wing and 2 tiny dumplings. Instant sad face for him. I will just stick to my crispy chicken pad thai or crazy noodles because they give you a huge portion, and the nice lady at the desk hooked me up with extra hot chili paste. SCORE! read more

Being as obsessed with restaurants as I tend to become, Krua Thai has been a popular topic in my everyday conversation, and everyone, yes, really, everyone I speak to, who has experienced it, will agree; Krua Thai is delicious. This restaurant evokes a reaction, an excitement, in their South Coast Mass clientele that I really haven't seen before. People are actually passionate about how great this place is. Situated on Main Street in Buzzards Bay, in front of the park at the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge, the restaurant itself is about 500-600 square feet, and the dining room doesn't seat many. I get my food to go, but the restaurant almost always has a healthy crowd. They do not deliver. And they close at 9 pm, even in the (tourist infested) summer. this was the worst food ever! I thought I would treat myself to lunch and ordered takeout. I ordered simple yellow curry chicken. What I received was an extremely small portion of overcooked rubber chicken. The chicken was so bad, I couldn't eat most of it and if I had been at the restaurant, I would have sent it back. Delicious Thai food in a ramshackle canal-side hut in Buzzard's Bay. The shack, which seats 22 people max, was packed when I arrived famished after biking along the Cape Cod Canal trail. The staff (I got family business vibes) were friendly and efficient. Waiting for the food took a bit longer than at some Thai restaurants, but it was so worth it! The Tom Yum soup was above average--hot, fresh and flavorful. The steamed pork dumplings were plump and moist with a smidge of perfectly cooked crunchy garlic sitting on top each one. The day's special was "Golden Bags," which the waiter recommended to me as both delicious and hard to eat. He was right on both counts! A thin sheet of pastry dough is stuffed with ground shrimp, chicken and corn, crimped at the top to resemble the type of bundle cartoon characters tie to the end of a stick when the run away from home, and fried. The bags were light and delicate on the outside--and chock full of flavor on the inside. Since I ordered soup and two starters, I skipped the main courses. But I did see a Pad Thai float by. It was beige-brown in color, which will be appreciated by those (like me) who do not like their pad thai with ketchupy orange-colored sauce. Salad fans might be disappointed to see only two on the menu--a Garden salad and one described as "chicken on top of fresh vegetables served with peanut sauce." But there are plenty of other veggies on the menu elsewhere such as the make your own stir fry section. There are several non-meat options ie. veggie tofu stir fry, bowl of noodles with veggies etc. If you eat seafood but not meat, there even more options. If you come here, take a walk into the parking lot behind to see a stunning railroad bridge over the canal. If you catch it right, you can see the bridge slowly descend to accommodate a passing train, and then rise again. It's a magical little corner of Buzzard's Bay, and finding unexpectedly good Thai here just made it for me! read more
