This place is tiny. A cute little house turned into a Thai joint. There are 5 tables inside. The service was very nice! Everything we ordered was very very good but lacked the spice you would expect from Thai food. The chicken satay were marinated in curry - surprising. They were tender and zingy. The chicken wings were excellent. Simple but perfect. The pad thai was very good and fresh tasting. The chicken and eggplant was flavorful. If I lived nearby I would definitely frequent this place for lunch! A few drawbacks: there are no restrooms. What?? How is this possible? Is that not required by health code here in MA? Krua is the best Thai I've found on the cape by far. My only complaint is that they are located on the mainland which makes it harder to grab lunch during the tourist season. During the fall however it is a great place to grab a quick lunch and watch boats traverse the canal from the park behind the building. Thier Pad Thai is perfection, silky and the perfect hint of peanut in every bite. I've always get an order of the Golden Bag and once even managed to make it home before eating the entire order. I cannot fully describe how disappointed we were with the crispy chicken pad thai. If we hadn't been so hungry, we would have sent it back; as it was we couldn't stomach finishing it. Very good pad thai and decent steamed pork dumplings. Crab rangoons seemed to be store bought. I just had this for take out after going by this place many times. The building is a little dumpy looking as is most of Buzzards Bay so it fits. I only gave it 3 stars as the kid who took my order seemed like he was being punished and had to work at the family biz for the day. And I thought the portions were a little skimpy for the price. Small, but that doesn't bother me. Good service. Good food. So why only 2 stars? Flies. There were dead (and living) flies all in the place. Before the meal arrived, I asked how to find the restrooms. Wow. what an experience. You go back through the kitchen (more flies) and there's a closet (that's generous) of a bathroom. Yuck. more flies in there. Well, we finished and left and haven't returned. Hoping we just caught them on a fly-tastic day in the heat of summer and it's not like that all the time. I can only say I am stunned at how excellent the food is at this tiny, unassuming restaurant. I love Thai food, and don't think I've ever enjoyed a meal more. This place would be worth the ride from Boston. Had crazy noodles, and whatever the #24 is on the menu. Both were spicy as promised, and perfectly seasoned without being salty. We ate vegetarian with tofu, and it was silky and perfectly cooked. The fresh spring rolls were a perfect combo of soft wrapper and crunchy lettuce with an excellent peanut sauce. The sticky rice and mango for dessert was a perfect finish. Where do they get tasty mango in November???? Water is served with lemon, very classy - but no alcohol on the premise. Didn't care a bit. I have considerd the old, small Krua Thai Buzzards Bay location "my kitchen," since moving to town over a decade ago. It became a "must go" whenever my daughter would visit. A "must go" to all coming to town, or who had not yet been. We loved the intimate, rustic, authentic dining experience. I was excited when they moved across the street to a larger, newer location. Unfortunately, everything went down hill after they moved. The ambiance was lost - it now feels like a mall food court location. Tacky decor and cheap seats - but a nice window seating area. But the overall layout is poor. I have never eaten in since the move. Then, the food quality began to decline - but pricing did not follow. I've had two meals delivered in the last 45 days. It is apparent in every bite of all foods that the recipies have changed - and not for the better. Everything seems "watered down," and flavorless. Nothing tastes like it used to at the old tiny, award winning, canal-side location. The Tom Kar soup lacks the bite of lime and is so thin that it now separates - which it never used to do. The chicken satay lacks any flavor identifying it as Thai food and it seems the strips have been soaked in water until that is all you can taste. The crab rangoon has an off taste, as if imitation cream cheese is being used. The peanut sauce is thinner, spiceier, but lacks the signature strong peanut flavor it used to have. The fried tofu is so full of water it squirts when eaten and lacks even the bland flavor of tofu! The golden bag is stretched with water chesnuts and more corn, but is the closest to the original recipe in flavor. Though, it too, is much more bland than before. Very sad. The quality is pathetically bad. I will not be going back again. And I will be warning everyone visiting town, or who has not yet gone, to eat elsewhere because the food is tasteless and overpriced. read more

Krua Thai is a very small Thai place (only about three or four tables). The waitress (who I also think is the owner) was very friendly. The menu has a great selection of Thai foods accompanied by pictures of the food itself which I found helpful. The service was super quick (around 10-15 minutes for all the food, 6 people) and the portions were normal sized. I ordered the shumai appetizer and the chicken Pad Thai. The shumai was pretty good but didn't appear to be homemade; seemed to be the generic kind you get at Asian restaurants, so that was a disappointment. The Pad Thai was absolutely delicious however, super flavorful with plenty of chicken and fresh-tasting scallions and bean sprouts. All in all, I would give the food here a 4 and the service a 5. I definitely recommend stopping here. read more

Was disappointed with the food for the most part. Dumplings were tiny and soggy. The vegetable pancakes were burnt and absolutely disgusting. The scallion pancakes were just okay. This is a small Thai restaurant with paper place mats, soda in cans, and maybe 7 or 8 tables for eat in but they have some of the best Thai food I have ever had. When I used to work in Buzzard's Bay I would order The Crispy Chicken Pad Thai about 3 times a week from Krua Thai because they made it to order, gave decent portions and provided prompt and courteous service with a smile. This is a very small, independent, family owned restaraunt (Located in from of the infamous Bourne Bridge and Mass. Maritime Academy) which has more than met my personal expectations time and time again. The owners could not have been nicer to me.
