They had some humorous signs on the wall which we had to take photos of. The staff were great. This was a really nice place. Plenty of seating. None of us noticed that it was "different" than the same one we always order. My son ordered the wrong thing. We know that. The restaurant had a choice to make him another one for free or charge us for another one because he didn't like the sauce on the one he ordered. They chose to charge us. They took the complete potato we paid for and kept it. We paid for two of them and they took one back, only giving us one in the end. Due to this management decision we will never return as we have so many choices other than this. The fountain drinks were also messed up. At least give us the potato we paid for. Sometimes being a nice manager goes a long way and if you are going to charge someone then at the very least you should give them the potato they paid for back and they kept it. Stole it basically. Open since 2010s, this spot has started to earn its place in the BBQ world, albeit being newer to it. There is an indoor seating inside near the gas station shop aisles. The ribs are cooked well with a nice wood profile, but neither very delicate nor particularly notable for their flavor of the meat itself, with smoke notes dominating. The quality of pork itself and the slightly tougher preparation could be better to rival Alabama's best. The BBQ sauce is loaded up with vinegar, completely overpowering the meat if consumed together, although to be fair, this may be a matter of preference for some BBQ lovers. The star of the show is potato salad which was perfectly balanced on its acidity, sweetness and overall flavor. As a whole, BBQ 65 is a pleasant stop to experience some traditional southern cooking and support a local business instead of tossing money into another "by the exit" fast food chain.
