Stopped by after dinner to get something sweet after dinner since there were no dessert spots open at 6 pm :( A local supermarket that carried a lot of local and mainland things. The staff were very friendly to locals and less friendly to tourists. I got some li hing mango gummies and KTA butter mochi. The butter mochi was very soft and chewy but lacked flavor. read more

Across the street from foodland. Some items are less expensive here and vice versa. I do like the sweets here a little bit more. They have a wider variety. Also we really appreciate the store workers here they are so friendly. We bought flowers here all very nice. read more

So I wanted to get a Turkey with my MaiKai points, but didn't have enough. So after purchasing over 100$ in groceries, I went to the on line survey to earn 200 points that would have paid for my turkey. Well I did the survey last week Friday, and I still haven't received my points. Tomorrow is the last day to get the turkey, but I do not have the points, so I guess I will go without Turkey, and just buy a chicken . Not just that, but it takes a couple days to defrost . Really upset, as I have spent Thousands of dollars at this grocery store every year. I think I will be spending my money other places from now on. Love the points program, but hate when they do not honor my points when I need them. read more

This market offered most variety of food from regular groceries to prepackaged foods to pastries. We bought few items to take with us to the airport. Perfect portion and freshly made. Highly recommend when in Waimea!! read more

Worst kta ever! As a customer for over 21 years on the big island I have been to many kta stores. But this one in particular has got the be the absolute worst kta. This place definitely needs lots of improvement. Starting with aloha and appreciation for its customers. Not necessarily from the workers I've seen here but the upper management needs serious training on how to be kind, courteous, and helpful. Make people feel the aloha not the hatred they feel for their job. read more

We wanted to pop in for some local goods before heading back home tomorrow and stopped our to grab some things. Small grocery store, but lots of local items. Bought some juices, fruit to eat on the way to the airport, cookies, coffee... the usual. People were nice and they had what we needed. Parking lot with a McDonald's and big boot on front. The cashier name Paula B made me feel uncomfortable and a theft! Today, April 15,2023.  I always go shopping with my 22 month and always have a shopping bag with me.  I had snacks and her water bottle from home inside my shopping bag when went KTA to do shopping because we came from the park. As I put my unpaid items on the belt she asked if I had a bad and I said yes. I put my bag on the bagging section so I can start bagging the items that were already scanned. She looked in my bag and saw my daughters snacks and started asking what about those snacks/items with a suspicios voice? . I responded nicely that it came from home,  she then looked at me and rolled her eyes!.  Worst experience,  I never experienced this at any stores in my life! Very unprofessional! Go watch your cctv footage and learn that KTA doesn't sell individual pack mini cookies and rice krispies! read more

DISCRIMINATION! I have a medical exemption, they refused to accept it and kicked me out of the store. They stated they do not have to follow federal and state laws regarding medical exemptions. That's BS-everyone has to follow the laws! How can they treat customers like this? Horrible and tyrannical! read more

Came here strictly for the poke deli since we didn't see any Foodland nearby. No complaints here, same quality as Foodland in our opinion. Perfect for some beach snacks before heading out. read more

I stayed at hiiton vacations village . It is a great place to shop. love the local atmosphere.

Love the local store, KTA. Lots of treats my family enjoys; musubi, poke bowls and a sushi bar. Recently added the Hess Aloha Bol. Pricey, but worth giving it a try. Celebrated Chef, Hess was there. He came out from behind the window to help serve up a large portion to a friend he recognized then he went back of the house. The newly hired employee who helped me was confused and needed support; I am sure they will work the kinks out. Kinda' pricey for local style bowls. Ono. read more

Least likable poke that I tried while visiting Hawaii mainly because the tuna was not as tender or cleanly flavorful. The size of the $9 poke bowl was called "small", but it was plenty for lunch. The poke came with the common option of white or brown rice where the brown rice was better. The "Super Store" wasn't supermarket sized. Only full-sized bottles of bug repellent were stocked which meant we surrendered the mostly used can to the TSA when returning home. In an area with diverse tropical fruits, the selection wasn't special. read more

A little known secret is the sushi is great here and after 7 PM they market down to 50% off it's a best deal in town and the service from the cashiers is terrific there are a lot of local deals in the store just wear something warm in the evenings as their door opens right to the Windee called of the winter breeze read more

Local market for the freshest and most affordable poke. The fish definitely looked and smelled fresher than Sack N Save.

I got a sandwich here for my flight back home. Reasonable prices. Great selection, good location, parking and a very friendly staff.

While obviously having the usual grocery items, I go to KTA for a few things when I'm in the area. Basically, souvenir type stuff for people. The mac nuts, coffee, etc. is cheaper than at a tourist place or the hotels. Plus bonus when it's on sale. The other things I come here for are to feed my fat ass. Bakery stuff, coconut manju type things, coconut taffy cookies which make me drool thinking about them and other random Hawaiian stuff that I cannot get anywhere else. Or I could, but damn if I'm not going to stuff my face when I'm here. read more

This place is a gem. Definitely a local super market and serves the best poke in the area. How did we find this place, a great sushi chef told us about this supermarket. Poke is fresh and very affordable. All you need is some rice and seaweed and you're good to go. You will also find local bread and snacks in this grocery which are good finds. Definitely hidden from the touristy area with very reasonable prices. No wonder the locals come here ofcourse. read more

Small grocery store located in Waimea that has a surprisingly good selection of groceries, household necessities, toiletries, etc. My only gripe is regarding the produce department. I wanted fresh raspberries and all of the containers, all of them, had moldy raspberries in them! I was so disappointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful though, and the store is clean and nicely laid out. Pricier than some of the other KTA stores, but that makes sense because it is in Waimea. read more

I wanted to recognized the cake decorator Didi I believe her name is. I saw her Ulua cake she made for my friend and fell in love because my son loves fishes especially that one. With my nephews 1st birthday coming up I plan on talking to the Manager of KTA on having her create my nephews 1st birthday fish theme cake. Where have you been? Why isn't he work showcased more. Hey seriously you don't want anyone else decorating or creating my cakes but her. I just wanted to make sure her talent was recognized and it gets shown often like it should be. In the way of groceries on the Big Island, this is the place to go. We rented a condo on our last visit and upon landing headed straight to the Kona area to get our groceries. What a mistake and ashame that we didnt' find this place until almost the end of our trip. They have an amazing seafood section with all sorts of pokes - tako, tuna (4 kinds), marlin and others. They have a seasoned blue crab and snow crab which we didn't have the time to try. They also have a hot foods counter in the back of the store that sells typical local foods. If you're in the area, would definitely recommend a visit to this store, even if it means eating poke in your car fast-food style. read more

The best Korean-style raw crab poke! I tried it everywhere, even other KTA stores but the KTA in Kamuela makes it the best! Sometimes they use blue crab, sometimes it's white crab. Blue is tastier, but I'll still buy it either way. At other places it will be all about the spicy heat that hits the throat and neglects the overall taste; others don't provide enough heat at all. Here it's still really spicy, my lips will get numb, but it doesn't build to a crazy heat. What gets me is that it still doesn't overpower the delicate sweet flavor of the crab. It would be 6 stars if you have it with beer! read more

Ok...so let me start by saying this is a local grocer. That being said, don't expect to find safeway type prices...but a lot of their prices are pretty good. A lot are crazy too. Most stuff is local, which is good and helps support the local economy. Fruit is tasty as hell. We spent $150 for what would have cost about $100 at safeway. Love this store! The sushi maker is awesome, and always willing to customize even a premade tray. The poke is soooo much better than the place across the street. Much of the produce is local, and all of it is reasonably priced...also better than the place across the street. Cashiers (most of them) are friendly and helpful, and lines are almost always tolerable. read more

Best place to shop in Waimea. You'll find fresh local produce, including organic grown veggies and fruits. Locally produced meats straight from Waimea. Beautiful floral section. Try Mountain Apple products and support the local economy. Their poke bowls are onolishous!! spicy tuna YUM! read more

Personally I love KTA. But, a few weeks ago I went there to pick up some things from WIC. I accidentally used some expired coupons, but luckily I had the next batch with me. The old woman who helped me was very rude and made me feel like an idiot the entire time I was at the register. She kept swearing when things didn't go her way. I'll be back to KTA Waimea, but definitely not ever seeing that old woman again. I'd rather leave my items in the store and go elsewhere to if she was the only cashier working. The one star rating is for my experience, not the store itself. read more
