Very unprofessional give you the runaround when you wanna fill and prescriptions they're assholes

The LITERAL worst company I have ever encountered!!! I have tried for 5 days now to fill a prescription, they keep saying I need the medicine name (it is a new medicine because we are sick). Literally any other pharmacy just calls the current one it is at to get the name of the prescription. So I found the name, and the lady put me on hold. The pharmacist came on the phone and then said that he is too busy, he needs me to call Longs (when Longs asked for them to do it), and then hung up on me. Going here for 2 decades. :) Greg, Trevor, and the crew are such a VALUABLE service to Kohala. Being right here, I am so thankful for the countless hours & gas they save us. For those who have less than great reviews...... :( I am sorry for your interaction but we all have bad days. In my career, I usually met people on their worst days. Please keep in mind the stresses of accurately serving thousands of people with life-saving or life-altering medicines. Also, please :) be patient and kind whatever the situation & wherever you go. I have been on the Big Island for four months now and the only commercial experience that I have had that hasn't been filled with Aloha is the experience I had at this pharmacy. On reflection, I am reminded of the Seinfeld episodes with the soup Nazi. I called to have a prescription refilled and transferred from another pharmacy and was met with a response that required me to come in and show them my insurance card and fill out a new patient form before they would process the prescription. When I expressed surprise, and perhaps some indignation, I was met with a very firm reply, that this is how all doctors did business. That you wouldn't go into a medical office before doing the same thing. When I informed the person that this wasn't my experience, and that I had both refilled prescriptions in other parts of the island and seen doctors without having to go through this process and asked whether I could give them The information over the phone or send them a screenshot of my insurance card and she said no they don't do that. With resignation, I accepted and hung up and planned to stop at the pharmacy the next time I was in the neighborhood. When doing so the next day the pharmacist out front on duty went to get a new patient form from the owner and the owner came out and asked what he could do for me and I explained that I would like to get this prescription refilled. He said are you the guy that we had trouble with yesterday And I said if you want to call it that I am probably that person. He looked at my prescription and said well this is a CVS prescription, Why don't you go and have them refill it. I said gladly and left the store. Oh my word what an incredibly poor way to do business. I understand they're the only pharmacy for 40 miles so perhaps they can get away with this stuff. If I lived here, I would gladly wait until I made a normal trip to Waimea or down to Kona to refill my prescriptions. What a shame. The community deserves much much better than this. read more

picked up thyroid medicine today before heading out of town for several weeks and noted that only a third of the prescription was filled. I was charged for 90 days worth and received 30 days. When I spoke to the receptionist, she said that the pharmacy would have to fill the rest later, which is totally understandable. I suggested that she notify people if their prescriptions were partially filled (and charged for full amount) when they pick it up. She said they couldn't do that. They're too busy. They don't work every day so it's hard to pass on. The pharmacist Greg got on the phone and basically gave me the same response. They're way too busy and couldn't possibly tell you when your prescription is partially filled. I am in the medical field and , understand that that is ridiculous. Too bad as it is very convenient, but I will not be having my prescriptions filled there any longer. By the way, there was nobody else in the pharmacy, except one other man who was filling out paperwork. read more

Worst pharmacy ever. The man running the place (Greg) is either not capable of doing his job or doesn't care or on some power trip messing with his customers. I don't like writing bad reviews but people should know what a disaster this place is. The pharmacy is close to my house and with anemia driving long distance isn't ideal so even though I had poor experiences with them in the past I decided to use them for this so I didn't have to make the drive to Waimea. Just like last time I got stories and run arounds from the boss resulting in no medication and a lot of added stress and phone calls which is the last thing you want to deal with when you aren't feeling well. So here is what happened this time: First my nurse called the pharmacist to make sure they had it at King kam and sure enough they said they had the blood clogging medication I needed so my dr sent in the prescription. Then King kam pharmacy called me and told me it needed to be ordered but they would order it for me and I would have it in a few days. Shortly after that they call again and now they have changed their mind and are refusing to order it and they are telling me I need to call another pharmacy and have them call them to transfer over the prescription THEN after calling the other pharmacy (Longs) asking them to call King kam pharmacy to make the transfer the owner of King kam pharm Greg refuses to give them the transfer!!! So basically my blood clogging medication is held hostage. I'm very surprised this place is still in business. We could really use a real pharmacy in town run by someone who cares and does his job instead of pushing people around, playing games and keeping important medications from sick people in need. Never setting my foot in that place again. This could be the last review you see from me because by the time I get a hold of my dr and get another prescription sent in (to a functional pharmacy this time) and find the energy to drive over there I may already have bled out ... Thank you for your service King Kamehameha Pharmacy! To be clear I have only good things to say about the staff working there. They are kind, helpful and really seem to want to help. Unfortunately they are not the once calling the shots. I'm pretty sure the boss (Greg) is the problem. He should be replaced because the pharmacy could be a great resource for this community if it was run by someone else. read more

They are the worst. Unresponsive, occasionally rude and glacier slow. Also, MUCH more expensive than Longs or Foodland pharmacies in Waimea. Avoid using them if you can. I live right near by and will drive all the way up Mountain Road to Waimea to avoid using them. read more

I could not agree more with the other reviews. Worst possible, ever. I went to pick up an Rx for my wife. New patient form required with her Social Security number. I did now know it and had left my cell at home. The owner pharmacist refused to let me use their phone. Why? "We have to keep the line free for business." I replied, "This is business for your benefit." He was adamant, "No. You can not let use our phone." What an unmitigated dolt. I had the Rx changed to Long's in Waimea (where you use their phone)...you can also use a phone at Costco. I might add, their is no aircon at this pharmacy. Prescriptions are always filled fast! I've never had any issues when refilling my grandparents medication.

What can I say. My little girl has a 104.7 fever and went to the hospital and was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. She got a shot from the doc and a prescription. The paperwork was clear to come to this pharmacy to get her mess he next morning and this is what happened. So the pharmacy had a break in last night and the owner / pharmist was talking with the alarm company. The employee at the counter trying to help me misunderstood a few things, talked with another lady who told me I can get the prescription here as I don't have a valid prescription, I asked her what she meant as all the documents I have say this pharmacy and was speaking in a condescending way and being rude to me, not speaking to me, not looking at me and come to find out having multiple conversations directed toward me which made no sense. I told her to please stop being condescending to me and if she could look at me when speaking to me. She had a few words and told me that she was not talking to me on some of the things, I said ok, I understand but all I am asking is what I need to do if you can't help me. Because I was told to come here and the paperwork says to come here. At the time when her and I were starting to understand what was going on and I apologized because I am a conserved father and I am just trying to find out what I need to do. Then the pharmist buts in and kicks me out of his store and tells the people to call the police. OMG, I had a few words and he said that there was a break in and he will not allow anyone in his business that speaks this way to his employees. Told me that if I wanted service I could go 40 min away to the next pharmacy. I walked away, came back 2 min later to speak with him. I had a talk with him and said to him point blank that he did not hear the conversation and I understand how he would protect his employees. But he should have asked what happened and I explained a little and I told him at this point it does not matter. I told him my job is to be a Dad right now and I have a little girl with a 104.7 fever and she needs this medicine. He then became much nicer as the conversation went on. I understand that he was upset because of a break in and it ended up 2 men with egos got upset at each other for no reason. But my option is that if the communication was clear it would have never made it to this point. So if you go to this pharmacy make sure to be nice even if they are not nice to you especially when the owner will kick you out and tell you he does not care and to go drive for 1 1/2 hour to get the meds my kid needs now... Thanks. And it is 2 stars as they did help me after it was all done but it was because I smoothed everything over with the owner who was obviously upset at a break in. read more
