They quoted me $100 to tow my truck. No problem. I check my account later in the week, and they charged an additional $54 for an accident it was in OVER a month ago. They use any excuse to charge as much as they can or want. Even one of the drivers ADMITTED that certain dispatchers like to stick it to people. Avoid unless no other options available. read more

He showed up within 20 min (earlier than estimated) and after politely asking a few questions, he decided to try jumping the battery and...voila..it started. He suggested I drive to Advanced Auto Parts to get a new battery installed. He saved me from having to tow my car to a repair shop for needless repairs. Worst experience to go to. I waited for over an hour and half at my vehicle and no one showed. And when I called to ask where the driver was I was met by the most rude employee they have there. This morning I stepped outside to see my car was getting towed by Kufner. There was an orange sign on poster-board with writing in permanent marker stating that there was no parking from 7pm - 7am about a block away from where I was parked. I'm not even going to address the incompetence of the city for thinking that is a valid sign. The tow truck driver puts my car back and demands $50, stating that if he would have driven it away it would be $120. I then notice that the front grill of my car is hanging off, which I JUST had repaired. He immediately got defensive when I brought this to his attention and telling me it was already like this. Ever have one of those decades? When everything you do is not quite right, bordering on horribly wrong? Yeah. Me too. And this is the second in a row, which ain't that pretty at all. Driving one of my diesel trucks along, singin' a song, bye, bye blackbird... uh-oh. Fuel gauge looks like perhaps the needle fell off. Swing into a station, just about to pull up to the pump, phone rings, I talk, I glance at the pump, I talk, I dispense gas... Uh. Gas. Okay. Except not okay. Gasoline goes into gas tanks for gas engines, diesel into diesel tanks for diesel engines. But I don't notice, until I'm back on the freeway, singin' a song, bye, bye... engine. Pull onto the exit ramp, shut 'er down, hoping that I won't find a pile of metal filings where once I had a complete, working engine. Get on the phone, call my favorite wrench, he assures me that if I do NOT run it, but rather have his hooker come out and service me... You know. Tow truck driver. Get MY mind outta YOUR gutter, willya? Then? All should be fine. They say ninety minutes, which is pretty great, as it is mid-day, and I'm sure other people are spinning wildly out of control throughout the greater metro area. And some are probably in cars, too. So the tow guy must be swamped. (And I of course calculate that ninety minutes will more probably be at least twice that, so I settle in for a long, winter's sleep...) Whah? He's here, backing up, ready to hook. Does a nice, downright graceful one-eighty on the ramp, noses that big rig right up to my little rig, and we're right back on the road. This last saturday my car was towed. I called sunday at about noon and was greeted with a man who said "kufner towing" and before i could even say a word he said hold on, then put me on hold. He got back with me a moment later and i asked what i needed to have get my car out, he answered my question with a serious attitude and then added "well it was a stupid question but i guess today is a day for stupid questions" at this point i was pretty upset but since i needed my car from this rude prick, i simply thanked him and later went to get my car. If he hadn't been so incredibly rude, i would have pressed for his name. But i didnt want to anger him into doing something to my vehicle. Couple hours later i arrived to get my car only to find the battery completely dead because the driver who towed it left the key in the ignition, the car on, and the headlights on. There was also scratches on the rear bumper that werent there prior to Kufner towing it. One of the drivers at the kufner lot was kind enough to jump my battery and i overheard him say how he hates night shift there. I didn't have a choice in getting my car towed that night but if i do need a tow in the future, it won't be with Kufner. read more

I rarely, if ever, go out of my way to write a review if it's a bad one, but I called and wasn't disrespectful to the man in my inquiry (as it SAYS on my building they enforce the towing). All he responds with before hanging up on me was: "I wish people would stop bitching about stuff on the 4th of July!" I made it a point to write the quote in my phone, because I was that appalled at the guy. Waited 2.5 hours for a goddamn battery jump in single digit temperatures. I called several times and it became obvious they forgot about us. Then tow truck passes us while we are waiting. When they finally arrived they didn't have the charge pack charged. So he ran to the store to find jumper cables. Ridiculous. I'm asking my auto insurer to drop them as a tow service. read more

I was driving on I90 a few days ago at 6:30PM and one of the kufner towing trucks (number 169) was weaving carelessly through traffic with no turn signals. He cut me off and almost caused me to get in a major accident and I beeped. The driver then shined his back spotlights at me while on the highway and then got behind me and tailgated within 5 feet of my bumper with his front brights on. He could have cost any driver on the highway that night their lives. Horribly careless and irresponsible. read more

I donated my car to Our Lady of the Wayside. They used Kufner towing to pick the car up. I told the lady at Wayside when arranging the pick up, that any time after 10am the next morning would be good for us. I get a call at 7:38am the next morning. First of all, that's not even appropriate calling hours for any business. I was unable to answer and got a follow-up text message from Adam at Kufner saying he would be here in 30mins. I responded "after 10 please" and didn't get a response. I get a message at about 9:00am saying the driver is on his way. I respond "after 10am please" and get no response. I was still finishing up getting the car ready for pick up when this Kufner Towing truck starts backing into my driveway. It's 9:50am at this point, which is NOT AFTER 10AM. This asshole tries to back through my narrow gate into my back yard without my direction to do so. I waved him back out to the front for me to drive the donation car out to him. He doesn't even attempt to put a mask on despite the fact that there is currently a pandemic with a public mandate to wear masks when dealing with customers. Meanwhile, my son is in the house waiting for this idiot to finish up so he can get out of the way and my son can get to work. Kufner Towing has proven themselves to be inconsiderate of the customer. I will never use their services directly and if I ever wish to donate a car again, I will make sure the company I donate to will send a driver from a different towing company. read more

KUFNER'S TOWED CAR TO THE WRONG ADDRESS!!! My car needed a tow. The emergency brake was locked and the car wouldn't move. Called the night before to have it picked up at 10:00 am they were 2 hours late picking it up. I called they said that they were 20 minutes out- which turned into another hour. The biggest problem was that they delivered the car to the WRONG address!!! I called Kufner's towing only to be told that his GPS showed that our repair shop shared the parking lot with the repair shop next door. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! I explained to Kufner's dispatch, that I spoke to the owner of our repair shop and he confirmed that they don't share the same parking lot! Kufner's dispatch said that he would move the car to the correct address when they can get to it..... Free of charge lol! I needed my car to get to work. I had to pay another tow company to move our car to the right address. read more

I called them at 5:38pm, called back at 7:00 to check on truck and the day shift never logged it in!!! They had no record of my call! So we started over- a least another hour's wait. It was cold!! Called again at 7:45 to learn I had been bumped by 3 police requests for towing! I am sorry, but a broken down motorist who had been ignored for 2 1/2 hrs might deserve service!! I called to have my car picked up and told dispatch where I wanted the car to be taken. My insurance company was supposed to pay for this and they spoke to your dispatch, apparently the bill was not paid so the truck was canceled. (No one called to let me know) When I called to check the status I was told it was canceled. I paid the bill and had my car picked up. When I called the auto shop the following morning my car was not there!!! I spoke to a VERY RUDE employee at Kufner who didn't tell me where my car was just that it would be taken to the shop I had given them the information for shortly. (Dispatch did not use the address I had given them) when my insurance company called to try to help the situation Kufner made them pay an extra $75 to take my car to the correct shop! I could not be more displeased with the way I was treated or the quality of service I have received. And believe it was very unprofessional for them to charge my insurance company for their mistake! VERY VERY UNHAPPY!! Also.... when I called to ask where my keys were at, they had left in the drop box (which I understand) but Bob (claimed to be the manager) was very rude and said what do you want me to do break into the place and steal them" no sir, what I wanted from you is some understanding NOT ATTITUDE! NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE THE SERVICES PROVIDID BY THIS COMPANY! read more

I came home to find a car parked in my spot. Called the specific towing company listed for the property to wait over an hour. By that time the illegally parked car was able to move his car before being towed. Called the towing company to cancel and he said he would try to get ahold of the driver and said that I should probably wait by my car so it didn't get towed instead. Waited for another half an hour and called them and he said he still couldn't get a hold of the guy. He also stated that wasn't sure about the procedure in this case. So now I'm two hours in and gave up and parked on the street even though I pay $100 a month to have a parking spot. Waste of time. read more

A few weeks ago I was back in Cleveland visiting friends. I was late getting there and there were no spots on the street. I got tired of searching for a place to park so I parked in front of a fire hydrant. I didn't think that anyone would notice and assumed that I would get away with it. The next morning I went out to my car but it was gone. At first I thought it was stolen, considering the fact that I was in the Lakewood area. I eventually figured out that my car had simply been towed. I got a ride to the facility to retrieve my car. The staff was extremely friendly and you could really tell that they care about their customers. They even had a small black dog in the office that was really nice. I couldn't believe that they actually had a dog there. It was great to see a towing company that is so progressive. Kufner Towing is a trend setter for towing companies nationwide and I expect other companies to adopt their dog friendly policies in the near future. People complain that their prices are too high, but it would have easily cost twice as much in Chicago if not more. I guess people in Cleveland must be pretty cheap. After I paid, I went to my car and there was not a single defect on my vehicle. They took great care of everything. This just is another example of how their excellent service is setting the bar when it comes to towing. Overall, I was disappointed that my car was towed but it was my fault for parking illegally in the first place. I would definitely recommend this place to the locals. It was great to see a company being so progressive that they are dog friendly, and provide great service. I'm glad that they work together with the local police departments to keep the streets safe. read more

I just witnessed a tow truck driver screaming at a customer in the parking lot of Lakewood Marcs (11/1/16 at 345). The customer was obviously from a different country, and the tow truck driver was screaming at him for not understanding the payment method. Absolutely disgusting comments came from his mouth, including "You people think you can come here and get everything for free." I will never use this company and would recommend against utilizing a company that employs such intolerant people. read more

I'm a nurse and was walking to my car this morning when I noticed it was gone. I thought it had been stolen so I called the police, only for them to tell me it had been towed for being in front of someone's driveway. I've lived here for almost a year and have never been towed, and have pictures of where my car had been parked. Upon arriving at Kufner, my gf and I were standing there, with three men behind the glass completely ignoring us until I actually had to ring the bell. I then asked if the guy who towed my car was still there, I was told no and that he worked night shift. I told the guy that my car wasn't parked in front of a driveway and that I just had some questions. I was being polite and really just wanted to see if I was in the wrong but the amount of attitude and unprofessionalism this man showed was ridiculous. He told me the police called it in and that they had pictures of my car, so I asked if there was any way possible that I could see the pictures and he stated "I just got here I'm not dealing with this this early" so I replied with "I'm supposed to be at work right now and I'm a nurse so don't be an asshole". I must have hurt his manhood because then he ripped a paper away from me and would not answer any of my questions. To top it all off he was not wearing a mask. Being a covid ICU nurse I found this extremely unacceptable. Never have I been treated this way by a company. The whole situation was shady and I would 100% question the situation if anyone else gets their car towed by this company. read more

Went to get my car and was told they didn't ruin my transmition that they did it the "right way" so I was lucky....ok gee thanks? Then I had to wait 45 minutes because my car was blocked by a "wrecked" car so they had to wait for a tow truck to come move it. I'm at a tow truck place yet there is no one in site that knows how to tow a car? The guy originally told me it would be just 5 minutes until the driver would get there so when 35 mins rolled around and I asked what was up he rudely told me when they got there they got there! We needed a tow on the weekend and called our insurance company to set one up. Kufner was the company they chose and the text I received said they would show up within the hour. 15-20 minutes past the scheduled time with no tow in sight I called Kufner myself. The "gentleman" that answered the phone was rude from the start and when I was explaining why I was calling he rudely interrupted asking for my address and said he had 20 calls waiting. I stood up for myself and he hung up on me! When I called back asking him how he had the nerve to hang up on a customer he said if I would have shut my mouth, I would have heard him say they'd be there in 5 minutes! What?! 10 minutes later, still no tow, my husband called and the man was rude to him as well. We cancelled the tow through the insurance company and they made a note as well. As a woman I feel this company was completely horrible. read more

Scam artists. Kufner patrols the hospital lot next to Panera Bread in Lakewood on Detroit road. I left my car for less than 5 minutes here to grab a bagel because there was no parking available on the street. I come out with bagel in hand and Kufner had my car up waiting for me. Driver bragged about being able to hook a car in 30 seconds. He said I needed to pay him 50.00 to let it down and that I would get my money back by turning it into insurance as a lock out. If i didn't pay the 50 he said he was towing the car and it would be 110.00 to get it out of his lot. Company is unethical telling me to lie to insurance company and just collecting money here for honest mistakes. Driver also threw panera bread under the bus saying if they cared about their customers they would put a sign on the door warning about the parking. Kufner towing is a predator with a tow(speed) trap hot spot to drum up revenue. Driver told me I could call the cops but the cops wouldn't make him put my car down and the only way I was getting my car back was to pay him the 50.00. I am guessing business must be slow for this type of garbage they are pulling. What a scam. read more

A few months ago I was driving on the highway when I saw a Kufner truck speeding up toward me from behind. Since he couldn't get over immediately he proceeded to barrel down on me till he had an opening to get over which he did by swerving dramatically. It was cut so close that I thought he was going to clip me. I had a moment where my blood ran cold till I realized he missed me. I typically drive 10 miles over the limit and was in a lane over from the merging lane. So basically I'm driving moderately fast and not in a fast lane. I could've at least somewhat understood if I'd been doing 50 in the fast lane. I was in disbelief! In the very least I'd have thought driving in a marked car would be cause to behave while driving a company vehicle. Apparently not. I got the phone number and called to complain, pointlessly as it seems. When I called, the guy that answered seemed to find it humorous that I called. While he listened and said he'd follow up, it became clear that this guy wasn't about to take any action towards someone I grew to realize during the conversation was his buddy. I'm certain he knew who the driver was as I'd gotten the vehicle number. Frustrated, I let it go...until this past weekend when I saw another one of these jerks doing something similar to another vehicle on a city street. This time when he swerved around the civilian in his way, he just kept on and ran a red light. While I've never towed or been towed by them, I'm disgusted by the behavior, almost reads as entitlement. Additionally, they have an F rating with the BBB. If you require towing services, I highly recommend avoiding this company. They don't deserve any business or support. read more

We had a local tree service's truck dropping a big load of chips as a favor to us (and our garden) and a convenience to them -- and the rear end of the truck got stuck in the soft ground! 6:15 PM on a Tuesday, and Kufner Towing had a tow truck and two men at the site within 15 minutes, to winch them out. A bunch of dinguses. I know that the towing business can be sticky and honestly it was my fault that I was parked where I was. I deserved the tow, but there isn't a lot of communication among the employees. I was told over the phone to just bring $100. Felt like a weird drug deal. Anyway, I get there and I'm told I need to get my registration, take it over to the police station, get a release form, and then come back. I didn't need to get my registration. So, after all that was done I went back and the guy behind the counter told me $118. "Oh, the guy on the phone told me it would be $100." "Nobody here would have told you that." If you're towed because of a violation in Lakewood then I don't think you can avoid Kufner, but I would recommend looking elsewhere for towing needs. read more
