I booked with them and got a…read morereservation through ACE but upon arriving in Maui for my honeymoon, I was told by ACE that my reservation was canceled because they ran out of cars. I had to get a car through Budget (booked through Priceline) for twice the price, which also included a 2-hour wait in line. I reached out to Hawaii Discount Car Rental asking why but it wasn't them who canceled my reservation. They took it upon themselves to request a refund from ACE for the difference in price I paid with Budget. ACE didn't like that I booked through Priceline because the price breakdown is hidden. Eventually, after a lot of back in forth, Kathy got me my partial refund from ACE. It was amazing! They went above and beyond for me! Definitely book through Hawaii Discount Car Rental but if you need an emergency car, don't book through Priceline. You'll have a hard time getting that partial refund.

Totally different experience- the person we spoke to said what they did Sunday was not their usual procedure. They did bring a replacement car out to our hotel which we much appreciated and thus did not lose another day of our vacation. You get your pick of companies (Enterprise!) and vast auto selection that were quite reasonable. I nervously booked two weeks prior to leaving for Maui (OGG Kahului). But it turned out to be easy peasy once I landed. 1. Take a few free magazines and maps from the airport kiosks - they're helpful and has discounts too. 2. Take the tram across the street from baggage claim to the centralized rental car hub. 3. Shocked as there was no line as I approached the Enterprise customer service desk! Very personable individual who went through my contract and options. I declined additional insurance coverage, because my policy back home had me covered. I did opt for the prepaid gas (back on 8/26/25 it was $4/gallon). The new compact I had was so economical, I only spent an additional $30 before returning it on 9/2/25 slightly above E. Just make the best decision for your holiday needs. Note: Heed the warnings about driving in appropriate areas while on the island. I did not take my new compact off roading on unpaved, rugged routes! 4. I went to the second floor where I was greeted by another Enterprise person who pointed out the cars I was able to select from. Loaded the luggage into the trunk, took a 360 degree photo of the vehicle & license plate just in case, and familiarized myself with the car features. 5. Drove to the checkout gate where another airport person (who had just returned from my home state visiting family) finished off the car rental process and off on my merry way. 6. Returning to the airport, give yourself ample time to deal with OGG logistics. I followed the signage for car rental return. I drove to the appointed drop off area, got the vehicle checked back in without any issues, rode the tram back to the terminal, cleared the TSA and US agricultural checkpoints, and received my Enterprise receipt by email by the time I was at my departure gate/waiting area. Super customer service across the board from the OGG/Kahului Enterprise staff on 8/26/25 and 9/2/25. Sometimes one has to break from the usual and get pleasantly surprised. Aloha and mahalo!

We rented a small SUV at a very fair price. While it wasn't a brand-new model and clearly well used, it was still very clean, everything functioned perfectly, and we had zero mechanical issues during our entire week-long rental. It was exactly what we needed for exploring the island. The check-in process was incredibly smooth. They picked us up from the airport immediately, and when we arrived at the lot, the car was already running and pre-loaded with the beach package we added. It made the transition from the airport to the road a total breeze. Note: Since we declined the insurance, we took a quick video of the car before leaving--standard practice, and the staff was great about it. After-hours drop-off is very convenient. Just make sure to read the instructions carefully, as they have a specific designated parking area at the airport. We took pictures and videos again before leaving. We actually had a bit of a personal mishap--my husband realized he'd left his fanny pack locked in the car after we had already dropped it off and headed to check in for our flight. We left a voicemail asking them to look for it. While it took a few follow-ups to locate (luckily we could see the location via the AirPods inside!), the team stayed with it. Once found, they went out of their way to take it to a mailing center so it could be returned to us. We are so thankful for the effort they made to resolve our mistake. We will definitely be using Aloha Rent A Car again on our next visit!

The Assistant Manager and staff were extremely rude, constantly cutting us off and speaking to us like children instead of customers. The van itself had no AC, warning lights on the entire time, and shook badly while driving. When we tried to get help, nobody was willing to assist or take responsibility. Customer service and professionalism are seriously lacking here. Rent somewhere else and save yourself the stress.
