I chose this restaurant for our meal while visiting family, because I expected my dad would be happy with either shrimp tempura or bbq. I mainly came for the brisket and to avoid going to a chain restaurant and to get a taste of what Hanford, CA has to offer. I already reviewed Holy Smokes BBQ which was pretty good and hopefully they'll have even more options in the future. Here I'll focus on the more Asian menu. I was tempted to order ramen and if I do come back, I'd go for the tonkotsu ramen or the spicy brisket. We instead ordered shrimp tempura, pork buns and a bunch of slushies. Shrimp tempura was pretty standard, but my dad enjoyed it. The buns were pretty good. They had more soup inside than I expected so mine fell apart. We also really enjoyed the slushies. I'm pretty sure they're artificial or from concentrate. We had strawberry, two passionfruit (which had the pulpy seeds, and honeydew. I've been on a lilikoi(passionfruit) binge since my Hawaii trip three years ago and lately I've been getting lame drinks from Taco Bell always hoping against the impossible. The slushie wasn't the best ever, but it's so much better than fast food chains. And actually the honeydew tasted like honeydew and might have been more refreshing. What I would like to see in the future is something else for the dishes. While it makes sense to have food served in styrofoam and plastic dishes...it's not environmentally friendly. Sugarcane is an option that is compostable and becoming more common. Or since we came for table service, maybe some actual plates that can add to the ambiance. If you order ramen you do get a non-disposable bowl of some sort and the buns were served in a traditional bamboo steamer. But it would have been cooler if the brisket was served on a slab of wood. Or a metal tray. The owner was very friendly and it's clearly a family-owned, family-operated restaurant. I'd recommend checking this out for a group that enjoys America - where else can you order tempura shrimp, pork buns, brisket, and a side of mac 'n' cheese? I want some Asian-fusion coleslaw! Disney has an Asian-fusion coleslaw with sambal chili that is pretty darn good. read more

Wanna start by saying that I really wanted to love this place because the owners are so nice, and the service was great. I came to pick up my order, and I felt like they knew their customers. I just add a very tiny bit of the complimentary chili oil (be careful cuz this stuff is no joke) and I feel like it is the perfect flavor savory and spice! Walked in and greeted with a smile! Smells like Bbq. We ordered Ramen pork belly and two meat ribs and brisket plate with chili beans and Mac n cheese to share. Food is ordered at counter but delivered to your table. They offer slushees. Strawberry, passion fruit and a green version. lol forgot flavor Everything was very flavorful. Have seen so many people talk about how amazing the bbq is so my husband and I stopped in today. Unfortunately the first red flag for me was them using a microwave to heat up my food. We ordered the brisket, pork belly, Mac n cheese and chili beans. The brisket had good flavor, was tender and juicy but still needed bbq to give it that extra kick. The pork belly was okay but greasy in my opinion The Mac n cheese was inedible. It was literally buttered noodles with barely any flavor with cheese and oil floating at the bottom of the dish. The chili beans had amazing flavor but unfortunately the beans weren't cooked! They were still very chewy not cooked through all the way. This place is definitely a hidden gem. It's located in a strip mall with ample parking. Restaurant is a bit misleading though, because the signage on the windows, states BBQ. I had to do a double take to ensure I was at the right location. Apparently, the restaurant also serves BBQ in addition to the ramen. Restaurant was very clean and menu is quite simple. The restaurant owner was extremely friendly and helpful with helping me choose a ramen bowl. I settled for the Shoyu Chashu ramen bowl. It consisted of a soy sauce bone broth with thick cut Chashu. Chashu is a popular Japanese dish made of slow braised pork belly. The broth was a bit spicy but I still added some chile oil to kick it up a notch. The pork belly had just enough fat to lend some extra flavor to the broth. The pork belly had some smokey flavor and it complemented the broth nicely. The ramen noodle are handmade and made fresh by the owner. The gyoza served hot and very flavorful. Overall, I recommend this restaurant and I look forward to eating here again. read more

Surprisingly tasty ramen in a small town. Personally found the classic ramen to be tastier than the other noodle dishes. I've done only take out and everything was always packed well. The owner is extremely nice and passionate about her work. 10/10 for service. It should be noted that the toppings were fresh for both noodle dishes. However hardboiled egg wouldn't be my preferred option and I hope they consider changing it to soft boiled. *Mr. Tonkotsu: bone broth with thick cut chashu. Creamy and beef soup with perfectly al dente noodles. The chashu was sweet and tender. The meat quality and execution had to be in my top 3 of all chashu. *Summer Brisket: sweet cold buckwheat noodles with smoked brisket. The buckwheat noodles were chewy and stretchy. The brisket had intense smoky flavor and was similarly tender. The only issue was the broth being cloyingly sweet. I wished there was vinegar or mustard to provide a depth in flavor and to offset the sugar. A gem in Hanford and the folks are lucky to have a such a tasty spot for lunch and dinner. read more

A nice surprise in a remote town. I'm here for work so I just tried to find a good place to eat. Randomly found this spot in a big plaza area so thought I should try it after a whole day of driving. Got to go the Summer Brisket Ramen - this one was so tangy! It was pleasant for the summer heat to eat cool ramen. I wish I got a bunch of ice but it reminds me of Korean cold noodles. The flavor were refreshing and it went well with the brisket. Good texture of the noodle too. Got also a chicharon salad but I'm not sure I ate it right since I got it to go and I felt like maybe I'm missing something or it's just me. I don't mind it but I would probably not get it again. Also have a side of soup that was included idk what it was but man that broth was a good spicy kick it was good to try after the cold noodle. First time at Kuma Ramen and it did not disappoint! I knew I wanted the miso ramen but really wanted the bbq chicken curry so that's what I subbed for with the miso. Nice addition to the Hanford food scene. I'm always on the lookout for good ramen and Kuma fit the bill. Had the Spicy Chicken which had a nice flavor and a nice spice, though a little less umami than I normally enjoy. The fried chicken in it was great, crunchy and hot when it came out and softened up as you eat your meal. Wife got the spicy brisket which was really nice with the smoke from the brisket infusing the broth. DiL got the shoya and added chicken. She enjoyed it as well. Gyoza appetizer had a really nice flavor for the pork and nice and crunchy. Being a ramen snob broth tasted a little thin, not enough umami. Eggs were far overcooked - I want medium boiled. Not the proper condiments for gyoza or ramen. I also do not like the fact I had to pay for water - a pet peeve of mine. I'd definitely go again and would recommend to a friend. I came here and got the gyoza, Tonkatsu, and the Spicy Kuma. The gyoza was fried nicely and came with a sweet dipping sauce. The tonkatsu had good flavor and the pork was nicely grilled. Clean, modern vibe. Wood tables. It's a small space, but one of the tables is long and can seat 10 people (the other 4 tables are four-tops). Dishes are around $15 and sides are $8. There are 8 ramen choices and fourside choices. I had the Mr. Tonkatsu, the Summer Brisket (the cold one) and the Karrage. Everything was very tasty. Solid place for Ramen. I decided to try this restaurant out after reading about it on Yelp and had a craving for some soup. I ordered the Mr Tonkatsu for here and the Spicy Kuma to go and though I haven't tried the spicy yet the Mr Tonkatsu was on point. My wife wanted me to try out this new business establishment that recently open up in the area. Honestly I had never tried authentic Ramen noodles before. Mostly the instant ramen at home lol... But I'm sure the quality will definitely be better and different. The business is located next to Little Caesars Pizza or in the Foodsco Shopping Plaza. Can't really miss it! 2nd time here. It's is a very nice mom and pop spot. They are very friendly here and very welcoming. I have had the spicy tonkotsu and the chicken ramen. They also have a new BBQ spot inside called Holy Smoke. I had the brisket, ribs, pork belly. The soup is hot and tasty and really good Ramen. The BBQ is actually some of the best I've had. Pork Belly was super tender, I don't like Briskets but theirs was extremely well cooked and had so much flavor. The ribs had some of the best bark and flavor as well. They had Mac n cheese, chili, and cream corn sides. Pair your food up with one of their slushes and it is a really great meal. I will definitely be back with my family. The main woman always comes over and serves the food and checks on you making sure everything is tasting well, she is just so sweet too. I love the food though. Kuma Ramen is a treat to eat here! I wasn't expecting the noodles to be house-made here and made every day in house!! They have a Yamato Richmen Gold noodle machine made in Japan here. I ordered Shoyu Chashu ($15.50)- Soy sauce Bone broth w/ Thick cut Chashu. And when they say Thick Cut- it is a Thick Cut!! Very tender, juicy, and flavorful! The noodles were good and also had mushrooms in the broth. Salad Chicharrone ($ 7.50- base is cabbage, cilantro topped with cucumber, red peppers and mushrooms. The surprise is the chicharrone as I was surprised to see that here! There is a beverage cooler that has Japanese sodas and Japanese beverages in it as well as domestic sodas, tea, and water bottles. The owner is very friendly and helpful with the menu when ordering. She will come out from the counter to help you decide and describe the menu items which is a short simple menu but that is good because what is here is good. She moved down here from Colorado and opened this restaurant in May 2024! Since I came in around 2:00 and there weren't too many customers after she brought my order to the table she chatted about her business and showed me pictures from her friend in Japan that has a farm. There are a few tables for 4, a long table for 10-12 that would be good for a dinner party and a counter with chairs that is good for single customers. The chairs are heavy wood & metal, that I liked because they are sturdy! The only complaint is they don't offer water so if you want water you have to buy a water bottle out of the cooler! That is one reason for a deduction in a Star. Come down and try these noodles! read more
